Thumbs down Feisty & Sexy 50 & 60 yr olds #158

Maria: At least they have arrested some of the people. 28 is alot, how many more do they think there is? Dont understand why teenagers think that way. Very sad.

Peggy: That was nice to get the pin from Waterford. Even tho it looks like it came from Big Lots That resturant sounds so neat, would love to see it someday.

Jenye: When replying click on the advanced mode. Its much easier to use. Then click on the bold or font that uoi want to use. When you do not want to bold anymore click on the close tags on the right side.

Slavika: That dessert sounds yummy, I will have to try it. Pineapple might be good in it to. Will have to think of some kind of combo to go with that.

Dee: An Oak Hutch would be very nice! Love oak. My computer desk is Oak and I just love it.

Both the Key Lime pies sound wonderful! DH loves Key Lime Pie. So Maybe next week I will make him one.

Went shopping today and out to lunch. Had a Crab Melt that was so good. Bought a skirt to.

Have a great day all!

Default Hi folks from a "sunburnt country"

I really do mean "Sunburnt" We had rain last night in Sydney therefore controlling most of the fires, but the ones south of Sydney missed out and they are out of control again.

Lily I also cannot understand the minds of these people who light the fires, especially the teenagers. Think of it they will be running our country some day in the future. I shudder to think what will happen then. Hopefully I will not be around to see it. I also would like to thank you for setting me right in the use of bolding fonts and colour. Maria must think that I am dumb, but it takes a long while to settle in.

Maria Yum Your pie sounds very simple and yummy, I think I will try it. Good Luck on your weigh in day on Monday. I hope that you do as well as I did.

When I hopped on the scales this morning I found that I had lost 2kgs or 4.4lbs and I was delighted. I have been journaling all my food and trying to exercise a little and have found that it works. Thank you Maria Yum for all your good advice re this. I would also like to thank each and every one of you for your encouragement and your acceptance of me.

Love to all of you and take care.

Ash/Jenye

Hi Everybody
Lily thank you for starting the new thread for us. Sounds like you had a nice day, shopping and lunch. Good for you.
Maria I always feel better when I get my hair done too. Now I wear it so short there's not much to it. I use a bit of gel to make it a little "funky" on the top, and a curling iron to bend it a little towards my face. That's it!
Trudy has nice hair (she has a bit of a natural bend to it) and it ALWAYS looks nice. I don't think I have ever seen her with a bad hair day.
Dee has natural curly hair too, boy my friends are lucky.
I had sort of a quiet restful day today. I watched some TV, looked up a million recipes on the computer and printed off more then I will ever use.
I have an early dentist appointment tomorrow and again on Tuesday to make sure that everything is going ok with my "screw implants" and adjusting my partial before we leave on holidays.
Ash/Jenye do you work outside of your home. You might have said and I fogot. Thank God there has been some rain, I guess you guys need more.
I have been trying to DE-FLUFF
over the weekend. When I'm not too busy, then I tend to think of food more. I made a nice pot roast for supper. I had a tube of
PillsburyItalian soft bread sticks in the fridge I thought I should use up. On three of them I sprinkled cinnamon/sugar before baking and did that ever taste good. I ate my supper and then I didn't make my usual trips to the kitchen in the evening looking for snacks.
Time for me to go to bed, I hope you all have a nice day tomorrow. Night all.

G'day all,

I had a great weekend, the wedding of our friend's son went well, it was an enjoyable evening.
I did drink too much it is very deceiving when the waiting staff never allow you to finish a glass, I really never had more than the one glass of red wine
Did some shopping with dd today which was nice as before long we will be living in different cities again.

Tomorrow our ds and partner are flying into Melbourne from Tasmania and have 5 hours here before their 'connecting'???? flight to Adelaide.
They borrowed my digital camera so I will go out to the airport with my laptop and download the photo's they have taken.

