Unhappy How much food can one eat?

Hi all...I had my surgery -RNY on Aug 30.
My question is, and , please, be honest here.....How much will I be *physically able* to consume, say 6 months-1 year down the road?
For instance, would I be able to eat a cheesburger, sm fries? 1 piece of pizza, 2? I am not talking about good choices.I am talking about how much can you actually eat?
I ask out of fear, hoping I wont be able to!!!!

I can't answer the part about how much you can eat, but I know that sister Amy can't eat cheeseburgers, fries, or pizza because they make her dump. She can only eat very bland foods without seasonings or much fat. She could only eat tiny amounts of food at first, but now 4 years later she can eat a regular size meal, just like the rest of us. It's just the food on her plate that has changed. She eats a lot of plain, baked chicken and well cooked vegetables.

I'd be interested to hear the experiences of others that have had this type of surgery.

I am a year and a few months out.

I can easily eat most of a Happy Meal now. I can eat about 2-3 pieces of pizza.

I believe it is around 1-2 cups of chewed food.

OK, I'll ignore the food choices you selected. At 18 months out I am able to eat about 1 cup of blended food at a meal & be comfortable. I don't need to blend it, but for measurement's sake, you need to remember that your stomach gets the food chewed which is why I compare it to blended. Here is a typical day's meals for me is Breakfast-6 oz Low Carb yogurt, piece of fruit (love apples) mini bagel w/ cream cheese; Lunch 3 c. veggie salad (lots of variety) w/ 2 oz ham, chicken, or shrimp, 1/4 c. grated cheese, few croutons w/ low carb salad dressing; OR 1/2 c. LF cottage cheese w/ 1/8 - 1/4 c. NS canned fruit, 2-4 oz deli sliced turkey or ham sometimes in 1 sl. bread sandwich. Dinner- 3 oz. of one of these (pork chop, chicken, fish or turkey), 1/4-1/2 c. cooked veggie, sometimes fruit, potato, SF ice cream Afternoon Snack- 1 of these (Cheese stick, peanuts, fruit, deli meat or protein bar).

I like Amy do not do fried foods. I have never liked spicy foods so I don't do those either (could but prefer not to). I like going out to a seafood restaurant to eat.

My tastes have changed. 2 years ago I would have been very angry with someone who had said that I wouldn't be able to eat BEEF, PIZZA, BREAD etc. Truth is, I can eat it and occasionally have a cheeseburger (removing excess bun) or a piece of pizza, but I prefer white meats over red meats now, Melted cheese & pizza crust doesn't taste so good, and Fluffy bread takes up too much room in my little tummy that I would prefer to fill with foods that will satisfy me. I couldn't eat Raw Veggies until Month 6, Raw Peeled apples at Month 8, Beef until Month 10, Bread at Month 11.

My Weight Loss Clinic gave us a year's guide to how much to eat. I followed it religiously. If you haven't received an eating plan from the clinic you are a part of, I would be glad to email it to you. Send me a p.m. with your email address. Here is a summary of amts per meal. 5-7 wks=2-3 oz., 7-12 wks=3 oz, 4-5 mon.=4 oz, 6-7 mon.= 5 oz, 8-9 mon = 6 oz, 10-11 mon= 7 oz., 12 mon=8 oz.
