  • Hello Everyone!

It's a cold day here in the Washington, DC area. Can you believe we had 85 degree weather her last week! What's going ON!

    Anyway, my stats for today:

    Original 1300

    4/8/03
    805 - 67 = 738 remaining

    Those minutes are coming down!

You all have a great day!
  • 10 minutes of abwork, and an hour bellydance class. (I only count the class as 50 minutes usually-because sometimes we have to stop a few minutes to watch a new move executed-or learn a piece or choreography)
1200 minutes original goal for April
    970-60=910 minutes left

  • April 8 - 40 min. elliptical

    640 - 40 = 600

Tomorrow I get my body fat measured at the gym. I wish I had done this in Sept when I started working out but it will be interesting to watch changes over the next few months.
  • This is neat!
    This is a neat site.
    Hi All
Since I am starting out on the 9th of April, I will set my goal for 1260. That should be for an hour each day.
    20 minutes on the treadmill
    10 minutes weights
    30 minutes aerobics video.
I wish I would have checked this site out at the beginning of my program.
This is just the support I need along with LA weightloss forum.
    My name is Sharon
    I live in Tennessee
    I have alot to lose
    298/294 3/4/140
    1260-0-1260
I am going to go and exercise so I can add to this total.
    Thanks whoever started this.
    Sharon
  • Good morning to all!

....and welcome Sharon! I do know what you mean about needing a site like this. I am very aware of my minutes when exercising now.

Best of luck on you challenge!

    Stats:
    Original goal: 1300
    Today 4/9/03:
    738 - 65 = 673

    Have a healthy day today!
  • Good Morning, it's freezing here in Missouri! Was so nice just a few days ago and 37 degrees and getting colder! Ugh, what happen to SPRING!

Welcome Sharon, We've had this thread going since October or November and glad that you are using it as a motivational tool.

740 - 70 = 670 Felt really pumped last night for some strange reason, so I decided to take advantage of it!
  • I've stumbled and fallen down. Been feeling so yucky that I haven't done any exercise in days. My total's still at 100 of my 600 minute goal.

Guess I've got some catching up to do now that I'm feeling a little better....

P.S. Hey Semo! I'd be glad to make it to 37 here! Send some of that heat my way!!
  • Hey Jello,
Forget about yesterday and look forward.
We all fall , so now get up and give it your all.
Do you have an exercise journal?
Make one up and keep reasons why you are doing this.
When you want to give up, remember why you are doing this.
    Sharon
  • 30 minutes of Pilates today...
    1200 original goal for April
    910-30=880 minutes left
I think that it is totally important that when a moment of weakness strikes-whether you are frustrated with life, or you ate a cookie you shouldn't have, or you don't feel like exercising today-that you think of all the reasons that you owe it to yourself to keep on...and not throw in the towel. I draw strength from positive things, as well as some negative. I focus on the positive in that I love the "high" I feel after a workout-I know to feel that good, that I have to get up and start, which is the hardest part...I love that I lose all inhibitions when I bellydance-and that it is truly wonderful for my mind and my body...
As far as the negatives...when I have caved or slipped up for some reason, overeaten at a meal...slipped off the wagon for a few days...I gain strength from all of the negatives in my life associated with being overweight and out of shape...how terrible I feel after a big eating binge, about my aunt's untimely death in her early forties due to her weight and overeating habits...and about every cruel comment I have ever endured. I do not let these things defeat me, but empower me to get up and get going again...I am worth it.

  • Thanks Aphil, I really needed your post. I think that I'm starting to get bored with my tapes, but I have made a commitment to myself to stick with it for 90 days and I'm on day 66. Can't wait to get to day 90 then I'm finding something else to do. I'm getting results but when you know the words by heart, it's not fun anymore.

    Okay, for Wednesday, April 9th

    670 - 55 = 615
  • I am just so excited about this forum.
I am on day 2 and I worked out 60 minutes yesterday and today.
My goal for the month is 1260-120 for the yesterday and today.
    1140 minutes left.
I can do it. I have been motivated today to check out my workout tapes (I have alot of them) and pick out my favorites.
I also am going to walk on my treadmill which I cleaned of yesterday.

    1260-120=1140
    298-294 3/4-140
    I CAN DO IT
    Good luck to all
  • Good day to all!

I'm rushing off to another meeting, but I wanted to at least post my workout.

    Original: 1300
    4/10/03
    673 - 70 = 603

Everyone, keep up the good work!
  • 45 minutes of bellydancing (my cardio)
    1200 original goal for April
    880-45=835 left for the month
SEMO-I often reward myself for every 5 or 10 pounds lost...and it is usually fitness related, some of my rewards have been new exercise tapes, new workout clothes such as sports bras, a yoga mat...if you are getting bored with your workouts-set a mini-goal for yourself and when you reach it-get a new video, or sign up for a yoga class...something to break out of the rut...I often go to thrift stores and rummages and pick up used vids if they have them-or on Ebay or Half.com pretty cheap. Some that I have that are fun to break up the monotony are:
Denise Austin Kickin' with Country-this is from the early 90's when the line dancing was big-it is a nice change from the same old thing.
Anything Richard Simmons if you like to dance and have a good time...
At Collage video online, they have hula dance workouts, african dance workouts, workouts with those big balls they sell at sporting goods stores and Target...I bought a bellydance video over a year ago, and fell in love with it so much, that now I take professional classes...and love every minute of it.
Maybe trying a new type of workout-if you normally do only floor aerobics, try step aerobics-or if you are a yoga person, try Pilates, etc.
You can even contact a local YMCA and see about water aerobic classes, yoga classes, or swim in their indoor pool once a week...or even get together with a friend or two and "walk the mall" together. In the spring and summer, I try to take my kids to the zoo a couple of times-they are in a wagon or stroller, and I end up walking 2-3 miles that day, while spending time with them at the same time. Now and then we just have to have a change of scenery to keep things interesting.
    Have a great day everyone!
    Aphil
  • Wed, Apr 9 - 10 min warmup recumbent bike; 40 min lower body weights

    Thurs, Apr 10 - 30 min 2mi-WATP; 60 min Pilates

    600 - 140 = 460

Welcome Sharon. Sounds like you're off to a great start.
  • Hey Sharon! Thanks! I may falter but I'll NEVER give up.

Having said that, I'm back! Spent 40 minutes on my treadmill yesterday and did over 2 miles. Had the Evita soundtrack playing on my headphones this time. I used to watch TV while on the treadmill but find that it seems easier when I just lose myself in the music instead. I'm tickled to have found this new "trick".

My total so far: 100 from before plus 10 the other morning plus my 40.... That makes 150 down and 450 to go!!

Aphil, great post! I'm like Semo and get bored doing the same thing over and over. It's great that there are so many other options, especially some of those you mentioned that I never would have thought of! Hm, time to get my exercise ball pumped up again....
