Just finished The Time Traveler's Wife and have to say, that the ending tarnished the whole book for me. I probably got too emotionally involved. The writing was good, but I couldn't help but be mad at Clare at the end.

I just assembled a new bookcase, twice the size of my old one, and gathered all the books I had stashed around the house to put in it. Well, it wasn't big enough! Lol! But, I did find a stash of books that I bought and hadn't read, so I'll be reading The Other Boleyn Girl next.

I just finished reading "The Time Traveler's Wife" and loved it!!! I have heard about it for awhile, but it sounded like it was all science fiction to me, so I put off reading it until I saw the commercials for the movie. However, now that I have read it and liked it so much, I might hold off on seeing the movie until it's out in rental or something. LOL

I think I am going to move onto "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Piccoult next.

I picked up my copy to re-read as soon as I got out of the movie. Why were you mad at Clare - for waiting?

I loved that book just as much as I always do - for my birthday one year, my boyfriend got me a signed, limited edition copy.

I haven't read much new lately - with the mom visit and the TTW re-read. Since my last post, I've read:

* Red Carpet Suicide - now I love celebrity gossip, to a possibly unhealthy degree but this book was mean spirited and even worse - boring!

* Forgotten Garden - easily figured out, but it was okay.

* What Was I Thinking? - other people's painful relationship stories are so interesting.

In a fit of masochism, I checked the new Anita Blake book out of the library. I'm on page 2, and I'm amazed there hasn't been any sex yet - she is SLACKING. I keep telling myself this book has Edward and I love Edward. I'm sure I will read it just to make mental snarky comments and then give it a 1 star personal review. Sometimes, I like reading books I don't like - I have no idea why!

It's non-fiction and it's about women that disguised themselves as men and fought in the civil war. Interesting bedtime read.

I just finished reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S Thompson.
Pretty much identical to the movie.

just started Tad Williams' Shadowmarch - started off a little slow but is getting much better.

I really enjoyed Brigid's Charge.

Has anyone read The Host? How similar is it to the Twilight series? Better, Worse, about the same?

I found I was annoyed at the ending too... and not so much because she waited but because you got the sense she didn't do much of anything else... as though all the rest of the time she had was pointless (and not worth mentioning... as the book skips over it) because he wasn't there.

But then I also felt a little cheated by the powerlessness of their situation. I wanted them to overcome their fates...

But that was just my reaction to it.

I liked the rest of the book and I thought it was beautifully written.

I'm currently reading The Space Between Us by Thrity Umrigar. I'm enjoying it so far.

I only read the first Twilight book and I hated it. I read the Host and I loved hating it. It is a fabulous premise but I feel she just wasted it. I loathed/despised the main character who gets the most ridiculous "mary sue" ending I've ever read (and I've read all the Anita Blake books!). And the author's "no sex before marriage" thing really gets old (for me). That being said, I'll probably still read the sequel (I think she's working on one).

Finished Dead Weight last night and tonight start Good Omens

I meant to add: I loved The Space Between Us! One of my top 10 from last year.

I'm in a bit of book ADD mode. I keep picking books up, flipping, putting them down. I'm almost through with Addition which has been a really fascinating look into OCD. I keep trying to read Crazy for the Storm but I get so bored with all the flashback stuff.
