  • Thursday mid morning!
    G'mornin!

EZ...yeah, I'm 49.5 and the two matching side-by-side zits amazed me. They are both leaving the scene today. Whew! I practically needed mudding compound to even out the skin. The pics of CA are wonderful and your daughter is quite nice looking from what I could see. And...you list was a hoot.

Wilma...I must say, A Credit Union is the way to go. I belonged to mine since 1992 and they worked with me through some rough times last year. I KNOW you will do a great job. I'm always amazed with the tellers because I am so bookkeeping challenged.

Sunny...Is your snow just about gone. We actually had lightening and thunder last night. I slept like a baby.

I told DH that I would keep my mouth shut and not tattle on him today at the doc's office. I just want to be there to see the foot itself and to hear what he will be needing to do in the future with the injury. I will have to put bondo glue on my mouth or duct tape, extra strength.

I decided to ignore DH on the couch tonight (foot elevated) so I don't feel obligated to sit and watch TV as well. I MUST get things done in the house that are not getting done due to me just sitting with him. Yikes!

    Sprout...I'm needing a devotion.

    Michele...Thanks for your encouragement.

Teel...Feeling better. So sorry about the church thing because that is so important to be comfortable in church.

doitforme...thanks for your words regarding my frequent postings.

Hey, suddenly, I feel a little better...not so down.

  • Gary, I love your ABC's! and yes, you do need help...
  • G's doc appt went wonderful. There's normal swelling and the stitches are out and we got to see x-rays of the plate and 10 wood screws in his heel. He can go to work as long as he DOES NOT put ANY weight on it.

Amen! Givin the Glory to God!

    Isaiah 55:12
For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Our God is a God with a plan for His creation. Everything was created for a reason. God created us in His image, and His plan for us is to live a full, joyful, creative existence. We can best do this by keeping ourselves fit and trim and healthy. God rejoices, as does all His creation, when we live up to the potential He created in each one of us. When we succeed in our dieting attempts, we take a step toward fulfilling our purpose in life, and we go forth in joy and peace which passes any earthly joy or peace. Praise the Lord.
Today's thought: Thank you, Lord, for bringing me this far!

    Wise Behavior

    Read:
    1 Samuel 18:1-5

David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. . . . And he was accepted in the sight of all the people. —1 Samuel 18:5

Bible In One Year: 1 Samuel 17-20

Four times in 1 Samuel 18, the writer tells us that David "behaved wisely" (vv.5,14,15,30). In fact, he behaved "more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name became highly esteemed" (v.30).

The phrase "highly esteemed" suggests an unusual respect. David was honored by all the people, but more significantly he was highly respected by those in Saul's court who were impressed by his noble character.

As Christians come to know Jesus through obedience to His Word, they will begin to display qualities of character that set them apart from others, for true wisdom is to live like Christ. It is more than common sense; it is uncommon behavior.

James said, "The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy" (3:17). This gracious way of making our way through the world can come only "from above."

David's experience can be our experience. God's promise to him is also true for believers today. He said, "I will instruct you [cause you to be wise] and teach you in the way you should go" (Psalm 32:8).

Are we learning to behave wisely? —David Roper

Be like Jesus, this my song,
    In the home and in the throng;
Be like Jesus, all day long!
I would be like Jesus. —Rowe

Our character is only as strong as our behavior.

  • ( I can dream... can't I )

Whew... ... looks like this was a busy thread today... I had allot to get done today for Joe (before his practice tonight) so I didn't have time during the day to stop in and post... but I do now Joe will be at practice tonight till at least 9:30.

    *~*~*

MKay, I enjoyed reading your ABC's... you have allot of similarities to Michele I see... devilish... cute You're not alone... I do that someday's too - where I stop in and check the computer several times a day. Especially if I have a quiet day.

Yup... our snow is all gone here now

I am so happy to hear that your Gary's heal is doing so much better... boy, he really did a number on himself, didn't he! I am happy to hear that you are feeling better too

Gary, Your ABC's were a kick! You are always very different --- me... I just went through the alphabet, but not you very entertaining

I enjoyed all the pictures of the tennis courts and your DD, not to mention the beautiful coastline! What a beautiful area you live in... why did you want to move again!? Joe and I have been enjoying the beautiful 68* temps we had here again today till around 4ish; then it got real cloudy and the temps just dropped into the low 50's.

Yes, we had a really nice Easter... I really wanted Joe to have a day he could totally kick-back and rest and that he did. He said he felt great come Monday when he had to go back to work. You asked if I take good care of Joe some time back... and my answer is... (drum roll) of coarse I do, silly. We take care of one another... each in our own way. I think that's why we have lasted almost 30 years together

Thanks for the encouragement! I have been trying to get back into my walking again like I was before I got sick... and I am almost there. I have been getting in 7 miles each week ,but I want to kick it up a notch next week by adding a mile or two to my weeks total and try to get in two day a week of toning with wts. I also use my elliptical once in awhile, just to change it up.

