Jelly, I'm sorry to hear about your so-called friend. It's hurtful when someone who was once a really close friend does things like that. It'd be easier for them to say, well, we live different lives now, we're not as close... and end things. But they hold on and then leave you hanging on as well. I want to resolve things with my friend once and for all.. but I'm thinking it will take some mean-ness to finally get through to her. And it shouldn't have to be that way... I wonder if the husband and kid thing is a recurrent theme.. maybe my friend feels like I don't have much time for her now that I have a boyfriend who is more like a husband and a child... I started thinking that after reading your point of view.

I'm pretty good at sensing people's true selves too, but it's not instantaneous. I consider it good intuition but I can't write someone off just based to initial impressions. You might meet a chick who seems flaky or off but stick with it... after awhile you'll know for sure if she's for real or if she's just another fake person in the world.

Jelly, I wish I could cut out diet soda too. Today I'm drinking water because I made the choice to not let BF get me another big 3 liter when he went to the store, but I've got a caffeine headache (I think) and I know before the weekend is up, I'll drink some. I think the jury is still out on how horrible diet sodas are for weight loss but since I hear about it so much, I've been trying to cut it out. I do know aspartame is not something I want to drink... but I am definitely a repeat offender. Good luck to me and you!

Also, if you ever want to talk I'm always here, although that may sound corny. Don't feel like you don't have friends.. you do here. It's a nice escape from the world.

Hey Mel... what about finding a group of mothers with babys... you'd have things in common! you could go on "play dates"... it truly helps a single child to develop better! Perhaps some of the other "mommy's" know of some?

There is a website called Meetup.com....that is where I found my Mommy and Me group. It's a very family oriented group that very much encourages the Daddies to get involved as well.

Good idea, guys. I went to the site and there are 2 groups 30 minutes away in the next county from me, but they're private. I'm going to try to find out more info or maybe I could start my own for my particular county.

Mel, it's funny but I get headaches with or without diet soda, and more so with or without any junkfood, so really I think my problem is home and stress and depression.

And it is good to have intuition. I just remember all the times she tried to get me to go with her and her drunk druggie friends and how easy it was to just say no. My mom never liked her all that much because she always screwed up in life and didn't seem much interested in me as a friend. BTW, I chose not to be with people that drink alot and/or do drugs. Some may call me judgemental but everyone else in my family hung out with people like that and it only got them into trouble and druggie alcoholics themselves. So they are a bad influence to me and I don't take no crap, lol.

On another note, I'm freakin hungry and I have no peanuts left, LOL. I had a bowl of broccoli and a yogurt about 4 hours ago..

I know your pain. A few years back I watched the vet put my dog down. He had a tumor on the roof of his mouth. Poor guy was in so much pain. He was bleeding from his nose all the time, all over the place. It was heart breaking. It's very hard to watch someone you love pass on.
I'm sure he's happier now and you did the right thing for him.

You should be able to send an application to be admitted. The group I belong to is private as well....it protects the privacy of our children

Jelly, sounds like she wasn't really a good friend afterall... a good friend wouldn't have pressured you to do things like that. My friend in question, she drinks but she does have the respect to not pressure me into doing it although I did get an open container ticket while with her and it was the last time I touched a beer. And it was also one of the few (meaning three) times I've even had a beer since my child was born. And she was the idiot who let her unlicensed boyfriend drive because she was drunk, and while I was not drunk, I was the idiot who rode with them knowing her boyfriend was unlicensed, and had an open bottle of beer just like she did... and that's not my thing anymore. My thing is being a mother. I know she's still young and doing her thing but she needs to grow up eventually... I sound judgmental but I see things differently nowadays. Oh and stress will definitely give you headaches.

Snacks? I will eat a piece of swiss cheese or something in lieu of peanuts. That's what I do when I run out of snacks.. I snack on cheese.

Zeffryn, I joined the website, if I join the group do I have to attend every meeting? Or are the details different for each group?

I'm kinda excited, at the same time, nervous, what if they're cliquey?! Does this happen sometimes with these groups? It's really cool that it's in the next county over, everyone in my county has to go there to get to Walmart and insurance companies and doctors and everything else. So it's not out of my way or anything. Awesome!

Hey Jelly, I know you said your mother didn't want to spend extra for your "slow" weight loss... What if you offered to cook a meal a week for you...l like a taco bake? That she could enjoy! Would she buy the ingredients for that?

You and the taco bake, Lori... I sometimes think that's all you eat! Amber is a lovely name for an orange marmalade kitteh... I still like Honey, maybe you could look and see if there was something in another language that was pretty? Like Italian, it's Miele.

As for the diet soda drinkers, diet soda isn't that great for you- try and develop a taste for the water- it will save so much money, and your body will not be as confused.

Well Friday night's she gets takeout, and she is only home on Sat and Sun, but she is on a budget so I've been telling her not to buy junkfood anymore cause really, it all gets wasted every week - last time I threw out 3 loaves of bread, and other junk.. she wastes more food than god. She "Thinks" we'll eat it but we don't. So really when she buys food that I "Will" eat she shouldn't complain cause it don't go to waste.

User! LOL, at one point I think it's all I WAS eating! I'm proud to say it's been two, or one week? Two! I'll have you know I just pulled and am eating chicken with spinach on side!

Jelly, When I say this I am saying it cause I care. You made a comment yesterday "good support group, yeah right!" I wanted to address that comment. We have been trying to support you when you bring situations up, but EVERY suggestion we've made, or when we try to cheer you up, you have excuse after excuse why you CANT or WONT do something, and when someone asks something in jest, you burn back! Hun, it really is hard to read your posts because they are so depressing!

I'm sorry that I'm being depressing, it's just when you guys give advice you don't know where I'm coming from. You have never walked in my shoes. I have strict parents that control me, even at my age, and I have no say in it. My parents aren't rich, they are in fact living paycheck to paycheck and can't even afford to pay their bills - they are in debt. All I want is to be happy and build self confidence and losing weight is the key. So I may not be able to eat what I should be eating on this diet, but the fact is I'm eating healthy food, that's all that matters to me. So I drink diet soda, I don't drink water much unless it's flavored, then I don't have a problem. I don't have excuses, I just want an easy life because I've had it hard since I was born and don't want to get into anything that will bring me more obsticles than I already have.
