DEAR ANDREA ~ I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering so much; do your spasms include pain? I will assume that they do from what you say. I know that you don't really mean what you said literally. As someone with Spina Bifeda, I cherish my legs and the ability to walk is so precious to me.

On occasion, I get painful muscle spasms in my legs too; we have always called them "CHARLIE HORSES" ~ where I heard that from, I don't know. My husband (DH) and my father get them too (in their calves and thighs that go right up into their groins). My DAD joked recently that they went right up into his brain and made him make bad choices when he was young ~ he meant this as a joke though.

DH's legs kick about horribly at night; sometimes, it's hard for me to sleep becuz of that. He's had these as long as I've known him; but he did have a bad muscle spasm problem that sent him to the hospital many years ago. I know people with RICKETS (in their childhood) have painful muscle spasms too (which may be what caused DH's; they never really determined the cause at the time; they just focused on getting him mobile again).

My doctor did tell me the medical term for this, but I'm afraid I've forgotten it now. I think that you should go back and see your doctor or a CP specialist; this is probably a common trait for CP patients; and there may be something they can do for you to ease them. It would be terrible to suffer so much, if there is something out there that could help you.

You might also GOOGLE for info about your condition and these symptoms as you can often find help in the most unexpected places on the net. Best wishes in your search; and ^ I'M SENDING UP PRAYERS FOR YOU ^ your friend, ROSEBUD.

Hi Andrea, Sorry to hear that you are having such a bad time with spasms in your legs. I know some what how you feel, because with MS spasms in various parts of my body are part and parcel of the condition.

I got to the point that you have done and was desperate. I was prescribed a mild muscle relaxant which I found highly beneficial. It did not take away every single spasm that I was experiencing, but it decreased them considerably and the severity of them.

I would suggest a visit to your doctors or your specialist to discuss your options, please don't suffer in silence there are things that can be done to help you.