Joe is so happy with his new van - take a look-see yourself:

Hi Wilma, Nope... the van that Joe just got was bought by his company - it's a large work van. not a personal vehicle. Those Windstar are nice! We do have green grass finally coming through Finally! And my daffodils are up a good 5 - 6" too... great to see.

Thanks Sue...whew... I was gettin' tired Our weather folks are calling for flurries this Saturday - they were wrong about today and so I hope that they are wrong again about Saturday. Today it went up to 68* and was absolutely beautiful - it didn't cloud up till around 4pm. Now we are getting wind gusts of about 45mph.

No worries about your kids... they will do great! I didn't see your ABC's did you post them? I'll have to go back and check again.

YUMMMMMMmMMMmMMM... Homemade Split Pea Soup... did you have a great day home today? Enjoy the sunshine

Sprout, THANKS!!!! I have missed your Devotions --- it's so good to see them again

  • Dieters devotional for April 1, 2005
    April 1

    James 1:4
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were a magic wand that we could wave, and suddenly the pounds would melt from our flesh and we would be the perfect weight? I know of no one who would choose the rigors and demands of a diet over a magic wand. Unfortunately, there are no magic wands, and the only way we can lose weight is to set ourselves to the task-body, mind, and spirit. We need to ask God's help, that we might remain committed to the task no matter how long it takes. When we call on the Lord, He will grant us the patience we so badly need.
Today's thought: The longer the wait, the less the weight!

    Broken Things

    Read:
    Psalm 31:9-24

I am like a broken vessel. —Psalm 31:12

Bible In One Year: 1 Samuel 21-24

Few unbroken lives in this world are useful to God. Few men and women can fulfill their hopes and plans without some interruption and disappointment along the way.

But man's disappointments are often God's appointments, and the things we believe are tragedies may be the very opportunities through which God chooses to exhibit His love and grace. We have but to follow these lives to the end to see that people who have been broken become better and more effective Christians than if they had carried out all their own plans and purposes.

Are you, my friend, being broken today? Has the dearest thing in your life been torn away? Then remember that if you could see the purpose of it all from God's standpoint, you would praise the Lord.

The best things that come to us are not those that accrue from having our way, but by letting God have His way. Though the way of testing and trial and sorrow often seems hard and cruel, it is the way of God's love and in the end will be the best for us.

Remember, we have the Lord's promise: "No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly" (Psalm 84:11). —M. R. De Haan, M.D.

    Then trust in God through all thy days;
    Fear not, for He doth hold thy hand;
Though dark thy way, still sing and praise,
    Sometime, sometime, we'll understand. —Cornelius

For a Christian, wholeness always comes after brokenness.
  • Hi!
I have a really big prayer request. My pastor who has a long history of melanoma, was told He would have six month to live about 3 yrs ago. then was through the grace of God saved from that, recieved his cat scan results and they have found a spot on his liver. They are not positive yet that it is melanoma again, but probability is high. He is going for more tests the beginning of the week. His name is Pastor Robert Herrmann, He is I believe 46 years old, he has 4 kids. They is a chance that the spot is just a shadow or something. Please pray that tests in begining of week find him healthy. Thanks!

  • Sue, love your abc's...

Sunny~nice pics of Joe and his new van. Happy Camper!

It has been quiet, although it had nothing to do with April Fools day for me. We tried to play a trick on one of my coworkers. She just vacationed in FL last week and got a tattoo on her hiney and she also signed to allow her 17 yo son to get a tattoo (no judgments, just fact) so i left her a message that the FL Dept. of Health called and wanted to talk to her about giving permission for her son... So she emails me and first i have to tell you that fridays are casual here and i had on a light pink/flamingo pink striped t-shirt and so this was her email:Michele - the FLA Dept of Health called while you were at lunch. Apparently there is some concern that the dye used to make your sweater was from the illegal slaughtering of flamingos. They would appreciate it if you would forward your sweater to them for further investigation.

Going to visit some family friends after work today. I woke up w/ a headache so i'm trying to get rid of it. And after visiting i have some things to do at the house. Eric and I may get together sometime tomorrow, we're going to decide tonight. He has golf lessons today and maybe tomorrow. And then I have my last Alpha on Sunday until the Fall. I also plan to get to church. Gotta do it. I'm thirsty for the Lord.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

    Hebrews 10:36
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

It seemed like forever before any weight came off. Gerri had cut way back on her food intake and exercised daily. It had been frustrating to step up on the scales day after day to find no real change. She stuck with the diet despite her despair, and now four weeks into the program it was paying off. People were beginning to no-tice the difference in her. What had seemed so painfully slow, one pound every few days, had finally added up, and she was thrilled. Waiting a little while had paid off, waiting a little more didn't seem nearly as hard.
Today's thought: I can take this diet one day at a time!
