Default Applause for everyone!

You're all doing really well! Exercise and clean eating, with just a few tiny slip-ups.

Me too today.

I was out in -16 weather most of the day until it warmed up to -8 and started to snow a bit. I have no problem with the cold as I have learned to dress for it over the years. The dogs are all still really excited to see me and are being happy little angels.

Then I had to go to the bank to speak to someone about my dad. He's going to end up losing his house (his own fault - long story) and everything I'm doing to try to stop that ends in verbal abuse from him. I think I'm just gonna throw in the towel.

The house is my childhood ( and some adult life too) home and was my mom's legacy to me. It's making me very sad that this elderly idiot is going to throw it away. It was also the only way I could ever own a house of my own.

Nothing more I can do than I'm doing and eating won't help any. That's why I'm here typing instead.

I'm looking forward to being back out with the dogs tomorrow. They make so much of the human ugliness I face just disappear.

Have a good night everyone!

Aww, Dag sorry to hear about your problems ...

I had a good day all around... Ran, dyed my hair, made a nice supper of salmon for DH and I, had a good food day ...

Wink Holiday "hangover"

I'm looking forward to getting all of the holiday stuff finished this weekend. I think I will really start to feel like it's 2008 next week .

The food is all gone but the decorations linger on. And my office is a mess! Piles of paper to be dealt with . I bought my commercial dogwalkers permit last week and went to put it with my gear this morning. Now I just have to remember where I stashed it

I'm hoping Monday really feels like Monday next week. Time for "normal" life to resume.

Ilene Sounds like you're really OP already. I will get there by Monday.

Dagmar: It's tough to get organized until you have some downtime - I'm sure by monday you'll be on track! It must be great to do what you do! You mentioned your office so I was wondering if you are juggling two jobs or are you full time dog walking? I always wanted an active job!

Today is a new day. I didnt do too well in the eating department yesterday. After dinner had way too many snacks. Tonight I have a plan to stop that and we'll see how it goes! I tracked my calories yesterday for the first time in ages. That was a wake up call. Cheese is a killer. I eat it way too much. I think relearning the calories in things will help me to lose this weight. I'm super determined right now. I've been following my exercise plan really well. I know that changing my diet will really help - that's always been tougher for me than working out. Little changes are victories though and I'm proud of what I've done so far!

Have a good day everyone. It's snowing a bit here. Maybe it is slightly warmer than yesterday!

I have purged the house of bad food (well, all bad food that tempt me, anyway). After this weekend, I'll also purge the house of wine and next week I'll be 100% on plan!

I ran 2 miles yesterday and walked 1 mile with DH after dinner. The walk made me a bit stiff this morning (and I didn't want to get out of bed), but I persevered and here I am. So far, I am on plan today. I had a great breakfast, I have my snack ready to go and as long as I do well at my lunch out with the kids, everything today will be great. Now only if the scale would start moving (down).

Not too bad.... I "officially" weighed in the a.m., and the scale said 140 - just up 1 from where I was before Christmas (I saw 139 as recently as Dec. 19, to be exact). Believe me, with all the sweets I consumed over the course of about 10 days, gaining 1 pound is getting off easy! I'm back to counting calories, have done well for 3 days so far, and have worked out every day. I would like to lose 5 by Feb 10 - that's a pound a week, should be doable, as long as I stay on track consistently. That's the hard part for me - doing it consistently instead of having good days and not-so-on-program days.

That's the hardest part for me too... that and keeping away from the wine, it's Friday night!?!? I may give in and have one glass, maybe... I'm not sure... When I have one I want two then I want to snack... Just a vicious circle ...

So far so good today...

Thumbs up tracking the calories

I used to just estimate the calories, based on what I remembered from dieting years ago. Lost no weight .

Then I got a calorie counts book and a food scale. No wonder I wasn't losing. My counts were off by as much as 400-500 per DAY !!

I tracked and logged everything and figured out what I could eat to stay below 1400 per day by literally doing the math every day.

Lost 13 lbs. in 4 months.

And I can't drink any alcohol at all as my willpower just liquefies

Am going to try to catch up on my reading a bit. DH already has the TV on but I'm going to try to resist until 9 p.m.

Good night everyone!

I agree with the alcohol killing the willpower! I try to stay away from it!

Yesterday was a great day for me! I only had 5 pieces of frozen pineapple after dinner. I was craving more and really thought about having something else but after the night before's binge I thought better of it and I'm happy that I did today. Usually I dont eat breakfast because I binge at night so today I woke up hungry! I used to eat breakfast before I moved here so I'm happy that I might be back on a more suitable schedule. This is day one but it's a start! I just have to do a couple things this morning in order to reach my excercise/activity goals and then I'm done for the week! I'm really proud of myself for sticking to it. I think my possible rewards and finally getting myself to shape are really motivating me!

I am meeting a friend for lunch and then having a couple friends over for dinner tonight so I will have to watch my eating. It is kind of nice to have people over at your house though because my meal plan is pretty healthy!

Have a great day everyone,
This group is really helping me to stay accountable for my decisions. Thank you!

Good morning and happy weekend to you all! It is a balmy 30 degrees here and I am psyched to get outside for a run. Had a great cross country ski yesterday with the dogs. But then I had a glass of wine...and another...and a piece of pizza...and another...

I am also getting back on track with weighing and measuring. It's a little frustrating, though, because my BF gives me a hard time about it and tells me to stop being so anal and to lighten up. (Nothing, and I mean nothing, pisses me off faster than being told to lighten up.) I am practicing my best ignore-him skills.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Men are hilarious sometimes. My DH is now a member (by proxy) of the January club. One of his main dieting points was
"No more frankenfoods (things with additives, scientific enhancement etc.)"

So the dear man goes out and buys these eggs that look like aliens produced them. Super large size, double yolks, and shells the colour of no eggs I've ever seen before. Tell me there's been no enhancement/hormoe injections there .

I mentioned this to him and he said
"I didn't notice. They looked ok to me"

I am not sending him shopping again without adult female supervision

After dinner eating has never been a problem for me. It's that hour before dinner that is my biggest obstacle. I've tried copious amounts of water.....broth.....staying out of the kitchen....and invariably I end up munching on nuts or chips or crackers or cheese or whatever little tidbit ends up in my hand. Anyone have any ideas for me?

Alinell -- my suggestion is to maybe cup up celery and carrots and munch on them while your making supper... I munch on them on my commute from work, it keeps me awake...

Veerie -- I agree with Mudpie men ARE hillarious .... Just keep doing what you're doing and he'll just get used to it... I've been doing it for 20 years, it's just a habit now, and no one notices at all anymore...

Bikini -- You're in Ottawa I see, I'm in Cornwall ... I often go to Ottawa, if you ever want to get together for coffee we can, if you're not uncomfortable with that... I've met up with a couple of gals from Ottawa that I've met on 3FC it's a lot of fun to sit and talk and put a fact to the name...

I am such a LOSER Last night we went to some friends, drank wine of course when we came home I got into the cashews, the last of the Christmas foods left in the house. The only good part is that there was about a cup left, I ate about half a cup, and threw the rest away... This brought my calories count for yesterday up to 1963 ... I was down one pound this morning though, go figure ...

I am off to the gym to do some back workout ...

Allison, that's the bad time for me, too. I've been trying chewing gum for the past week and it's been working. I got the idea from Mandalinn. Good luck!
