  • Quote: I'm reading The Mislaid Magician or Ten Years After: Being the Private Correspondence Between Two Prominent Families Regarding a Scandal Touching the Highest Levels of Government and the Security of the Realm by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer. This is the 3rd about these characters which began with Sorcery and Cecelia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot. The story is told in a series of letters between the two main characters with each author providing the voice for each character. The first book started as a writing game that the authors recognized was a book after several months went by.
Never heard of that one but it sounds like fun!
  • I'm reading..The Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling
  • Quote: The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. It was made into a movie with Queen Latifah and Dakota Fanning. I'm lovin' the book, I haven't seen the movie.
Omg..that is a wonderful book!! I wanna see the movie.
  • I loved The Secret Life of Bees, too! I wish that some of the teen girls I work with had the opportunity to have another home and another chance that the teen girl in the book had.
    Sheri
  • Done with Dashing Through the Snow, starting Santa Clawed
  • I have been doing poorly with my reading lately. Not done much of any since Thanksgiving...maybe what I need is a great Holiday book...have a bag full. And I agree...Secret Life of Bees is a GREAT book! I loved it! Haven't seen the movie yet but I do plan too.
  • I just finished Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty, and started Second Helpings (second in the series).

It's about a girl in high school and it's like her diary and letters to her friend that moved away, and how she doesn't feel like she belongs. I liked the first and am currently reading the second (trying, my dog kinda chewed it a bit today).
  • I finished The Mislaid Magician, whipped through The Tales of Beedle, the Bard (both of which I very much enjoyed) and have started The Risen Empire by Scott Westerfeld. The Risen Empire is engaging so far. It's about a distant human civilization in which immortality has been achieved, but is only available to those the emperor chooses to share it with. I'm not sure where it's going and the story is written as two separate books, but the characters and premise are intriguing.

aNOther, I highly recommend the Wrede and Stevemor books. They are very good, and I've very much enjoyed them at 30+ and shared them with success with some of my cousins' teenage daughters who loved them as well.
  • I finished the latest Sookie Stackhouse book (From Dead to Worse) and I thought it was much better than the last book in the series.

Now, I'm trying to get into An Absolute Scandal but it's starting kind of slow with a seemingly endless roster of characters.
  • I'm now reading...Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris.
  • Quote: Okay wow..I wish I hadnt seen that. I'm only on the 2nd book.
I am so sorry! I went back and deleted mine, but you quoted it. Can you delete yours too?
  • It's okay..but ya, I'll delete it.
  • Going to start The Secret Life of Bees today!
  • How many Sookie Stackhouse books are there?
  • Quote: How many Sookie Stackhouse books are there?
There are eight out right now and the ninth is scheduled for release in May 2009. Some are better than others, but I'm still enjoying them.
