Morning Everyone!! I figured since my cold and insomnia had me up I might as well do something worthwhile! Been battling this rotten cold for 3 days now-can't breathe without the cold medicine and if I take it I get so groggy I can't function. It has helped me stay on track though--no appetite! Pretty normal busy day ahead with school stuff--DS has the weird schedule-his basketball practice is from 6:00-9:00 tonight. These high school boys must love their basketball to give up a Friday night. Then he has practice again Sat. morning from 9:00 til 12:00. If I could just keep up with him I KNOW I would be in shape! I bought the Somersize book this last weekend and am looking forward to sitting down and reading her version of low carbing etc. this weekend. It looks very interesting. Well, that is it for me--I will check back in later when everyone else is awake. Have a great day everyone!!!!!
Good Early Morning AdoAnnie! Sure do hope you feel better soon! I hate having a cold. Love hearing about your son and his basketball...reminds me of my youth and those were fun years. (of course I did not like getting in the game...I just loved practice and being part of the team!)
More flylady for me today! Do any of you find that when you concentrate on one room the rest of your house goes down hill real fast? OY!
The big kid was home yesterday and will be home again today for teacher conventions. The little guy goes to school. It is nice having the one on one time with the older one but since I am cleaning he kind of keeps his distance!!!
I need more coffee!
have a great day!
peach
ps...Jenny? are you doing ok? I have a neat gift for the boys to make to give to their relatives but I can not post it because I know that sister not jif lurks!!!! hey not jif!
I slept until 6:30 this morning - maybe this is the start of a trend. No nightmares either! I have been having awful dreams the past two months - usually about someone breaking into my house or about losing something very important. I guess this is fallout from Sept. 11.
Spent yesterday just puttering around and sucking lozenges and Vitamin C and think this cold is headed off! (I wish yours would go away too, Annie.) Finally got all the summer stuff put away and the winter stuff out. I really hate that job! Last season I had to blush when I took a winter coat in to be cleaned at the end of June!
We STILL do not have the lights up as DH decided we need to buy some new ones. Cathyxxx, they just get put up - not turned on. It is so darn cold here we need to get them in place while we can do it without freezing our hands and butts. Pooky will agree with me on this one.
DH is off to the gym in a bit and I will go to the Office to get the Bingo money ready for the bank. There was a late Bingo last night and I refused to work for health reasons. (Now the rumours will start that I have some terrible disease! This village thrives on passing on bad news!) I know that 5 hours breathing in smoke is not good for my asthma so am going to opt out of as many as I can.
Mmmmmm - can smell chicken stock! I threw some legs in the crockpot last night and will make soup for lunch with my eggwhite and soy flour "noodles". There is nothing like soup on a cold and gloomy day. Wish I could pass it around.
Hey Ruth, speak for yourself--I have my lights turned on faithfully every night! (I'm just a sucker for Christmas! ) Actually, Ruth is right cathy, we NEED to get those lights out there early or we'll be buried in snow and then we don't want to put any out! (ask my neighbours, still trying to get lights out after 15 years! )
Well, I nearly burned my house down last night. It was my fault, I was cleaning out the woodstove yesterday morning and since we hadn't lit it in several days because it was rather warm out, I assumed that all the cinders were cold. I put them in a cardboard box on my back steps and fogot about them. Dh went to stoke the fire last night and spotted the flames and started screaming and hollering. Our back steps are made of old railway ties so it had burned a hole completely through one of them and was working on the next one. We brought the hose in and doused the fire and let it soak for a good long time. I feel more foolish than scared, I do have other railway ties and it looks like I'm going to have to dig out the one I burned and replace it or my dh is going to have even more fits than usual. Funny how it is sometimes, my dh was running around panicking and I was as calm as they come. I had already lived through a house fire when I was in university so I guess this small blaze just didn't faze me much. I just want to repair it because it really does look pretty bad.
As for today, I have a resume to get out and I may drop by the job center to see what they have.
I am going to go and eat some scrambled eggs now, have a great day chickies!
Morning clucks!
Sunny here this morning -- but chilly. I left my footprings in the frosty-crunchy grass as I walked the dogs this morning. We're supposed to be in the 60's this weekend. Good November!
