Allison, my take is that High School Reunions are solo affairs. They're for reviving some very old feelings - good and bad; can't believe that a spouse would want to be there.

I'd vote for "1) go alone" if you were taking a poll.

Allison I'm with Bill on the reunion . Go alone. You can "remember when . . ." all you like, relive old relationships, etc. without worrying that DH will be bored out of his mind.

The only reunion I've ever attended was organized thru Fb and took place at a very old fashioned bar (ladies and escorts entrance, shuffleboard, etc.) where we all used to drink as teenagers. I had a good time (considering I don't drink and was totally unpopular in high school) and found out that there were at least 4 guys back then who had crushes on me. I hugged and kissed 'em all (two are happily married with adult kids now). DH would have felt very threatened and there would have been sulking for days. This way I had some harmless fun and no one was hurt.

I am determined to stay OP this weekend and am cooking dinner both nights to stay within my calorie limits. I'm sure i will be below my red line weight on Monday's weigh-in (first time this year). I can't remember the last time I was OP for 7 days straight (think it was in 2008).

Sorry about all the dieting : stuff in a maintenance thread but I think I still belong here. Just picking myself up and carrying on, tweaking the maintenance rather than starting totally anew someplace else.

Great weekend all!

Dagmar

Mmm, low boil. I didn't know about this until I moved to North Florida. So delish! Some friends own a catering company and occasionally ask for help, which I don't mind doing at all! Theirs consists of shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, in boils seasonings. Bread on the side, yum.

Alison, I guess I'd try #5. But what do you really want to get out of this event. You said you planned to get a room and have a party yourself, and are dismayed they won't serve alcohol. It sounds like you really want to spend time w/ DH, so why don't you just get a weekend at a B&B w him, where you can drink? If you really want to go to the reunion, then I'd go alone, or again, try #5. I would guess the reason they've limited attendance may really have to do with financial reasons.

Dagmar, you'd be so proud of me! I heard Emma stirring around 5:45, I just kept my face away from the side of the bed and ignored her, and she didn't make a fuss. She was quiet until 6:30, which is her normal wake-up time on weekdays. I will keep an eye on her but I will see if you're right, and this is just a game of "how much attention can I get and when will mom play with me" (I rather suspected). If the problem persists I will definitely take her to the vet, she's almost due for her 1-year exam anyway.

The earthquake & tsunami are horrible! I'm glad krampus is ok, but of course so many people we don't know aren't. I'm amazed, I've read that Japan's strict building codes saved a lot more destruction from happening. Wow.

Well, it looks like #5 is a go. I told one of the organizers that I didn't want to take DH all that way just for a toga party. My last (and only) reunion was my 20th and they had an alum only cocktail party the first night at a country club. I had a good time but it was so loud with music (they had a band) that it was next to impossible to talk to anyone. My friend that I went with happened to be a member of the club and we ended up going over to the restaurant with a couple other alums and had a nice, cozy chat. The second night was more formal dinner with DH involved. It was a little stuffy, but we both had a great time. This year, since I've reconnected with so many people on FB, I think it will be more fun. I'm actually looking forward to a nice weekend at the resort more than anything, but it's a whole lot more fun if friends are involved--not just me and DH as we hang out together ALL the time. I hope we'll get a room at Snowbird for the weekend (must look at reservations) and I imagine that if the party is kind of a bust, we can always gather a few friends to go back to the room and sit and have a good time. (Can you tell I like hanging out with others?)

Today we're driving into Fullerton for a concert and then taking DD and her friends out for an early dinner. DD made reservations. I'm not sure how many of her friends are coming--two for sure, but at one time it looked like seven. The more the merrier!

I'm so not looking forward to going to SLC on Wednesday. It'll be cold (snow last week and I'm really enjoying the 80's we have here). I have to deal with some not-so-nice issues with my parents. I think it'll be several days of stress. I do intend to "announce" my arrival on FB in hopes that some of my friends stop by...
