  • No my was the stressless stress test. They injected some stuff and then took pictures of my heart for 15 minutes. Waited another 15 minutes or so,then was injected with some more stuff. Walked on the trendmill for 4 minutes. This medince made you feel you had been walking for a long time. Your legs got tried and heavy, arms too. Sat in a chair for 5 minutes. All this time you have leads attach to your heart etc. Sat in the waiting room for another 45 minutes, then 15 more minutes of pictures.

  • Wow, that gives me stress just thinking about it.

How are you feeling now? You had a long day
  • Hi ThinGirl,
Weekends can be a bit of a challenge for me also, i tend to eat later than i normally would because im sleeping in. just try to stock the house with the good foods so when u do go to grab for something, it can't do a whole lot of damage. thats the best i can come up with

  • I try to have the same foods as during the week, but I usually make an extra nice dinner for my hubby which is a temptation for me, also my daughter likes to bake muffins or something on weekends.

Weekdays are no brainers in comparison.
  • Hey everyone! I have had a VERY busy day. Went out for Dim Sum with my neighbor and her daughter, then shopping at Dollar Tree and Walmart...alas we are BIG spenders! haha! Then my daughter's in laws arrived for my son in law's uncle's funeral. We ended up going out to dinner with them, before my daughter and son in law drove them up to north Georgia to the other brother's house. That brother's wife is my pottery partner....

So I ate two naughty meals out today. I got in the pool tonight for 30 minutes of water aerobics.

My morning bgs are staying down...I am so excited! Still no word from the doctor on my lab work yet.

Gotta go crawl in bed, so night all!
  • Hi everyone! I'm sorta new at this!

My blood sugar is always high in the mornings, 190
I am having lots of trouble with regards to planning and making healthy meals. The British people dont seem to enjoy a wide variety of tastes and foods! We're basically always having MaidRite sandwiches (lean ground turkey loose meat with a slice of cheese melted over it on a bun), or sausages! Really bland stuff to me!

I've been given a great incentive for losing weight, but I am not sure how to couple that with my diabetes and the fact that my fiance is a twig!
  • Good morning everyone,

On weekends, I try new low-carb recipes. That makes the weekends special without my gaining weight.

This morning my BS was 124. I have a question, what should BS be in the morning & what should it be 2 hours after eating. I have 80-120 for both. Is that correct?

  • Good Morning . . .

Many things to do and many places to go today . . . and I'm running late of course. At least it looks like a sunny day (but cool) is shaping up nicely. Finally going to get my windshield replaced today. Have to get the annual safety inspection done on my car by the end of this month and it won't pass with that cracked glass.

The lobster was absolutely marvellous last night (had to beat the cats off to eat it of course) and I did manage to overeat my preferred calorie range -- proving yet again that too much of a good thing is still too much. Silly old BGL was 6.3 (113) this morning. Still in the acceptable range, but higher than I like to be.

Welcome to the group CASANDRA . . . and . . . as well. You have definitely come to the right place for lots of support and friendship as you travel down the long and winding road to better health and fitness, Chickie. Glad to have you joining us . . .

Speaking of blood glucose levels . . . here is an informative article about hypoglycemia . . . http://www.everydayhealth.com/Public...=1&searchTerm=

See you all later, gang . . . try to have a great moving and shaking kind of day . . .

Yes . . . Within two to three hours after eating, your BGL should have returned to the normal range. So 80 to 120 (4.5 to 6.6) is good for both those time frames. Right after eating (around the 1 hour postprandial mark) you can expect higher readings, of course. Anything under 180 (10) is acceptable then. More than that and you've probably had too big a meal.

Lynn, I have some information that differs slightly from Meowee's. It says to check before a meal and two hours after. (exactly two hours after) The difference should not be more than 50 points. If it is, you should eat less carbs. This jives with what I have heard about post-prandial blood glucose levels. I was told to check TWO hours after to see the meals effect, not one. The target then is to be below 140. You might want to discuss it with your doctor and ask what their target is for you for those tests.
  • Just saying hi to all here. I've been doing better lately and finally the scales are starting to show a change...after two years of this it's about time. By really watching my calories I'm finding the weight is finally starting to go down. (There goes my theory of my meds slowing my weight loss down...dang it, now I can't blame my doctor when I get home!!!!)
So glad you all are here encouraging and supporting each other.
  • Poor Lynn . . . Sorry if we are confusing you . . .

Bottom line . . . as Monet mentioned . . . check with your own doctor or DEC for the specific guidelines they want you to follow.

I guess different DECs (Diabetes Education Centres) have slightly different guidelines -- might be CDA (Canada) vs ADA (US) viewpoints also. Mine was quite specific about 1 to 2 hours after eating being considered post-prandial and 2 to 3 hours being the point at which readings should be returning to pre-prandial. So, guess I'm not sure where that puts "exactly 2 hours". Nor am I sure what "returning" really means in the penultimate sentence either.

I've actually never heard the 50 points (which would be 2.8 Canadian/European) difference before as an indication of too high a carb content in your meal . . . I definitely like the sound of it a lot, though.
  • Hi all. Welcome to the new people since last time I was here. It's nice to meet all of you. I've had grandkids for past 3 days, so haven't had any computer time......they're on it all the time. Boy, they wear me out having them in bunches. But I love summer, when I get them in bunches. I save up the joy & it keeps me going thru the times I don't see them much. Two of them are 16 and working now, so I treasure every minute I get with them. Every summer I think "this will be the summer they're too busy for time with grandma", but so far it hasn't happened yet. Hope everyone has a good day and a wonderful weekend. I've got to get myself back on track with eating and exercise plan. It tends to go out the window when there's a lot of chaos around me.
  • Morning All,
Basics first: 124 this am bsl. not supprising, i treated a low at 4 am and i get up to test at 6:30am. oh well not to bad. I started working out again last nite and got in a good hour of dance and toning. man i always put it off but when i get it done i feel so much better. I wanna go for a run/walk around the lake after work but its COLD here in San Francisco. So maybe it will warm up enough for me to hit the lake.. if not gonna tae boe and dance for 2 hours. i gotta get up to that level, i think its the only way for me to really burn fat. the pesky 2lbs are still hanging on but hopefully with renewing my workouts and eating better that will change. to the newbies, are lil family is just growing and growing huh well im gonna get back to work and touch base a lil take care all
