Thumbs down Fabulous Forties #117

Hi everyone,

A big thanks to Dianne, Terri, and Sandy for the breakfast ideas. It's too easy to get into a rut and then become bored with eating the same things....at least for me it is! New ideas like that are welcome.

Dianne, you are off to a great start! 2.5 is a good thing

Sandy, hope your car is better soon they are such a pain, but a necessity. 1.4 good loss!

Es, did you begin counting points on the new timetable? I intended to begin on Friday, but realized it was a bad day to do so, with the kids coming for the weekend.

Terri, so we lost the Bears didn't look good at all (and that's putting it mildly) But they had a great season and it was fun. Congrats on the Steelers' win! I'll be cheering for them

Waving HI to everyone

~Jen

The snows here keep going and going. Today it was just a little more than a dusting, but enough to make you think twice about driving if you don't have to. I can't wait for spring.

Hi Gals

We are having a snowy day here too.
Dave, my older son is on his way back to school today. It is about 100 miles away. We asked him to call when he arrives as he is heading into the bad weather.

My car is ready to pick up. The mechanic said it was a good call to get towed back home as the axle could have snapped. I keep saying thank goodness it is only money, not someone getting hurt. That is alway in the back of my mind since mom's accident.

All is well here, I have been trying some new recipes, today will be a vegetarian chili soup.

Jen, Those breakfast ideas look great. Thanks for thanking me, but I didn't post any. I will be trying some too as I usually get into a rut after a while.

Hi Myra, How much snow is on the ground where you are?

Dianne I hope your bronchitis is clearing up.

Not much else is going on here, just trying to stay warm, I hope to check in again later.

Have a great Sunday Es, Terri, Janie, Viola, Ruth, and Zoe.

hugs, Sandy

We probably have a little over a half a foot on the ground now -- some left from about a week ago, about three inches from Saturday and maybe another inch if that much, so far, today. How about you, Sandy?

Unhappy

Hi Buddies,
I guess yesterday was that kind of day huh? MUNCHIES By the time I went to bed I had more than I should have had. Why do some of us do that? Sort of just take the "what the heck" attitude? There's another website that I could never post this problem without getting beat up! They are strong!!! I like it there but I'm still too weak to contribute or give any advice there.

Tuesday is here. The day that I hate the most of the week. At least I won't be home eating! I'm taking the 0 pt. soup with a sandwich(3 pts.) & a diet soda. For a.m. snack ff yogurt. 2 pts. I have to keep my pts. low to make up for last night.

Zoe, when Tom use to visit me I felt so bloated. I had a hysterectomy in 1992. No regrets!!! But I remember those days. Just think next week will be a better loss.

Viola, I bought the ff cocoa too. I forgot all about it. I could have had that last night. I'm going to have it tonight or this afternoon. Always around 2:30-3:00 I crave sweets so this will help. Thanks for reminding me.

Hi Terri, Dianne, Jen, Ruth, Sandy, JanieD

Till later.

Have a great day.

Es

Morning girls, I just wanted to post quickly before I start my day. I still have to go back and catch up on the post on the other "116" thread. I'll do that this afternoon.

ES, hope your Tuesday is a good one. Sounds like you have a handle on your eating for the day!! Just remember one day of the munchies will not destroy you, it's when that day turns into many that it starts showing up!! When I go through that, I munch on as many fat free/low cal snacks I can find until it passes. I try never to eat something that is really fattening because I'm not really hungry and I don't think anything will satisfy what I'm feeling. So instead of eating lots of high calorie snacks I try to keep it to a minimum.

WOW, so much snow. I almost wish I was there with you!! Of course, after a few days, I'd probably want to be somewhere else, like Hawaii!!

SANDY, did your son make it to school okay. I'd be such a worry wart!!! Glad your car is fixed!! I hate it when I'm stranded. How is your mom?

MYRA, no snow here, but I'm definitely ready for Spring. I don't mind walking on the treadmill, but I love walking outside. We have a couple of walking trails down by the river. I plan on taking advantageof them as soon as the weather reaches in the 70s.

Hello to everyone else, hope you are having a great week.

HI Ladies,
I have been pretty good all week except for Sunday. We went hiking up in Marin County at Muir Woods and along Stinson's beach. We probably hiked about 5-6 miles but then I ruined it by going out to dinner at an authentic English Pub. English food, I have been told, is an oxymoron Very greasy anyway. I had a pint and a 1/2 of ale and shepherd's pie. I didn't bother to count the points, but I am sure that I was quite a bit over. I rarely drink beer but I must say I really like it with certain foods, and I love lamb which is the staple for sherperd's pie.

Tomorrow will tell the tale if I over did it too much on the weekend.

Sat I went to my church's quilting circle. We meet once a month and I am now the leader. I am really a novice quilter but no one else would do it. I gave a demo of my favorite quilt design software, EQ4.1, and now I am totally out of ideas about what to do next. Also, it is really difficult to set up all the chairs, tables and ironing boards with a broken arm, so I made Steve come with me and move all the furniture. I wonder how long he'll let me get away with that?

Monday was a quiet day. The weather was cold and rainy. I went to the club in the morning (30 min Lifecycle, 30 min treadmill), came home, put a fire in the fireplace, curled up with my needle and thread under the quilt I am working on and that was my day.

Have a great Tue.
Lots of Love,
JanieD

Talking

Hello Buddies

Ruth, I don't know why this happens but the last 2 times I posted about how much I hate Tuesdays it wasn't so bad after all. I stayed OP all day. I made myself eat the veggie soup. I really have to make it another way. Thanks for your advice about the one day won't destroy me. I needed to read that. It helped me alot.

