Red face Suggestions Please!!

Hello!!

I am new to 3fc, I joined back in December but I was going through a lot of different things and now I am ready to get focused, healthy, and feel good about myself!!

I am looking for a group or person(s) to help me stay motivated, I NEED to answer to someone and kind of feel I have competition. Does anyone have any suggestions? or are looking for the same thing?

For most of my life about 22 years or so I was thin and it was only been about the last 5 years of so that I have been struggling with my weight. I did lose quite a bit and I am now at the heaviest I have been. I need help!!

Thanks for all suggestions and comments!!

Debbie

This group is really supportive. Welcome!

I find joining in on discussions and talking about my own struggles really helps me to be accountable for my choices. There are tons of great ideas on here and people who are struggling with the same things. There are a lot of different types of groups as well depending on what you have identified as your obstacles. For me, I became a binge eater for emotional reasons so I found joining the Chicks in Control group was very helpful. Just to get through some tough times and get to know people who struggle with the same issue. If you join the weekly chat on this group, there would be lots of encouragement as well.

I had been thin all my life as well until all of a sudden I started bingeing and just kept getting bigger than I should be. I found that reading a bunch of books and really trying to get to the root of the issue was the only thing that helped to turn me back around. I had tried dieting but found it to be impossible if my head wasn't in the right place. I'd lose then gain then lose again only to be the heaviest I had ever been. I found it really helpful to examine what I was gaining out of being heavier: for me I was really unhappy iwth my job and my life and was escaping social situations by staying home and eating. It really had nothing to do with food. I also went through a list of the reasons why my weight loss attempts have not worked in the past and wrote out several goals to achieve on a certain time line. Then I made a plan with my exercise and my eating in order to make sure I get to that goal.

Most importantly, I assume I am going to succeed. I used to hope for the best and expect the worst but thanks to a few books including the Celestine Prophecy and The Secret, I've realized I was setting myself up for failure. I have to believe in myself in order to succeed.

Anyway, I think what I'm trying to say here, is that everyone on here struggles and has successes as well and they are all very supportive if you are looking for answers and encouragement.

Good luck with your weight loss and your goals. YOu can do it! Keep posting.

I think being able to track what you eat and see exactly the change is something that is great.

Thanks for all the feedback.

What I am going to do is track my food, which I have done on and off, through fitday. I am also going to find a challenge to join and make myself accountable to that group. I just have to make this coming to this website a priority. I want to change and I have to do this now.

The monthly competitions we have here for exercise are very good. Also have you considered blogging? I used to find that havign others be able to read what I had eaten/done for a workout (or not done lol) held me a bit more accountable.

I feel like I need the accountability as well, but also for some reason feel like it would be nice to confess things to that I am ashamed to do with "real" people in my life. So, I am hoping the forum works.

Let me know if you feel like making a team where we both kinda use each other.

I am with you. I also feel like I need or have to answer to someone. To have someone know exactly how much I weighed and how much I've lost. I don't want to let that person down. If I was losing weight along side of someone that would be great!! That is the ultimate motivation for me.