Not much to say -- Fridays are spent preparing to stand in front of class for 3 hours on Saturday morning. My goal is to keep them awake (we start at 8)...not everyone is a morning person like moi. (One morning I sang and danced to the Brittney Spears Pepsi commercial. You should have seen their faces...)
The boy's coming home this weekend to do laundry and scrounge around in my cupboards for food to take back to school. Whatever it takes -- it will just be good to reach up and pinch his little, semi-whiskered cheeks once again.
Good morning!
I completely agree with you, Ruth about smoke. It is not good for anyone, especially someone with a respiratory problem. I can't abide cigarette smoke either.
My edema seems better today and, no I didn't lay down yesterday. I completely forgot about it! I guess it isn't high on my list.
Zookeeper and I are planning our Thanksgiving. It will be at her house with her in-laws. They're such nice people! We're so blessed in that we all get along so well.
Today is a bit of cleaning and folding laundry. My dryer isn't working well and DH has to pick up a part tomorrow. Other than that, nothing is new here.
Have a safe and happy weekend and God bless!
Oh Pooky what a night!!!! I wish we had some kindling brought in for our wood stove, a fire sounds good but I don't feel like messing with getting it started just for the morning.
Sorry so many of you are fighting those nasty colds. OOO Ruth your chicken soup sounds like a good idea.
Trying to straighten my guest room out. I've got the bed piled high with stuff to put on my dolls. I need a bunch of plastic cartons to organize that room with. I'm getting ready for a craft fair at the end of the month so its worse now than ever.
It is Friday! Yippee Tiiiiii Yiiiiiii Yaaaaaa! lol
I've had a good week back on track and I feel good about things! Funny how feeling in control and eating right and exercising and reaching your daily goals can help your frame of mind!
I hope everybody has a great day and a great weekend!
Sherrie - Are twins a possibility for your sister??
MamaJ - We're having trouble with both of our cars. One got brought to the mechanic today and the other will be brought to the dealership as soon as the first one is back. Think it's these horrible Houston streets??
Annie - If I ever make it to goal I plan to use Somersizing for maintenance.
Pooky - I'm really appreciating my ceramic gas log fireplace right now. Glad ya'll are alright.
Cathy - I'm not going to be able to chat Saturday. Maybe next weekend? I'll e-mail you soon. Very busy today.
All you sick chicks take care.
Hi to Peach, Ruth, Sooner, Tippy, Toni and all to come
It's a rare gorgeous day here on the not-so-wet coast. I am going to go outside and tackle my weedy flower beds and try to get some bulbs planted.
Good news this morning. I lost another whole pound. It's been weeks and weeks since I've lost more than a fraction of a pound so I've now reached the grand total of 19 pounds lost since mid-June. It works out to almost exactly one pound a week. I'm sure not winning any races here but I'm not complaining.
This morning I went for my swim and then to my WW meeting. Our discussion this week was about remaining focussed through the coming holidays...not an easy task for people who have an active social life but I don't have that problem.
Yesterday I drove DH to the airport and he will be gone to visit his family in Germany for the next 10 glorious days. Yippee! Now, don't get me wrong, I do miss the miserable old fart. It's just so nice not to have to pack a lunch for him every morning, not have to make different meals for him either, and no wretched paperwork every night when we're both exhausted and short-tempered. I can just concentrate on pleasing myself this week, something I rather enjoy doing.
So sorry our Ruth and Annie are feeling under the weather. At least you're getting your winter colds over with early. With my luck it will hit right at Christmas.
So, my fine feathered friends, enjoy the rest of your day and the weekend. I'm off to plant bulbs.
Don't mean to sound crass, but business was really booming at the cemetery today! Worked some of my butt off, I'm sure. Got a baby shower for a friend tomorrow, then next Saturday is the one for Sis. By the way, JHP, she swears it's not twins, but we are not so sure.
Hope those nasty colds go away soon, I've been fighting one for going on 3 weeks now. Yuck! Ya'll take good care of yourselves.
Well, off to clean this wreck I live in, let's see how long it stays that way!