Slavika I have been meaning to ask about your tooth implants, I guess no news is good news. Hope all is well when you go for your check up. Not long before you go on holidays

Jenye excellent loss!!!! You must be very pleased with that, I know I would be. By the way, I don't think you are 'dumb', I am not the world's best teacher and probably did not explained it well enough. You are doing fine now with the bolding etc. How did you cope with the heat yesterday? We went to a post wedding lunch and it was very hot out in the sun, we didn't stay too long because of it. I didn't want to get sunburnt.

Hi to everyone else, hope you are all well.

Cheers
Maria

Three pounds at weight in this morning Jenye, so you beat me! But I am still very happy about it. I am feeling so much better than I did a couple months ago. and I know I will feel even better as time goes on.

Roger and I went for our morning walk in the woods today. It was 22 degrees. But I just love it. I like being out and seeing the trees and woods and things. I watched a lovely "V" of geese flying over my head and listened to here noisy calling to each other as they flew along.

It is supposed to get very cold tonight, down to about 15 so I have my woolies on tonight.

Slavika I have very short hair and wear it about like you do. Mine is VERY short at the neck and around the ears and then I gel it a little on top. so when I go for those outdoor walks, I wear two hats!

A snowy hi, It was so pretty this morning. We walked in the park and all the snow on the trees and things made it look like a Christmas card. There are a lot of snowmen in yards. The kids were all on delay today. Slavika you have hair like me. I use mousse and pomade and a curling iron. I have been trying to let it grow a little. Are you getting all you things ready for the big trip. My dh said a local couple were going on a cruise and got to the airport 2 hours early and security was so long that they missed their flight and the cruise. My neighbor's sister is here from L.A. and she had no problem I hope you don't either. Maria it sounds like you had a good time at the wedding. See you all later,

Hi Everybody
Maria Hi there. I went to the dentist early this morning, and had to leave my partial there. So when I left I did NOT have any bottom FRONT TEETH. Very attractive, TRUST ME. Anyway, originally they said I would have to be without the teeth until tomorrow morning but then they said they could get the work done on the teeth and I could come back in today at 3:00PM, which I did. So here I sit, with LOTS of teeth, (and a few VERY expensive teeth) The implants are good, and the partial they fixed up for me (until I get the permanent teeth in a few months) seems good also. The teeth already feel more secure in my mouth then they did before, so life is good.
Maria Yum the difference in our hair styles is, that the hair is left longer in the nape of my neck, and generally longer all around my face (well sort of). The top though is quite short. CONGRATS ON THE 3# LOSS .
Jenye Way to go.......4.4# that must make you feel really good. That's a wonderful loss.
Peggy I haven't really done anything about getting my clothes together or anything like that for my trip, but soon I will start. When you were talking about the line ups at the airport, I checked to see when we leave and it's at 6:45AM. If we have to be there 2 hours before (maybe even sooner, I'll phone) that means we have to be there at 4:45. I will need at least 1-1/2 hours to pack up toiletries and get showered and dressed, so that means I will have to get up 3:15AM. What do you think, should I even bother going to sleep, or will I just feel worse if I do. Hmmmmm??
Lily yes, pineapple might be good in the dessert. Maybe I will make it for tea time tomorrow and use that. Please feel free to join us at 2:30.
Have a nice evening everybody.
P.S. Peggy, I forgot, we are at least 1/2 hour from the airport.

Hi all;
Slavika: Why don't you stay overnight at an airport hotel? Then you could get some sleep. you don't want to start your wonderful vacation all tired out.

Peggy: Tried your pie recipe tonight for guests tomorrow. Your recipe said to refrigeraate over night so I am. Licked the spoon and it tastes very good.

Maria-yum; Your pie recipe is it evaporated or condensed milk? Just want to be sure, as I have a full calorie recipe that uses condensed milk. I bought the lime juice today, and then thought I better ask to be sure, before I make it.

Lily: Thanks for the new thread. We are still havaing cold weather for here. Going into the 30s tonight.

Congratulations on the great weight loss Jennye and Yumyum. I would faint if I lost 3 or 4 pounds in a week. Guess I have a slow metabolism. That sounds good anyway. What is your secret.?

