Default New to 3fc looking for support

Hi everyone,
I started a resolution this year to finally lose the weight I've been wanting to lose for almost 4 years. I kept putting it off until "tomorrow" but tomorrow came and went and I never did anything permanent about it. I've also tried endless diets only to fail on them due to deprivation or giving up during stressful times (I am an emotional overeater).

I was overweight in childhood from about age 7 to age 21 when I went from 190 to 140 lbs. I kept the weight off for about a year and then my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Over the next year I gained about 30 lbs but didnt feel it much b/c I would be able to lose it quickly..no problem! Unfortunately I didn't do anything about it and after my mom passed away 30 lbs turned into 100 lbs and I now weigh 240 lbs, more than I ever have in my life. I just kept ignoring the scale as it was going up and didn't even realize how big I had gotten until I went wedding dress shopping and was at a size 18 (this was at 200 lbs). Now I wish I could fit into an 18 again b/c I can't even buy regular size clothes..they are all plus-sized.

Sorry I've written so much but I am looking forward to the support I will receive on this site. It's going to be a long journey and hopefully I made the right first step.

Never apologize for writing too much We're here to listen to each other and support each other!

Welcome to 3FC, and good luck on your journey. There's lots of helpful info here if you look around. Do you have a specific plan you're following? There are plan-specific forums, too, that might help.

Otherwise, welcome, hope to see you around!

Welcome!
I am sorry to hear about your mom, I hope she is doing better.
Also, congratulations on the initial loss. That is always encouraging because you know that you can do it because you have done it before. My initail biggest problem/fear was that I simply would not be able to shift the weight off.
