I read on here that 8oz Almond Breeze counted as a condiment, where does that say it in the LAWL materials? Was someone told that? I am curious b/c I was going to try it in my cereal b/c I dont want to waste my D on the milk in my cereal.
I also am going to talk to my Doctor tomorrow about the 1 D serving we get. Even with calcium supplements I dont think it is enough, I will see what she says.
It isn't in the materials, but someone (Holly or Evette or Cassi?) checked with the LA chef and that's what it came back as. I really like it.
I'm not a milk person, so I'm probably getting more calcium than before, but I think there is a good amount of calcium in veggies, so maybe that's where you get it from on this diet?
OK... so last week I counted the 8oz Almond Breeze as two condiments following Holly's lead. Then I realized I was using the original (60 cal) and she was using the unsweetened (40 cal). So I e-mailed the LA dietician and I was told that BOTH the unsweetened and the original count as one dairy, but only use them once or twice a week. Since this is in contradiction to the other e-mail from the LA dietician, and since there is no way I am counting 40 calories as a full dairy, I am going back to the unsweetened Almond Breeze as 1/2 dairy. This is 8oz for 40 calories. If it seems to affect anything, I will adjust.
I would call and ask--my big supermarket had it in the cereal aisle with the Rice Dream, etc. It's not refrigerated. I called to see if they had it and automatically ask for the whole foods section and assumed it would be with all the organic stuff but it wasn't. It's so much easier to just ask rather than wander all over the store.
Cassi - I have the unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze here at work and it is 40 calories for 8 oz. I used it for the first time today on some Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal and it was really good. I wasn't expecting to like it but I did. Hope this helps!
