  • Quote: There are eight out right now and the ninth is scheduled for release in May 2009. Some are better than others, but I'm still enjoying them.
Ahh thanks. Do you watch the show? Does it follow the books??

And I'm reading Marked by PC Cast & Kristin Cast. Its soooooooooooooooo good, lol.

I watched around 1/2 of the first season of the show. The plot appears to have followed the first book, but there were some differences (as there always will be with the change of medium). For example, in the books, Tara has a much smaller and far different role. The show seemed a bit darker than the books. If I'd had HBO I'm sure I'd have watched every episode. I do like that the show brought awareness of Ms. Harris' books to a huge new audience. And I highly recommend the Harper Connelly series that starts with Grave Sight. Harper is a darker character than Sookie and the books are a bit on the darker side.
  • I finished The Risen Empire and started the second book, The Killing of Worlds by Scott Westerfeld. This is very good space opera with interesting political maneuvering, space battles and imaginative technologies. One word of warning, you'll want to have the second book close at hand when you finish the 1st since they were written as one book but publishers forced the author to split it into two.

Also, on my commute, I listen to books on CD. I'm currently listening to The Curse of the Pharaohs, the second Amelia Peabody mystery by Elizabeth Peters. It's a fun mystery that takes place on an archeological dig in Egypt during the late 19th century.
  • I finally finished The Other Queen (what a chore that was) and started and finished a book of short stories by David Guterson called The Country Ahead of us, The Country Behind. It was good, but not necessarily the best thing of his that I've read. I just started Hurry Down Sunshine which appears to be a quick read. I started it last night and am almost half-way through. It's good, but so far not as heart-wrenching as I thought it would be.
  • Finishing An Irish Country Christmas tonight. Haven't yet decided what to start '09 with. HNY!
