Well I am back home and VERY happy to be here! I am officially 10 weeks today. I have my next ultrasound 2 weeks from Tuesday. Oh and did I mention that I had a remission test for the leukemia 2 weeks ago and it was negative? Next one will be on the 23rd of October, same day as the ultrasound.

I don't think it was so much that I was on a naval base, but that I was on a 1 sq mile naval base on an island in the Bahamas that is NOT a tourist island and where all the food gets barged in and out. Therefore, not much fresh food and not a whole lot of "good" food (in my opinion). At least for the past year that I've gone down there I haven't gotten sick from the food (which is what used to happen). I work at the naval base in RI as a government civilian. What does your husband do in the Navy?
Vanessa - I'm sure some of that was just water weight! I have been tempted to buy candy corn, but luckily I have to think about not just me anymore when I eat. That tends to help in making good food choices!
lizzy - I'm sure if you really put your mind to it you will be back on track in no time
hope - Way to go on the attitude change! Lately for me its been "if I eat THAT I'm going to be sick, so instead I'll eat this other thing that is carby or very starchy". I definitely haven't been getting in enough veggies because of that.
I had one good day yesterday, or decent day, at least. 27.5 points, but I earned 3 activity, and then used a few flexies. Some of those points were alcohol, but I didn't overdo it. This morning, the scale said 130.6. So close!!
Hopefully I'll stay OP today, too. I need to go grocery shopping and get settled back in at home after being away for a few days.
Mod -- that is wonderful to hear about the remission test. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you for the next one!
Tarah -- keep it up!! you'll get past the plateau. We always do!
Vanessa -- thanks for the encouragement!!
OK. I am going to get going. This day is going too quickly. Later!!
I have a question for you guys -- I started waitressing. I put that as activity last night -- many, many minutes of "leisurely walking." It ended up 13 APs! I kind of feel like I'm cheating...what do you think?
modkittn - I used to be a government contractor at a naval base in Charleston, that's where I met my husband when he was on shore duty. He's a submariner. That's great about your remission test being negative!
shrinkinglizzy - You're so close to your goal, that's awesome! As for all the APs from waitressing, hmmm. Since you're not eating 13 APs a day I wouldn't think that's cheating.
celery - Welcome! I just started a few weeks ago myself.
My mom left today after a week's visit. We only ate fast food one time, and I got a chili and side salad and NO soda. Much better than my old usual of a super-sized combo with a Coke.
After a couple of days of hiking up my jeans, I went and dug a pair of my 16s out of the office closet and tried them on. They fit! My other jeans were size 18 that I got at the Old Navy $12 jeans sale back in August, and they were unflatteringly snug then and are now too big. Woo hoo! I told DH, but he just can't appreciate the excitement of fitting into pre-pregnancy jeans.
We've been zooming through late summer/fall with selling house, moving, trying to get everything together for closing for next mortgage! Things were clicking along, then a couple blips, but nothing major, now it's seeming like things are going to work out again.
We're staying in our camper for the time being and long commute so more eating out than I would like, have been almost maintaining...but WW@Work is starting Oct. 22nd, so I'm taking this as an opportunity to get back on track for real and hopefully get back to goal.
Mod, sounds like you have great news, congats on your 10 wks and remission, wishing you the best. My friend at work is due in March.
hey Ladyscorpio, it doesn't get 'better' it gets easier... time really is a great healer... but it takes a LONG LONG time.
I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a mom is one of the hardest things a woman/girl can go through no matter how old you are.
my mom died when I was 35 and a dear family friend said 'you are so young to lose your mother'.... I had NO clue what she meant till there was no one to discuss my peri-menopause with.....
Thanks Nessa.. it is never easy - no matter what the age

Shrinking: It's so good to see you happy about everything...it seems that you are in an inspired mood...it's great! Great job on staying on track
Kestrel: Good job on staying on track with your mom. I have the same problems of eating really bad around my parents...I have the opposite problem when it comes to jeans. I bought a size 16 when I was 211 and then I gained 8 pounds back so now they don't fit! They were a little tight when I bought them and now they are unbelievable tight I can't even wear them!
~Well as for me, I haven't been posting in a while. I have been reading every page, but I don't really post because my weight loss has been a disaster. But today starts a new week for me, so I am going to try to stay on track all week, and not binge or use ALL my flex points. The problem is my boyfriend and my best friend both eat terribly and I am around them all the time, so I end up eating bad. I am definitely a food addict!
Ugh I have now gained 7-8 pounds!!!! It was only 4... until I weighed myself this morning. I hadn't weighed myself in 2-3 weeks. I was also traveling, which is HORRIBLE for my weight. I know its mostly all fat that I gained and I can't do anything to get rid of it, which makes me kind of mad. I at least took that frustration and made a very healthy dinner last night - pork roast, roasted potatoes, corn, and cranberry sauce. Yummy!
Kestrel -- on the jeans!! those are the best NSVs, IMHO. Denim NSVs. Woohoo!!
Kel -- wow you do have a lot going on!! Best of luck with everything. Sounds very hectic.
Scorpio --
Vday -- you know what's funny is I hadn't even noticed that I am in a better mood. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! Now, as for your struggles, I"m officially for you! Do your boyfriend and best friend know that you're trying to lose? That might make it easier for you to turn down their nasty foods. I know you can do this!!!
Mod -- that dinner sounds delish. Sorry to hear about the gain, but I definitely can't keep up with understanding what to expect when you're expecting! Don't you get to forgive yourself these things? Well, I forgive you, anyway!

Ugh I had been doing so well, then last night ate a bunch of thai take out with my family. If I had remembered that my WI is this morning, I think I could have more easily abstained, but I forgot about that until after I had finished and felt soooooooo full. And the scale is showing it this morning, and I really don't want to count this weigh in because I think it's all water! Or, mostly water, anyway. So, today will be super low sodium and then I'll WI tomorrow.
Hey gals! I have time to actually reply to everyone now

lizzy - I don't know about those waitressing points. In your previous job were you on your feet a lot? I don't know if I'd count it as leisurely walking either. I'd probably figure out the points for that and then cut it in half. But if you were on your feet at your previous job, I wouldn't put in for APs at all, since your body is used to that much activity. Sodium does me in too! Just drink lots and lots of water I had chinese this weekend - YUM.
kestrel - Wow.. I think that submariners' wives must have it rough when they are at sea! Do you two have any children?
kelijpa - I like having dates for goals - good luck getting on track!
vdaybaby - I want to ask the same thing as lizzy. Do your boyfriend and friend know you are trying to lose weight? Have you talked to them about trying to be a little more supportive?

With the new way to figure your target points for the day, activity level is taken in consideration there. I know I am very active at work, always running up and down the stairs between our floors. So I would maybe re-figure your daily points target by redoing the quiz thing in the week 1 book.

Oooh that is a great idea, I didn't even think of it! I heartily agree!