Maria: I think you had a good time at the wedding. Red wine, eh?
Saw some pictures of the fire fighters dancing in the rain. What possesses kids today. We had a scary incident here. A young man stole an airplane from his flight school, and proceeded to fly it into a skyscraper in Tampa. Left a suicide note, but it is now making people ask all sorts of questions again.

We must have similar hair styles. I have my hair longer in the nape of the neck, but short on the top and sides, with some short sideburns, and bangs. My grand daughter introduced me to some stuff called 'Bed Head' which I use on the top,to half spike it, and then a curling iron to turn the ends. I have such fine and straight hair. I am contemplating whether I want to get a body wave.

Glenda: Are you all through with your tests?

See you all tomorrow. Ann

Hi Ann I read your post just now, and thank you for thinking about me. You know Ann, it would take us 15 min to get from the hotel to the airport and it's only 1/2 hour from my home, so we would only save 15 min.........and if I was to get any sleep, I would probably sleep better in my own little bed. We have done that in the past........once in Honolulu, on a return trip home. It's a good idea, if you are a long way from the airport, or if you are not in your home city.
Good night.

OOPS.......I was telling DH about my post, saying I would likely sleep better in my own bed and he told me I must have had one of those "moments" because the airport hotel we stayed at to get a early flight in the morning was in LA not Honolulu.

G'day all,

I have been up since very early this morning to get out to the airport to see ds and partner. They came back to the apartment for the 5 hours they were in Melbourne. Lovely to see them and the photos are great. They bought some lavender from a lavender farm and soap for me and some delicious Brie for dh.

Slavika I am with you, I would prefer to stay in my own bed. A great thought Ann but it always takes me a little while to get used to a new hotel bed.
Pleased the implants are on track and you are comfortable with them.

Ann We heard about the young boy slamming the aircraft he was flying into a high rise building Perhaps I should be more sympathetic towards the young boy who did this but I don't know, I really feel for all the people that are yet again effected by this tragedy. Isn't 15 a bit young to be getting flying lessons??? That is not to say that an older person would not be just as crazy to perform this copycat act from September 11.

Glenda How are the tests going? Hope all is well.

I am off to play some canasta.

See ya all
Cheers
Maria

Lizziepie, sweetened no fat condensed, maybe I wrote it down wrong.

Jenye and I are both on low fat diets and we sort of had a little challenge going between us. She won, but there will be another time!!

Right now I am having a personal challenge with some ladies at another site for the whole month of January. I am going for five pounds, although I think I will do ten. I am determined to be in shape by August of this year which will be my anniversary of starting this new eating style....

It is so cold here today 19 degrees at the moment. My sweetheart and I will still take out stoll in the woods however, as we go no matter what. I will however, put on my insulated underwear!!

Have a good day!

Jenye: Wow great loss for you! Thats awesome. Glad the rain helped some of the fires.

Slavika: Glad the implants are ok. I would be at the airport 2 hours early also. Dont think I would stay up all night. I know I couldnt. Least you can sleep on the plane. Course when we went I was so excitied I didnt sleep anyway that night. Passed out on the plane, and I was grumpy when we got there I will hurry! Save me some pie!!!!!

Maria: Sounds like the wedding was a lot of fun. I can image it would be hard to figure the points when they keeping adding to the glass.

Maria/Yum: Great loss for you to! Burr.......22° is to cold for me. Im a wimp.

Peggy: I think the airports go in spurts. My DH left a month ago and didnt have a problem. He did on his way back tho. They should be more consistant!

Ann: Dont they know Flordia is suppose to be warm??? I never lost 3 pounds in a week either. I was a turtle. I heard about that plane being flown into a Skyscraper. HAvent seen pictures yet. Cant believe it. ALAS........

Well best get to work. Have a good day all!

Anne and Maria - Thanks for asking about my tests. I am sorry I told you about them so far in advance--just trying to convey how nervous I am about them. My appointment is not until the 28th of January, so I get to worry about them for a month.

