Default Anyone doing Scarsdale??

Hello:

I am on day 6 of Induction with Atkins and I have lost 6 lbs. I am thrilled with the result and really believe this is the way for me. I have PCOS and this woe seems to be best for that.

However I find this plan very strict and plan to switch to another low carb plan after induction. I've looked into the Scarsdale diet and it seems healthy and still low carb. Has anyone tried it? Any input good or bad would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

I don't know a whole lot about Scarsdale, but in my opinion it's stricter than the post-Induction phases of Atkins. From what I know about Scarsdale, it's more planned - you eat certain things on certain days, and it's lower fat as well as low carbs. One of the things that I like about Atkins so much is that you can eat things like full fat salad dressings and cheese.

I suggest checking out lowcarbfriends.com and going to the challenges bulletin board. There's a daily Scarsdale thread that you should be able to get some information from. I read it every once in a while and people seem to lose very quickly. I've toyed with trying it but like I said I like being able to eat higher fat than Scarsdale seems to allow.

Good luck!

Me to, don't know about Scarsdale. You might want to research CAD or Suzanne Somers.

Good Luck !!

I just started Suzanne Somers and so far I like it.......I'll let you know how much I lose next Saturday (fingers crossed lololol).

Boy, I have not been on this site in AGES, I have been a lurker.

I have done Scarsdale several times. I always have good results with it. (10-20lbs in 2 weeks.) It is strict but I need that sometimes. I dont have to think about what to buy at the store or what to make. It is all written out for me. I started it again yesterday.(lost 2lbs.) It always gives me a boost and motivates me to continue. I need a quick start to keep me going. After 2-4 weeks I try something else for variety (it does get boring but it is easy.)I like lo-carbing but I eat too much fat and my helpings are too large that I end up gaining. You can still eat alot on Scarsdale but the low fat helps me out. Good luck.

Is there a plan out there that is stricter than Scarsdale? I did Scarsdale when I was in high school and I remember turning orange from eating too many carrots and I think it was around that time that I started hating tuna.....it worked but for me I had rebound weight gain as soon as I started eating anything remotely normal...mind you this was 20 years ago, so what the heck do I know???
