Hello everyone!
I am not the chattiest Black Team member, but I am out here losing weight with all of you. I'm not good at chatting everyday, but every once in a blue moon (aka when a new Smurf is born), I feel like sharing a little funniness.
So, have you noticed on your weight loss journey any little oddities that are happening? We all notice that our clothes fit differently, that our faces are thinner, etc., but, has anyone noticed something about yourselves that no one else would see?
I've noticed two things lately... First, over the past two months, when I've gotten in my truck and looked into the rearview mirror, I've noticed that the view has changed. Usually, I see the edge of the roof and the top of the tailgate and empty road in the middle. But twice now, I've been seeing more roof than empty road behind me and have had to readjust my mirrors. I'm the only driver, by the way . I finally realized that my rear end and thighs are getting smaller, so I'm sitting lower in the seat. Ha! Who knew?
Secondly, "my girls," which are lovingly called "my shelf," are used to support clipboards, books, food (every time I eat, they catch something!), etc. They're big enough to earn a living, so they may as well be used for something . Anyway, beneath my shelf is my belly. Usually when I look down, I see a bump of fabric there just under the shelf. Yesterday, for the first time in years, I looked down and saw sidewalk! Mind you, I still can't see my feet, but the belly bump is finally overshadowed by the shelf . If nothing else, I'm on my way to being better proportioned. Woo-hoo!
Sorry if I've bored you all to tears, but I just had to share and use every smilie available. Hope I've given you a giggle or two, and I'd love to hear what you've noticed.
I actually went down a half a ring size. I didn't expect to lose weight in my fingers, especially since I've only lost 15 lbs. total (10 since joining 3FC), but it happened.
I've always been a size 6 ring, but my boyfriend and I were engagement ring shopping (I know!) and I tried on a size 6 and it slides a little to the side. I've been a size six for as long as I can remember. The sales associate had me try the sizing rings and it turns out I'm a 5.5. Crazy!
I've taken these Cardio Kickboxing classes at my school on and off for the last year or so. One night a few weeks ago, I was looking at myself in the studio mirror (the class is in one of those rooms with mirrors on every wall) and I realized that I look normal. I'm not ridiculously skinny like some of the girls who take the class (nor do I want to be), but I'm not "the fat girl" in the class anymore... I saw myself in that mirror and realized that I do LOOK a lot different than I did. I love those "DAYUM, I look good!" moments
Here is a funny one....my shoes are getting too big!!! I have been a size 8 since...well forever!! Now, size 8's are slightly too big. Very strange!! Sounds like a good reason to buy some new shoes!
Here are some of my NSV changes I've noticed recently
I bought a pair of sandals (which I loved then and still do) but they were too tight on me so I saved them. I wore them for the first time yesterday and I had to buckle them on the farthest buckle and if it weren't for that, the sandals would have slipped entirely off my feet! My feet are skinny again! I used to wear a AA and I went to a B when I gained all of this weight. I asked my husband, do you think I could take this "in"(like a shoe cobbler?) I really love the sandals too. It sort of bummed me out since I waited so long for them to fit and now they are almost too big!
My girls have gone down a cup size of F to a D. They feel "tiny" but I am NOT complaining. My "shelf" caught all the crumbs, spills and mishaps too so I know what you are talking about there.
Although I haven't seen the sidewalk yet my DH says I am getting "curves"!
My weight lose may seem small but I have also been working out seven days a week like a fiend and I have definitely "shrunk". I feel that is an integral part of this "losing game" that I plan on "winning".
This isn't a visible body change, but I gotta testify. Normally my TOM leaves me bent over double in pain, cramps, lower back pain, digestive problems, crazy mood swings, crying, etc. Since starting my new WOE, exercising regularly, and taking my vitamin and supplements (B-12, calcium, fish oil) daily, my cycle has been a breeze. No pain whatsoever. No wild mood swings. I had actually been to the Doctor about 3 weeks after starting this new way of life, and she had prescribed birth control pills because it was so out of control. I decided to wait and see if I could avoid any artifical hormones and control it naturally. Even if I was at goal weight, I know I'd continue this because the benefits far outweigh the small sacrifices I've made.
I realized that I don't rest my forearms on the edge of the sink when I do dishes now.
I can also reach higher (I think all of the dvd workouts are helping my flexibility).
and my favorite so far -
My skirt actually slid down while I was walking down the hall at work. I had just passed the assistant superintendent and felt it start to slip. Fortunately, I was right in front of the bathroom door, and I had a long jacket on. By the time the bathroom door shut behind me, the skirt was on the ground.
chellez - no, I most definitely do not mind sharing with all of the teams. I just didn't want to step on any toes and inadvertently repeat the drama of weeks past.
CountingDown - that's too funny! I don't like belts much, and all day I've been wondering if I was going to lose my jeans. They're looser in the back now, and I feel like I'm on the verge of plumber's crack.
dixiedieter - is your Chihuahua in a chicken suit?
Amberelise - I totally forgot about my slimmer fingers. Glad you hadn't already bought your ring.
NSV's are definitely not small victories, are they? They are the kick in the pants, and the motivation we all need to keep going.

Strange isnt it? My wedding ring is getting too big too.

Same here! My husband can't wear his ring anymore. He's lost 80 pounds since January. My ring slides around on my finger a lot more these days too. So, as soon as we both get to goal, we're going to buy each other new wedding rings. I already have mine picked out (it's actually the ring he originally wanted to get me, but was too $) - so we're saving up now! lol.