Maria Yum and Jenye - I have only lost that much weight the first week on WW and then it is back to the .2, .3 or even a gain. I am trying not to be depressed. I had lost 7 pounds and then the week of Christmas gained back 3. Two steps forward and one step backward. But now that the holidays are over, I plan to just keep going forward.

Slavika, I was wondering how the teeth situation was progressing. I am sure the day you had no front bottom teeth was a day that few people saw you, right?

Regarding hair, I have had my hair in a one-length hairdo for a few years, actually since hair grew back after chemo. I had it cut shorter a month ago and had my feelings hurt when people acted like it looked so much better. Must have haunted houses before. I will remember not to compliment people by giving a backward compliment.

It is so nice here. We are going to be in the 50's this week. I love it!

Hi Everybody
Glenda you are right.....NOBODY SAW ME BUT MY DENTIST. Fortunately it's the bottom front teeth and even I didn't have to look at myself. LOL LOL
Ok, are you ready for this, you gals, Lily are you listening I didn't have to pay WW today. Once again I got to keep my money for maui. I stayed exactly the same. YIPPEE!!!
Remember Dee mentioning that "maybe" we could have that Jello Dessert for tea time today. Well I did make it again, with some modifications and have to say it turned out well enough, that you WOULD want to serve it to company.

Here is the Better Revised Version:
Jello Dessert

Line 8x8 pan with 12 low fat graham crackers (6 pts)

Mix together:
1 pkg of Vanilla Instant Pudding (light)
2 cups of Peach Yogurt PLUS add a bit of milk if you think it's still too thick, (but don't make it too runny either)
Add about 6 peach slices, (cubed a bit) from a can of peaches.
FORGET THE SWEETNER, from the earlier recipe you don't need it.

POUR the mixture over the graham crackers.

Mix up Light Peach Jello with one cup boiling water, then add 6 or 7 ice cubes and stir until melted, and you end up with about 2 cups liquid.
Pour on top of the pudding mixture. Put in the fridge for about 4 or 5 hours (should be set by then), top with 1-1/2 to 2 cups low fat Coolwhip and sprinkle with 2 Tbsp. coconut.

You know when I made the dessert the first time, it was ok, but not really special, but today when I made it, it was much better. All the gals liked it at tea today. Dee commented that it was sort of a fresh summery dessert, and she's right. It was light and very nice. I think it's one I will make often. The first time I made it, the pudding part was too stiff and thick and I didn't like that. Adding more yogurt and the addition of a bit of milk made all the difference. One of the yogurts I used was a "fruit bottom one" well, actually peach, and it worked out well. Try this, I think you will all enjoy it, and it certainly is low in points. Because the ingredients are simple I will even be able to make this in Maui.

I'll come back later, and see how you are all doing.

Smile ..so much has happened since I was here last

There sure has been a lot going on with everyone.. all good too.
Congratulations to all who have had weight losses and to those who managed to stay the same . The Jello Dessert was indeed delicious... Slavika, you did good . I will be making it and I think the peach was such a good choice.
Maria I can't believe the wedding is so close. I knew it was in summer, but I guess I was thinking our summer.
Glenda your friends who commented on your new hair style probably just thought it was so nice because it was different. I can't imagine you not looking good.
Lily I can't lose 3 lbs a week either... used to drop 5 lbs in a week, but those days are long gone.
Ann I saw the same TV footage of the firefighters dancing and rolling around in the rain. Also, saw the small plane stuck in the bldg. There was an article in our newspaper about the boy, no one can understand why he did it. It was a complete turn around for him. Too bad.
We are having such unusual weather. Today the snow was all melting. Outdoor sports have come to a standstill. We have an annual event in the French Canadian community. They pay tribute to the Voyageurs who settled here. Sculpturers come in from all over the world and they carve out such beautiful work...there is music, crafts, entertainment, authentic food, and everything is outside. Well this year it is so warm, and not enough snow. They are going to bring snow in from the US and from the north... really weird. They count on it being cold so the ice sculptures don't melt. It looks like everyone's weather patterns are different this year....global warming??
