Stay At Home Mom! I really wish I could stay home with my son (I stayed home with him the first year) . . . but I'm working to build onto our house so that I can stay home with our next one for at least a year (maybe longer if I can convince my hubby!) So simple wish for me.


I want a WII so bad I can taste it! I wanted one for Christmas but hubby couldn't find one . . . oooh maybe I should give him that as a hint for Mother's Day!

You all are some prolific posters. There's no way I'll be able to keep up with this whole thread.
My name is Angie, and I'm from Northeast Arkansas, though right now I'm going to school in Southeast Missouri. I'm 20, and a junior in college. This is my first year to actually live at school (I went to Community College for 2 years first) and I'm really proud of myself that I've avoided the "freshman 15" and actually lost about 5 lbs. over the last semester.
I'm really excited about this Biggest Loser challenge. I've weighed around 180 since I was about 15 and I've never really got serious about losing weight. I plan on things being different this time around, and plan on losing at least 20-25 lbs. this summer (though, if I lose 30 I can beat last years winner, so I've kind of got my eye set on that).
This week I haven't been doing so well. It is a nightmare to try and find healthy food to eat here at school (and it doesn't help that I'm allergic to most raw fruit) and being the week before finals I've been having to practice in every spare minute. Oh, the joys of being a music major! Next week, though, I'm going to have a lot of free time, so I'm planning on going to the rec center and working out for about an hour a day. I like to work on the treadmill and what I usually do is walk 5 min. and then run 5 min. for about 55 minutes or so. Sometimes I'll spend half my time on the elliptical machine and half on the treadmill.

Here at work we've been getting TopHealth newletters, paid for by our company. Today we were informed that instead of TopHealth, we're now getting the TopDollar newsletter. I'm kind of annoyed about that. This TopDollar newsletter seems geared more for investments, not folks who live month-to-month as we usually do. We can opt out, which I did, but I think it's a lousy replacement. Everyone has health, good or bad, not a lot of us peons have extra money to invest right now. Besides, and electronic newsletter would save paper and some trees.

I finally woke up this morning to do my exercise to keep up with the challenge Nothing like exercising and watching a serial killer show at 6:30 AM in the morning. Anyone watched the show Dexter? I'd heard about the show and since I missed it when they aired it on showtime I decided to watch episode 1 of the show on netflix...love their play now feature Anyway, it was an interesting show. I don't know if I like it yet but I'll watch other episodes to see if the story picks up. In case, I haven't mentioned before...I love crime shows - CSI, Law & Order (all) etc...am I a nut case maybe

Umm....I really don't know the answer to this question. Never really thought about it. Maybe I'm weird I don't know. I could be stay at home but I know I won't like it for more than few weeks. It would drive me crazy. Maybe a detective...hmm...or a FBI agent/profiler or a criminal judge or even a prosecuter. I would love to catch nasty criminals and put them in jail for good. I do know that I would want a position that pays lots of money and no a** kissing involved but only hard work

Ack! I have a crisis!

My hubby gave me $60 to buy some groceries (and of course I'll be adding $60 to it). I need to make a grocery list for a big meat eater hubby and an on a diet wife without going over $120.

Some required items he HAS to have are:

Soda
Something sweet

Other than that its up to me. Usually I have a lot more to work with and I end up buying all diet stuff which he hates.

Chellez, whole foods.....very few processed foods. Processed foods are expensive for what you get. Lots of beans and legumes...they're cheap and good fer ya! Frozen veggies are great because they have all of the vitamins and don't go bad. And, you can steam them in the microwave. You can make a ton of stuff with 97% lean ground beef. Do you have a crockpot? Love it! And, buy the store brands. They have come a long way with store brands in the last few years and most of them are they exact same foods as in the brand name labeled containers. Crazy, huh? Do cleaning products get included in that $? I've been researchng how to make my own for little money. Anna, Dee, Nori and Zinke have some great ideas for these products. I've just recently started on this "budget" thing, so I've got lots of knowledge floating around in this head of mine. If you want more recommendations, I have a ton! (BTW, looks like my electric bill will be about $75-$100 less this time.

I don't do the cooking around here, but I do the shopping. I don't trust my Hubby with a budget. He wants everything.

Speaking of which....I've actually started doing a little cooking. We're getting to the end of our two week grocery shopping run and the pickings are slim. So, I threw some chicken breast pieces, chicken broth, coconut milk, curry, water chestnuts, carrots, celery and onion into the crockpot. I dunno... Might be good....might be horrible. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Nope, I was a library clerk with no library education just lots of voluteer work and a college marketing course. I didn't want to leave that job, but I had to because I was pregnant with twins and could barely stand up due to the pain in my hips.
