Weird pattern of weight this TOM. More whatev.

Quote: I have lost at least 30lb doing these 5lb challenges.
Good stuff. I have lost 21.5 pounds since my first challenge (#25). Well, that's an average of 1.14 pounds per challenge . But so what, because I can tell you this, 138 is a lot different than 159.5
  • I've been gaining weight every day this week, except one. Looking back, I'm seeing it started the day after I started eating cereal for b'fast instead of yogurt. I was still keeping my daily cals under the limit, but I don't normally eat grains, so I assume that's got to be the culprit. I'll ditch the cereal and see what happens. I was just looking for variety, but 4.4 lbs up in a week ain't worth it! On the plus side, I'm feeling good and not bloaty or anything, but I'm pretty sure it's not 4 lbs of muscle.

I would like to see 194 before my "big monthly gain".
  • FB and all:

I was just thinking...wouldn't it be great to have someone tell you the exact reason you gain or not loose when you are OP and exercising. There are so many variables that it can get frustrating. Am I drinking too much water or not enough? Am I exercising too much or not enough? Am I eating too much or not enough? I have tried looking these things up but there are so many answers that it is useless. I am going to keep going and try to not get frustrated or impatient. It still is much better than gaining and not paying any attention to it.
  • Well, glory hallelujah!! I'm under 180 after 4 days at an absolute stand still!!!

    SW: 181.4
    CW: 179.4
    GW: 176.4

This is soooo close to my V-day goal and 10%!

Yes, it really would be quite wonderful to know the reasons why. I know I might sound petty, but I'm really brand new at this when you think about it - even after losing 145 pounds the fluctuations still bother me. Particularly during TOM when I stay on plan despite major cravings and feelings of laziness. The childish part of me feels like I should be rewarded with positive scale feedback.

I wish there was a formula or logical explanation. No matter, it doesn't mean I'll stray off plan - it would be nice though, to have an instruction manual for my body. The fun part of this is experimenting with the variables you mentioned and getting to know my body and it's needs better. I'm like a... mad scientist!

My theory is that this is a weight my body KNOWS. This is a weight I effortlessly stayed at before I gained weight. It's my sticking point, I can deal with this. Despite my height it's not an ideal weight for me. I have a small frame, a good amount of bodyfat and the green flag to continue from my doctors.

Ah well, I like to whine. The 5# challenge lets me get it allllll out. In reality, this (the fluctuations and stagnant weight) is good for me though, an invaluable lesson for when I get to maintain and no longer lose. It's what I'll cope with every morning. Yay!
  • We will Jammy, soon too. It's coming. Look how far you and I have come through challenges in the last 12.5 months! This will be laughable in another 12.5.
