  • Zan, guy bashing is an integral part of Threadkiller. Just as it is any womans job to tease and torment her husband or boyfriend. This is just a great place to pick up ideas for that. Speaking of good ideas, what happened to Julia? She always had a helpful suggestion ot two
  • Girls RULE...Boys drool!
  • Quote: "Yes Ang...your tea is almost ready and your car is warmed up..."
Sounds a bit like my folks in the morning when I was a youngun'...

"Frank, I need my coffee." yells Mom.
Papa comes running in with a cup.

    "Fraank, my coffee is cold."
Papa takes the 1/2 cup in and warms it.

"Frraaank, I need another cup of coffee!!"
    Papa passes out from exhaustion.
  • I made turkey and gravy tonight for dinner...

after entertaining knucklehead nephew and his girlfriend that just arrived...he being stationed in San Diego and she having an interview at a local college...

turkey was leftover from Thanksgiving...gravy was from a jar...

I did make the rice though....and defrosted the sourdough bread we toasted to go with it....
  • You are a prince among men, Gary. Next time perhaps you should try cooking something...
  • Quote: You are a prince among men, Gary. Next time perhaps you should try cooking something...
WTH did Angie ever do to you to deserve that kind of viciousness?
  • Tag! You're it!
  • Isn't it amazing how I am treated like the soft spot on a baby's head around her.....
  • *points out* He cooked the rice, does that count?

My mom stopped cooking when we were kids and refused to eat her 'grownup' food or leftover-casserole (she can cook, she was just banned from the kitchen to the couch and rather liked that idea, ). My Dad has cooked ever since... maybe that's why I'm huge , Great! Now I have a craving for his chili!

I wonder if it is rude to call him up and say, "Dad, you know I love you right? ... Can you make another batch of your chili?!?!?!?!" *giggle*
  • Send that recipe ZAN...we are just a few weeks away from Grammi Judi's Memorial chili here at my house....
  • Oh Billy...where r u?

12 days til <3 day...54 posts left...we need an average of 4.5 a day to kill this THREAD by LOVERS DAY!

Please note our average daily post number is going down...
  • Oh, Gary, I'd make it myself if I could get that out of him!

I absolutely loathe leftovers (see previous post and mom comment - you'll understand I hope), but I'd eat every reheated bit of his chili... mmm. And there is never any left for longer than a week even though he makes a huge, and I mean huge, pot of it! *playfully glares at family members*

He's one of those, "hm, what do we have in the cabinets/pantry" & "some of this, couple cans of that, what's left of this" kind of cooks, so measurements have never been done and it is different every time!

But the heat, consistency (thick sauce-like-liquid, with nice chunks), and spices are always right and the variations are good (except when he made it with buffalo, I wasn't backing the bland-tasting buff' meat in chili, but he makes it with chicken or turkey breast too and those are so good, same with the traditional ground lean beef! The beef, especially with melted sharp cheddar on top, and maybe a rather optional piece of good cornbread or buttered white bread to go with it is the absolute best). The chili is always best the next day too, when the ingredients all really have a chance to mingle together.

It has been a while since he's made some, since my parents and I are trying 'healthier' things, but I think I'll sneak over there Friday night and spy on him, call him up probably this afternoon... But I have to be careful! He might make it before the end of this week and I'll miss the opportunity to hover and take notes! Wow, can you tell that I am obsessed? I've tried the last three times he's made it to get a recipe out of him, first time he didn't write it down, second he had already finished making it, and last time I came in as he was putting in the last ingredients.

Everyone seems to make 'chili' different, and that's annoying when you want some and end up with a meat soup where I'm at. Bleh!

Wow, I wrote a novel... SORRY!!!

    Uh, short answer, I'll try!
  • Quote: 6 more weeks of winter according to Punxatawny Phil ! But what does he know, he's a guy !!
BAHAHAHA!!!! And his name is Phil, but I'm bias. I'm a Phil hater!! LMAO
  • zan , I have to differ with you about what goes with chili. Cornbread is a good choice, but white bread ! Nothing but fresh sourdough French Bread will do !
Watching a good cook and trying to duplicate their efforts, good luck ! I have stood by mother and followed her step by step to fry chicken like she didi. I was never able to come even close.
