  • Great job Amanda!! Hey, you know the PR I set for myself on a 5k last weekend was 35:57, so you are way faster than me!
  • Quote: Hey Skinny Pants, going to change your user name? I refer to you in my head lately as 'FFP'....
Haha, maybe I should! Hmm, will have to think about a good name...

I did 9 miles yesterday and overall it went pretty well. The last mile and a half were a struggle. Only 5 weeks until my half marathon...ack!
  • Thanks for all of the running kudos! I was pretty impressed with myself.

On Friday, I did 70 min on the incline trainer, then 65 min of strength training.

On Saturday, I did 70 min on the incline trainer and 35 min of yoga

Yesterday, I just did some light yoga - about 20 minutes

Today, the plan is 80 min mega-run...5 min warmup, 30 min sprint intervals of 2 min at 4mph, 1 min at 9mph, 40 min steady state run between 5.5-6.5 mph, 5 min cooldown.
  • Saturday~30 minutes on elliptical
    Monday~30 minutes on elliptical
  • Amanda, add me to the list of those impressed with your time. My 5K PR was 29:14 or somesuch. I was so glad to break 30 minutes. It was a feat that has not since been repeated! I usually range 33-35 minutes for a 5K.
  • Midwife, can I tell you how much of a relief it is to hear that you are a slow runner too? I always think of you as a super-runner!

    Friday:
    30 min dog walk

    Saturday:
30 min walk, 2 hour hike, 3 mile walk

    Sunday:
    none

    Monday:
ran 2.6 miles this morning in 29 minutes (woohoo!), planning a dog walk tonight
  • Include me in the group of slow runners!!! Some of the days when you describe your HIIT workouts I think to myself there's no way I could do that!
  • Hmmm, thinking back, I think my PB for a 5K was around 32 minutes - you're so not alone Jessica!

Just back from the gym where I did one of my program's self-described "oxygen sucking" weights workout. It's only 3 sets of 5 exercises, but (a) they're hard exercises, and (b) there's only a 10 second interval between the ones in each set, then a 3 minute rest, and do it all again. Looks so easy on paper. So that plus a 10 minute warm-up took about an hour. Then I had to wait until everything congealed enough that I could change and come home.... Hot showers are wonderful.
  • Quote: April 2: 45 minutes elliptical

I'm behind on the thread as I was on a cruise.

I did manage to exercise though (most days). Unfortunately I hurt my foot on the first day of the cruise so I've been somewhat limited. Hoping that I'm on the road to recovery now.....

April 5: 10 min treadmill, 33 min elliptical (think I hurt my foot on the treadmill but not sure) Total: 43 minutes

April 6: Snorkeled about 30 minutes (water was FREEZING so we couldn't stay in any longer)

April 7: Kayaked about 60 minutes. Also went to the gym on the boat: 30 minute elliptical and 15 minutes weight machines. Total: 105 minutes

    April 8: 43 minutes elliptical

April 9: 45 minutes elliptical (back home today)

April 10: 47 minutes elliptical, 13 min. weights and sit ups (total 60 min)

  • Monday night, dog walk

    Tuesday:
    5 min warmup walk
3x10 squats, no weight, alternating with
3x10 push-ups, one set on the bench, 2 sets on knees
3x10 lunges, no weight, alternating with
    3x10 single-arm rows, 20# dumbbell
    3xplanks, 40 seconds each
    5 min stretching

I think I screwed up some muscle in my back either with the push-ups or the rows. Sigh.
  • Wed: 4 mile run at lunch, conditioning class tonight for 1 hr.
  • Ah, Wednesday, my more intense day. 1 hour of zumba, a 15 min break and then about 45 minutes of UB work. I'm whipped....
  • Wednesday: 1.35 mile jog with the dog.

Rest today and tomorrow to prep for Saturday's race. Depending on if I kick this cold by then or not I may not have a very fast time. Oh well.