Jen, since you started this thread you are the only one that can change it to #117. How are you doing? Enjoying the Big Screen?

JanieD, the hike gave you extra points to play with so don't worry about it and today you worked out for 1 hour so you'll be alright. Sounds like you had a fun Saturday. Luckily you meet once a month. It seems like a lot of work to set up.

Sandy, did Dave make it home safely in that weather? The snow here is almost gone. In the morning there was black ice I take the main roads to work so I was okay, thank God!

Feeling a little tired this evening.

Till tomorrow

Es

Default Hello all you FAB 40's!!

Tomorrow is weigh day. I don't feel like I've lost anything else this week and I really was 100%! I suppose with TOM just about here, I might lose a bunch next Wednesday.......don't know why I'm worrying about it when I don't even know yet. Geeze.

Es ~ Be careful on the 'black ice'. You just can't see it comin'. Thank goodness you don't have to take those side roads.

Janie ~ Quilting? OH, I want to learn how to quilt SO BAD. I purchased all this quilting stuff ~ sewing 'stuff' and even a sewing machine for the cheaters way (my way ~ ha!) and have never done a thing! ($450 for the machine......YIKES!) Anyway, I have no idea what to do to get started. I wonder if I can find lessons somewhere?

Ruth, Sandy, Jen, Terri, Dianne, Myra and Viola , HI!!!

Talk to you's tomorrow when I weigh in.....

Es, Good going on staying OP . One day at a time!

Janie, what a great hike. How long have you been quilting? I'm not a "crafty" person, but have enjoyed doing some cross stitch and sewing. My mom used to knit beautiful sweaters for us; all I've ever made is long mufflers/neck scarves!

Sandy, thank goodness your car didn't give out/axle break while anyone was in it! Having a loved one hurt makes us more aware, doesn't it?

Has anyone tried the recipes in the new book WW gave out? One I did try was to add ff hot cocoa mix to a cup of black coffee...yumm. Very satisfying. I normally drink my coffee black, so this made it a treat.

Today was the first day of the new semester. The course (acctg) requires a lot of homework. I'm a nut for details, so it promises to be interesting.

We reached 55 degrees today!! Unreal. They're forecasting a possible 60 degrees for Saturday. I took a long walk this afternoon, it was just gorgeous out.

HI Terri, Myra, Dianne, Ruth, Viola

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Jen

Just a quick hello. I had a 3 hour algebra class tonight, then I came home and walked 4 miles on the treadmill. I wonder how I'll feel in the morning after that!! Now it is 1:15 am and I'm headed for bed. I had to stay up and finish some English homework from last week. I doubt that I make an A in this class. The teacher is very strict with high expectations. All I can do is be prepared by having all my work completed before class!!!

Jen, accounting homework!!! Looks like my accting class we will be doing most of our work in class. We are also divided in groups for working the problems. That should help those that are having a hard time.

Es, glad your Tuesday was better than you expected!! Just think tomorrow is hump day, it will be downhill from there.

Well, I better go to bed, my classes start at 9:00 tomorrow, so I guess I need to be up by 7:30 at least!!

Hi Buddies,

Sorry about the suspense about Dave. He got back just fine. In fact, he saw his Dad online and he sent an IM about 3 hours after he left home. They had quite a long chat, considering that we had just had him home for a month!

Mom is doing well, I talk to her every day. The place she is in is about an hour away from me. Luckily my brother is 10 minutes from her and either he or my sister in law go every day.

I have had a tough few days, unrelated to WW or family. I am on the governing board of our UU church. We had an issue that has made a number of the congregation unhappy. It has to do with placing a grand piano in the sanctuary. Unbelievably it has brought out the worst in some people, including FLAMING on our church discussion list. We had a special meeting last night that lasted until 11PM.

Janie I love the Muir woods, what a beautiful place to hike.
I wish I had the patience to take up quilting. The older I get the more I think I have AttentionDeficit problems. You should see me trying to sit through those meetings!

Jen and Ruth Back to school too! It sounds like you both are ready to give it your all and have a great semester.

I am heading out early to exercise today, and then on to some shopping. Perhaps some FF cocoa, I think I need a chocolate fix.

Hugs to all, and Hi Dianne, Myra, Es, Terri, Viola, and Zoe, hope I didn't miss anyone.

Sandy

Zoe/Patti,
Great Loss especially with TOM on the way, you go girlfriend!!! I WI this morning and lost 1 lb. I am so excited 1 more and I am at 30 lb. If you want to learn quilting, most quilting/fabric stores hold classes. BTW using a sewing machine is not cheating in my book. ALl of my quilts are machine made, I just dont know how to finish off the binding other than by hand stitching. If someone would teach a quick machine method I'd be first on line.

Sandy,
You have certainly been having a stressful time lately. I am so glad that Dave got to school safely, your car is on the mend, your mom is healing swiftly, and I am sure the church stuff will work itself out. With all that you are still doing WW! I don't think you have ADD, I think you have TMSD (too much stress disorder). Actually I use the quilting to relieve some of my stress. My job is research and it never ends. There is always a different or better way to approach a problem. I make quilts so that I can actually finish something sometimes. It is very satisfying.

Myra,
good luck with your WI tonight. BTW did you get your transportation problems worked out?

to Jen, Essie, Dianne, Terri, Ruth, Viola and anyone else I might have forgotten.

Hugs,
JanieD
