DH and I ordered a new scale online...the one we had was o-l-d and (it turns out) inaccurate. It finally got here yesterday evening. So we set it up. You can program your info into it so it can calculate your body fat %.

I was a very good girl. I resisted the temptation of stepping on it...until this morning. Monday's (yesterday) are my official weigh-in days and I was super happy to see the scale say 309. Well this morning when I stepped on the new scale, it showed 305! I know I didn't lose 4 pounds overnight, so that means my old scale has been weighing me too heavily since the beginning.

Part of me is SO happy I don't weigh as much as I thought I did. But part of me's a little mad. And I'm not totally sure why. It's like I set all these goals for myself and now they're all skewed. I know its irrational, but I've been working my butt off and watching the pounds drip and drop off (yay PCOS...). Then one day I lose 4 pounds and I can only wish it were my hard work that had accomplished that and not the new scale. Does that make any sense? Lol, probably not.

Just needed a place to vent and I know you guys will make me feel better.

Look at it this way - you are closer to your goal than you thought you were!

How does the body fat % thing work? Do yu think it's fairly accurate or is it a ball-park estimate?

Well personally I would be thrilled...my new scales weigh me two pounds HEAVIER LOL

I would be thrilled too. When I got a new scale it weighed 20lbs heavier than my old one!

I say definitely better to show you weighing less than more, but it is definitely frustrating. Unfortunately, most scales will be somewhat off from each other - they aren't as accurte as we would like to think. Kind of like clocks. The clock in my car is constantly gaining minutes and I have to reset it.

My home scale is an old analog one that is accurate, but you have to step on it 3 times and get the average rating. Kind of hard to see differences in the numbers.

Anyway, I'm sure it's low and just don't want to get another one because it will affect all my stats!!!

Well, considering when I replaced my old scale, I nearly keeled over. I was horrified to discover that it was weighing me 10 lbs lighter.

Could be worse. When I finally got a good scale, it showed I was actually 40 pounds heavier than I thought I was. That was a 40 pounds I had to lose all over again seemingly. I kicked my new scale, and actually broke a toe. I'm not sure which made me feel worse. Good story though.

Hahaha, I had to laugh because I had an old digital scale that I started with and recorded my starting weight from.

Well, along came my brother and he weighed himself just after having come from the doctors and knowing his exact weight.

So he figured the scale was about five pounds too heavy and *fixed* it without asking me. Ooooooo, I was so mad that he changed it. Because it left me with an uneasy sense of not knowing exactly how much I started from, even though it was a simple subtraction.

We are so used to weighing, measuring, counting while losing weight---we want exactness in order to feel comfortable and secure, so any change is going to be difficult LOL.
