Coffeebean-I agree that IP is a gift! That someone figured out the science behind it and all I have to do is follow the protocol as written takes so much stress out of my life. The time will come when I'll have to (and want to) know and understand everything at a deeper level, but right now I need extreme simplicity and IP is perfect! All the best to you to finish your vacation strong!

Unofficially down 15 pounds and into a new "decade." Woot! I'll know for sure tomorrow.

Frawniemae-

I have never told my husband my starting weight. I would be ashamed if he knew. He doesn't know how much I weigh now, all he knows is how much I lost. Maybe I will tell him when I get to my goal. I know that he loves me for who I am. He is proud of me for losing weight but he doesn't make a big deal out of it. I know that he truly loves me no matter what I weigh. Your husband obviously feels the same way! We are lucky gals. My ex husband was HORRIBLE about my weight. He was verbally abusive. I guess he thought that would make me lose weight, but it had the opposite affect.

It's funny how some people will try to trick me to find out my starting weight. For instance my DIL will say, how much have you lost? and then, what weight do you want to be? She's too obvious. Again, maybe when I get to my goal I will reveal the scary truth!!

Fifth!!
My hubby has lost about 30 pounds since I've been on IP, just by eating healthier.

I didn't want to tell him my weight initially either, but when I lost weight before we had our son I put a notepaper in the bathroom to track my losses. So he knew. Now I'm at a weight where I was before I met him, so that's been interesting.

Day 10 and still cruising along. I messed up a bit yesterday by going 6 hours without eating thanks to lack of planning, and I think I fell short 1 cup of veggies, but other than that and a few small scheduling and portion mishaps, I feel confident I can stick it out this time. My first weigh-in since restarting will be on Tuesday morning. I'm hoping I'll be down at least 10 lbs (it'll be two weeks after starting; I'm trying to space out my appointments to make them last longer). I'm not dyyying for junk food like I was last time I was on the program. I feel a strong pull toward it but if I wait a few moments it passes. I really do find IP offers satisfying foods for the most part. My favorite thing to have for breakfast is the vanilla shake mixed with a shot of espresso over ice. Then I like to have a restricted bar a few hours after that. I may need to start eating a couple eggs or something else in the morning, though, because I find I'm hungry only an hour and a half/two hours after having the shake.

I completely agree. The science is amazing! I don't know what I'd do without IP. It seems to be exactly what I need!

Wow this actually looks really cool. I'd have to lose 6 lbs in 4 weeks which is definitely a challenge for me, but within the realm possibility for sure! I might join it!!

Gosh, y'all could give a girl a big head with all these compliments! I have never thought of myself as an encourage but I have always hoped I inspired anyone I've come across in some way or another. Thanks for the kindness!

I even accidently posted on FB that I had let it slip, thinking I was posting to my IP support group. I hadn't even posted on my home page about being on any kind of diet yet! The likes and supportive comments have been over the top BUT I will not put my SW on FB (I have in the IP support group but nowhere else). When I reach goal and put up my final before and afters, then I'll post it.

I blend a couple good handfuls of spinach in with my morning RTD (remember raw is unlimited) and that seems to keep my from the hungries until lunchtime. Celery sticks and cucumber wedges also help if the hungries start showing their head before any mealtime.

I was telling him that I use the number from my scales but I started keeping track using the numbers that my cardiologist recorded at his office back on Jan 14.

I told him I hadn't wanted him to know. But he just said that he's glad I decided to do something about it, that he had been worried about my future health. But, I never wanted him to know just how fat I had left myself become. The number is still devastating to me.
I have just recently started to talk to my husband about where I started. He has been so supportive of this journey and this morning thanked me again for doing this for myself and for our future together. He was so happy when I started you could almost see the relief as he was worried about where I was and could get to if I did not make a change. I am grateful he did not push me as I needed to want this for myself but at times I wish there was a little nudge to make me want to start before I did!

There are chunks of preserved lime in a paste of spices and oils, so I suppose you could marinate something with it, but it's quite strongly lime flavoured and very spicy (not quite Goan hot, though) so it's great to mix into other foods. You'd have to like very hot foods to just use it as a condiment straight. I make an Indian style dip with it for veggies too, in maintenance I use plain Greek yogourt and the pickle mixed in although I make sure there are no big chunks of lime as it's awkward to dip then. I've used it as a sandwich spread at times too (good for roast beef or turkey or chicken).
I think it would be yummy spread on chicken for the barbecue as a marinade/rub. The yogourt dip mix would be good for topping chicken breast to bake in the oven, similar to a tandoori paste.

I have a huge spice box as I cook Asian a lot! I even have asafoetida powder, fenugreek leaves, dried lemongrass, saffron threads, and kaffir lime leaves.

Try the old water trick. 8oz before you eat, 8oz after. You'll be amazed at how filling water can be. Eggs are good filler though, and don't forget your freebie lettuce and cucumber - so if you need a small "meal" you have options in there.

I think the reason we succeed is because WE are truly ready. Had we been pushed earlier rather than coming to the realisation that we needed to take action, I know I would've been resentful and felt forced into doing it against my will. This way is better. The success or failure can be made easier or harder by family & friends, but ultimately it's down to us. So glad you have a supportive hubby who is looking forward to the future with his wife with more opportunities opening up ahead of her.

Just got my "congratulations on turning 50, let us help you celebrate with a colonoscopy" appointment through. Looking at the pre-procedure requirements is not filling me with happiness. A gallon of of sludge-remover to be imbibed 8oz at a time, every 10 minutes until it's gone? Eeeeek, I barely manage 84oz a day now. Plus, liquid diet for the last 24 hours? No red jello? This is going to severely cramp my style. Anyone got some ideas, or done colonoscopy on IP before? Grateful for any suggestions at this point. I have a month to plan!

Heading to my first industry networking event. Dinner and open bar provided.

Super nervous, can't calm my nerves with wine, and on top of that, not sure if I can eat anything there. Bringing a Quest bar just in case, and planning to drink seltzer all night. Wish me luuuuuuck... DX

You are 100% right on in stating that we need to be ready... The other secret sauce to my success is this forum, especially the Nov'14 starters and the power posters like you, Lisa, etc... I am sure that I would not be down 61lbs if it weren't for 3FC! So I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
