Hi Everyone! Been on atkins this time since Jan. 1, down 54 lbs so far. I've reached my goal weight on Atkins before, and gained it all back when I was going through some rough stuff.
I found this group because I really need someone to talk to about low carb, seems everyone I know does weight watchers. Look forward to getting to know all of you!

Rocki,
You've lost 17lbs!!! SEVENTEEN! I think you're just in a temporary stall.
You don't weigh yourself once a day, do you?

Hang in there, I KNOW things will move again in the right direction. You may need to up your calories and fiber too.....

Thank you, but most of that weight was from MRC (diet plan I did 3 years ago). I left my heaviest starting weight on there to remind myself that I didn't gain ALL the weight back, just most of it. I lost 48 lbs on that plan from Feb 2008 to April 2009. I kept it off until December 2009. I've, since then, gained all but 10 lbs back and have managed to lose 6. All in all I'm down 17 lbs for 3 years. Since starting Atkins on March 2 I've lost 8 lbs and then gained 3 back. I've lost 5 lbs in 3 weeks, and most of that was in the first 8 days. That's it. It's frustrating because I can't seem to lose more. I stick to the plan and I cheated twice. I know that's not good, but you'd think I would start losing again after I'm back on track and it hasn't been working that way. I think this is the plan for me, but it's upsetting that I can't make it work right. I'm gonna change my ticker and siggy to show what the atkins numbers are.

that is SO awesome! Welcome to the group. I love your avatar picture. Is that your son? He's adorable whoever he is!

What is a typical daily menu for you? I'd love to hear how you've been able to lose that much weight in 2.5 months. That is great! Also, do you exercise, and if so, how much and what do you do?

Thanks Rocki! Yes thats my son.
I'm in a weight loss competition for an $800 prize, so I've been playing and tweaking with my diet to try and get the best results.
I eat eggs daily for breakfast, usually 2-3 fried eggs. I've pretty much completely cut out cheese, ,sour cream and cream cheese also. So mostly just plain meat and veggies with the occasional splurge after weigh in day, lol. I also watch my calories, I try not to go over 1600-1800, usually stay around 1600. I exercise 2-3 times a week for about an hour at the gym.
One thing that works for me, and I normally wouldn't recommend this, but if I haven't lost any weight that week, the day before weigh in, I'll have an egg day. Pretty much eat only fried eggs all day. It never fails, I'm always down 2 lbs or better after an egg day. And I drink TONS of water. Thats it.
I really do want this to be a lifestyle, its not just about the prize, I am definitely planning on keeping this woe long term. I was at a very unhealthy weight, wasn't sleeping, couldn't breathe well, and had really bad heartburn. All of that has disappeared. The weekly weigh in is just a good motivator to help me along.

Wow, just meat and veggies? No cheese and no one minute muffins? That is so awesome. I just can't seem to do it. I hope you win that competition. You are doing great!

I've been in PA for 2 weeks and haven't been able to weigh myself (they're all super thin and their scale gives an error when I step on it LOL). I'll see in a few days if I've lost while I'm here.

It's that flax meal muffin others have mentioned called either Muffin in a Minute (in the Atkins books) or One Minute Muffin as people say on here. It's flax meal, egg, baking powder, splenda and butter. It's supposed to be just 1.5 g of carbs per muffin b/c the fiber in the flax meal cancels out the carbs. It's probably not as good for you as I'd like to think b/c I eat too many! It does mention it in the Atkins getting started programs they have out now, so I was eating them (too much as I said).

Hi Rocki - remember atkins makes you flush water- "cheating" makes you retain water so that may explain why you're up after cheats. (Although I should talk,) Atkins isn't really one of those diets you can cheat on while in induction.

How is everyone feeling?

I am almost to my short term goal. I have been fighting to lose these 15 pounds for about 5 weeks now. So 2 more pounds and I have it. I finally got past my plateau but it took 2 weeks.

This weekend was tough for me because I was at a work function for 3 days and I found myself deconstructing sandwiches, picking the meat and cheese off pizza and wiping of the sauce, and unwrapping kolaches to get to the meat, but I didn't give in to temptation and dropped some weight. I'm happy.

I do have to say I have been adding one Atkins shake to my plan each day in place of breakfast or lunch and it has helped...and I'm full after I drink it so I'm not snacking in between. After I did that, I noticed that is when I pushed passed the plateau.

I have one month til Jamaica so I hope I can get 10 more off I would love to go 25 pounds lighter and back into some of the clothes that I haven't been able to wear!
