Default Cleaned and organized my closet

Whew am I tired!! On top of spending the entire day cleaning, doing laundry, and a ton of ironing, I also spent two hours inside my closet rearranging my clothes. It was a jumbled up mess and now it is all tidy and organized. I took out all the clothes that were to big for me, determined that I won't ever need to be in a size 20 again! And I put all the soon to be size 16's front and center so that I have to look at them before I get the 18's that I'm currently in. I have some gorgeous stuff in a size 14 that a friend gave me waiting in the wings. I'm excited thinking that soon I will actually starting wearing some of these clothes and not just buying and storing them.

My question is how much weight do you need to lose on an average before you are truly in a new size? I feel that if I lose 20 lbs I will for sure be wearing the 16 with comfort.

not sure if it's the same for everyone...for me...dropping 10 lbs helped get me into one size smaller...

which was more exciting???....dropping 10 lbs or going from the 180's to 170's
...170's to 160's...

good job on the cleaning of closets...wishing mine were done

Good for you! I need to do the same. Only to my whole dang house. *sigh*

It feels good to get that done! And good for you for throwing out the old clothes!

I'm not sure I can answer the size question. I was feeling frustrated because I'd lost 30 lbs and seemed to have only dropped one size, but then when I went to the Avenue to get a few new things, I was several sizes lower than I thought I was going to be. Also, my bottom half goes down in size quicker than my top.

I cleaned my closet a few weeks ago -- totally cathartic! As for the size question, it's different for everyone. Height, fat distribution, muscle mass, the clothing manufacturer etc. all factor in. For example, I'm 6 feet tall and have lost 44 pounds and haven't yet dropped from a size 24. But what I'm wearing is looser. The last time I was 166 pounds, I wore a 14. So that's a lot of pounds difference, but not a lot of sizes lost.

I started and I was verrrrrrrrry tight in a 24. I bought size 18 yesterday - snug but not as tight as the 24s (if that makes sense in a comparative way). So for me - 3 sizes = 71.5lbs

Congrats on the closet cleaning effort - I need to do a little of that myself one of these days soon. As to your question about sizes, my experience has been that at my higher weight, it would take 20-25 pounds or more before I needed a new size, but these days, 10 - 15 pounds seems to be the range for a size loss.

It seems to me that the more you weigh, the more you have to lose to drop a size. I read somewhere that 10 pounds = 1 size...but if that were true, us bigger girls would be wearing negative sizes by the time we got down in the 100's! I would say 20-30 pounds = 1 size until you get to onederland.

I am unsure. I know I can still wear a 20 now, but 16's stretchy's fit. I have ONE pair of TIGHT black 16 pants but i don't know if they are just cut that way. I do think once I get to 199 I should be in a 16 fine. You are taller than me so I think in 20 pounds you would definately be a 16!

I know when i was 15 I was about 220 and lost weight down to a 16. I was never on the scales much but when I remember being 185 and being a 14, 165 and being a 12 jeans.
