He ended up being diagnosed with Sickle Cell and we had to get off the mountain immediately because his spleen was enlarged and could have ruptured (his liver was compromised also). So, down the mountain we went and got him into the local hospital. He got out on Sunday but we have to go see a specialist on Thursday so we can understand this whole thing as it pertains to our life.... So, crazy huh? Oh, I gave you all the short and sweet story of course! I just can't believe at 45 yrs old we find this out! Wow.....
Hi Denise, My goodness, what a scare. I'm a little behind on posts, but I just read the update and I'm so thrilled that they think it's not Sickle Cell disease. What a relief!

Denise you look great. This time around I am going to take your advice and not cheat. I think it will make a huge difference.
Also I am taking Meemo's advice and am exercising.
Glad to see you back!

I had gotten down to 212, but could not seem to lose anymore. Then, my health got all wacky and I gained a lot of it back. I do not have a colon - had it removed in 1991 because of ulcerative colitis. So, my diet is complicated. I cannot have raw fruits and veggies, red meat, spicy things, nuts, seeds, and many other yummy things. I can only eat cooked green beans, cauliflower, and broccoli. I eat Beechnut Stage 1 green beans for a veggie for lunch when I am away from home and Stage 2 Apples and blueberries for a fruit. I have a myriad of health problems and take lots of medicine.
I have been doing Wii Fit faithfully since October. It is very motivating even though I am limited in what I can do. I had been told that I needed knee replacements, but could not have them until I was 50. I am 37. This is another reason I got discouraged. I was originally told that if I started losing weight I could have the partial replacements. Well, all of that was false!! I have recently learned that I have meniscus tears in both knees and a pinpoint fracture in the left knee. This what what they believe is causing the majority of the pain. I should be having the surgery on my right knee in March. Since MRC was originally created to help bedridden people lose weight, it should be a perfect fir for me since I will not be able to do Wii Fit during rehabilitation.
I am excited to be back. I have some weeks left at MRC, but cannot afford to go back. I have been buying my supplements and bars from diet direct, but that has gotten to be too costly. I plan on buying the ingredients for Meemo's concoctions tomorrow. She is very wise. I have always learned a lot from her and the other veterans. I look forward to joining our group's journey toward healthier lives in 2009!
Thanks!
Oreoparent:-)
Hi Oreoparent!!! I'm so glad you are back on here - I've really missed you. We haven't herd from Donuts in ages.
Denise - have you run into him at the center?

That's great news - it's the health issues that keep me the most motivated. I honestly feel I'm as comfortable in my skin at a size 8 as I was at a size 24 - but the health improvements are what make me want to continue to work on keeping the weight off. Plus, the clothes are cuttier

I've made an appointment to go back to my MRC center (or as Sam hears and says it, "the Mercy Center") on Tuesday to see if I can't kick start myself and get back on track. Our wedding is May 30 and it just isn't acceptable to me to be weighing 200 again. Life is so sweet these days and love is so joyful. I just need to do this to take care of myself. Anyway, here I am again, ONE MORE TIME.
What great news! So excited to hear about your wedding and I'm glad your back on the board. Wow, this has been a good reunion week!

My program isn't up until the 26th of Feb so I'm going to just keep plugging away until the end and wherever I end, is where I'll be! I'm so pumped. I'm thrilled. Just think, when I get to 177lbs lost I can say I've lost 1/2 of myself! What a journey this has been.
I am so excited for you!!!!

It's good to see such a great loss this far into program too! You have to promise to continue on the maintainers thread when you are done. I miss our old friends who have stopped posting - you have been doing this with me since the beginning, so I just couldn't handle losing touch with you!!
I'm in the middle of a plateau so my body is testing me. I'm just pressing on and trying not to focus on the #'s on the scale. My 5k training is going great - I'm on week 5 of the 9 week program now. I did something a little silly this morning, I signed up for a 5k run/walk on Feb 7th. I don't know if I will be able to complete it - but I thought it would be fun to try! They did adjust my goal weight down last week - I'm still trying to wrap my head around the # - 155! It's right in the middle of my 145 - 166 range, but I had my heart set on my goal weight of 160. I still have plenty of time left on my contract. They are going to be flexible with me if I get close to that # and feel like it's too low. I'm .5 over the healthy BMI range, which is really exciting for me!! So overall, life is good!
