I really hope I'm in the right place.

For starters, my name is Sara, and I will soon be 20 years old. I live in West Texas, and am a college student. I currently weigh 261 pounds, as of a few minutes ago.

I woke up today and realized that something truly has to give. Never before have I ever felt ashamed of my weight; I don't know what flipped the switch, but the desire is there, and it's something I feel like I need to follow through with.

It's not just about losing weight for me--it's about being a healthier person. I'm still young, and I want to be able to live and enjoy my life to the fullest. I want to be able to do everything my friends do, and be able to keep up with them while they do it.

For now, I'm just going to be watching my calorie and fat intakes, and trying to make small changes that I can stick with. I'm slowly trying to kick my Diet Dr. Pepper habit, because I know all the artificial sweeteners are icky for me.

Other than that, I'm just really ready to get to know some of you gals (and guys!) and ready to take in all of the wonderful information you guys can give me.
