Is TOPS faith based? All the ones in my area seem to be at churches.

I don't think so lizziness. Most of the ones here in my area are not in churches. There is one I believe. I think the have there meetings in places where they have to pay a low rental fee this way they don't have to charge their members a big fee. Makes sense to me.

Liz, Tops is a non profit organization. Most churches allow Tops to have meetings either freee or very low cost rent ... Thats why you see a lot of Tops groups meeting at churches.. Barb

Yes, ours are all at churches too, but they're not faith based. For more information, you can go to tops.org.

I can say with 100% certainty that if TOPS were faith based, I would not be a member (this is why I've avoided Overeaters Anonymous--programs involving a "higher power" don't suit my lifestyle.beliefs very well). Our meetings are held in a church for the same reasons already mentioned: available space to hold us all and cheap rent (in fact, I think they only suggest we make a "donation" rather than actually charging us real rent at all).
