Default Where to start?

Hello all - I've been here before but its been awhile I was diagnosed with PCOS about 8 years ago. I had one HORRIBLE experience with an endo and have been relying on my gyno for meds most of the time. I have the classic issues: weight gain, horrible time losing weight, very few periods, hair in places that a woman shouldn't have hair - to name a few.

I have my yearly appt. with my gyno tomorrow and want to start fresh and hopefully get on the right path. I've tried yasmin and meto in the past - but saw few positive side effects. My husband and I will be ready to have kids in about 2 years - so I want to take this time to get healthy now before we get to that point.

Should I seek out an endo in the area? I've had all the blood work, etc. to confirm my PCOS diagnosis. Should I just try the bcp, Meto, and possibly add Spiro this time?

By the way - I'm in Columbus, Ohio - so if anyone has fantastic dr. recommendation that would be great. I want a doctor who has a better advice and help than "lose weight." Obviously I'm trying ................

Hi There.

My best suggestion is to talk to your dr about your timeline. He/She should be able to tell you whether or not they think you need further intervention. My gyn told me that she can do some of the basic testing to make sure that there aren't any other problems with my reproductive system and that she would work with either my reg endo or an RE on meds and such.

Since we are TAB, she gave me a script for Yaz to see if that will help get things moving in the right direction as I really want to lose some weight before going to an RE.

Open communication with your dr is key. If you don't get the answer that you were hoping for or the dr seems hesitant. then definately seek out an endo to work with.
