Default New to SB..coming from Atkins

I've just left Atkins and am now starting SB! I would love some advice!! First of all, what are the major differences? With Atkins I lost 10lbs. in 2 weeks. Can I expect weight loss like this on SB? Atkins food was just too boring! I need a little more variety. I'll buy the book soon but for now I need some advice, PLEASE!

Joanne, welcome! Did you mean Sugarbusters, or South Beach? South Beach has two phases, the first is essentially Atkins, the second adds more variety and is like Sugarbusters. This forum is Sugarbusters. We avoid high glycemic foods, like white flour, white sugar, white rice, white potatoes, and keep sugar grams per serving at 3 or less. Whole grains are allowed, so 100% whole wheat bread is on, but it is wise to limit starches to three servings a day. It is hard to explain what the program entails if you have not read the book. I highly recommend you read it, but if you want to start in steps, begin by cutting out sugars, and eating only whole grains, brown rice, and stepping up vegetables. Corn is NOT allowed in any form, so avoid it. Fill up on fresh vegetables, like broccoli, brussel sprouts, spinach, salad, tomatoes, carrots. Come join us in the support thread where more folks will see your questions, and ask away. Its a great supportive group.
