Default Getting rid of IR..

Hey everyone,
So I was wondering if it was possible with wt loss to get rid of the IR or Diabetes and PCOS....or are the two always going to be a factor no matter wt loss? Does that make sense? My previous doc told me i could reduce my risk of D if i lost weight, however with the PCOS isn't that always going to be a concern anyways??

Thanks

That is a great question. I dont know the complete answer but i do know that you can stop diabetes for sure. IR can be "controlled" and PCOS symptoms can be lessened. The only reason i say all this is because i lost 100 pounds before and my insulin went back to normal levels and my periods restarted and normalized. Diabetes, i know from family members that have lost weight and went off insulin/meds. I think you will just always have that underling pcos though, JMHO, as in, it will always be a struggle to maintain weight, moreso than someone without pcos and IR. Its almost, to me, like you have to fight your body to stay slim...my body tries VERY hard to hold on to a high weight...but it can be done, you can lose the weight and lessen all the medical problems.

Insulin Resistance can be eliminated and that can mean that you avoid progressing to true Diabetes.

Diabetes, however, is an incurable disease and once you actually have it, you will always have it. It is however controllable and losing weight, combined with a proper eating plan and exercise, can indeed mean that you will be able to control it without insulin or oral medications.

I have been battling with Type II for well over 15 years now and had progressed to where I was taking the maximum doses of Glyburide, Metformin, and Actos and (for the past five or six years) using insulin as well. Now that I hve lost 60 pounds, I finally got to eliminate the Insulin and have dropped both the Glyburide and Actos levels, too.

Afraid I know nothing about PCOS.
