  • Hey guys,
I am sorry you are sick Angel. I hope ya feel better.
Ammi--Thanks for the encourgement!! I am feeling and doing better today anyway!! I amstill trying to find my way around and to try to catch up but I think thats impossible eh?
Michelle-I have never hurt my knee so I don't know whats going on. Its feeling better now. Maybe I need to rest it every other day.
  • Quick drive by. I wanted to WELCOME all the new folks who've joined us this week. I wish I could tell you individually how great this list is and how happy I am that you've joined us, too. This site and these gals are the absolute greatest! Please be sure to stick with us even during the most challenging times - they happen to all of us, and that's when you need a boost or a group hug the most! And of course, please tell us about your victories, big and small. Every step takes each of us closer to where we want and deserve to be, and each success is a cheer to endourage the rest of us. WELCOME!

Work called. Have to go in for an hour on my precious day off to get trained on the new computer system. They installed it in the trucks this week and it's how we'll get paid from now on.

Went shopping today & managed to drop $250 at Wally-World, mostly on stuff for work. Thank goodness for plastic. At least I'm set now, so when the rain comes and the snow blows and I have to stand in it all watching the fuel drop, I'll stay warm and dry. I also bought 10 and 20 pound weights, so I can lift those at home since time to go to a gym is pretty scarce these days. I need to get busy with some log-able exercise time!!

LILION - WAY BIG CONGRATS on hitting that 95 pounds down!!!
  • Hey guys!
I'm popping back in to say "thanks" for all the kind words. I was feeling pretty down yesterday. I feel a little better today. I'm trying to figure out a different diet plan. I'm not too sure what to go with, but I'm considering calorie counting. I would love to do Weight Watchers because I heard it's really easy, but I can't afford it. So, I'm shopping around, so to speak.

Voodoo1, I'm kind of liking the idea of DVD's at home. Do you have any suggestions? I already have one that is step aerobics, but it would be nice to mix things up a bit. I'm not sure if I want to continue Curves after my membership runs out. I'm just really bored with it.
  • About Annie (Dogpal)
A few of you have been offering your best wishes for a speedy recovery to Annie after her back surgery. I just want to let you all know that the procedure didn't go ahead. She has to have a test to confirm that it is indeed a lump that needs removing. She is pretty down about the delay, and of course losing her brother, so that's more than likely why she hasn't posted herself today. I am sure she will appreciate all your kind words when she reads them. Until then please, those that pray, can you add Annie to your prayers helping her to get through this tough time in her life.

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • Catching up on Thread 1051
Ok, now to continue playing catch up

Jill - sorry to hear about the kafuffle you are having with getting your car fixed. Insurance people sure are quick to take your money, but when it comes to paying out they take their sweet time. I hope the other guys insurance people don’t take too long with their ‘investigations’ and will keep my fingers crossed that you don’t get the snow fall you are dreading

Sharon - I reckon with the way you are back on track now there will be no need to change your ticker, not in the upwards direction anyway. Roll on Saturday so we can see how well you have done.

Zelma - thanks for your confidence in me yet again, I won’t let you down. It’s day 3 of me being on track and I have got that old buzz back. I just know I will keep on exercising, eating right and seeing the lbs start to come off again.

I know what you mean about what kids watch today. Have you ever seen the film called Me, Myself and Irene. It’s a Jim Carrey film. It is very funny, but it’s full of foul language and there are some quite crude bits in it. Ok for adults, but the film only has a rating of 15. Beth turned 15 in May and keeps asking to watch the DVD I have of it, but this is one time that I am going to over rule the ratings people. That’s a film she can watch when she has left home or is at home but at least 18!

I loved hearing about Melbourne Cup Day, we always used to get a sweepstake bet too when I lived there. I think in school I won $1 once

You are so busy lately, I bet you can’t wait til the summer holidays start and you have a bit of free time. Hopefully you will be able to post more then, you are missed a lot around here

That is pretty cool that you had a dream about me and Sharon visiting you. I hope you don’t normally have dreams that come true because as much as I would LOVE to visit you, I don’t fancy having another daughter As Sharon said, the two I have now are more than enough for me

Sue - Are you still waiting until Saturday to put the Gazelle together, or have you been too keen on having a go on it and put it together already Oh no, you have me worried now If most people you know are saying that 5 or 10 minutes on the Gazelle is really hard going, maybe I am doing it wrong!! The only thing that makes me want to get off the thing is that my feet start to really hurt after about 20 minutes. It really annoys me because if not for them I could spend much longer on there. 30 minutes twice a day is enough for now though but I am actually looking forward to the days when I am just maintaining my weight loss and the kids have left home. Then I can set the rider up in front of the TV and just work out whenever I feel like it while I am watching the TV

I am sorry that you had to witness that awful RTA. Things like that are so distressing. My DD has to travel half an hour to and from school every day with the car having to use the Motorway (Freeway?) The near miss accidents that we see all the time, and unfortunately some awful accidents really upset me, and I worry sick that with Beth having to constantly go on those roads that one day she might be involved. But let’s not think of that, no no, time to change the subject!

Angel - hope you don’t mind me asking, but what Oral surgery will you be having done? I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed a few years back and because of my size, about 280 lbs, they didn’t want to put me out for it to be done. So with a local anaesthetic they chipped and drilled and yanked away. It wasn’t pleasant, but oh yes, there were definite diet benefits during my recovery Anyway I hope whatever you have done will go smoothly and that you won’t be in too much pain afterwards.

Great news isn’t it that you will be able to have that lipoma removed now that you have lost enough weight for them to be able to find it more easily. I bet you will be so pleased to get rid of that thing and not be restricted in what exercise you can do. Let us know how you get on when you go to have it checked out on the 15th.

Andie - I am so sorry to hear that your DD is still so unwell. It’s heart breaking when they are unwell isn’t it. I hope she will be better soon, not only for her sake, but for yours too, sounds like you could do with a nice rest.

Thanks for letting me know about the shorter DVD of Richard’s. I am not sure if I will look into getting it because as you know he doesn’t explain how to do stuff as well as necessary some times. As many times as I have done Disco Sweat, I am sure I am still making up a few of the steps that just kind of look like what he is doing lol. That’s why I love the ‘Dummies’ work out DVDS. The weight lifting one sounds great, but for now I want to focus on the aerobic side of things so I might get the ‘Workout for Dummies’ DVD next.

WOW 31” lost from your body in a month, that is awesome It’s great taking measurements as well as just weighing isn’t it. The scales can be so fickle, but that tape measure more often than not will always give good results

Michelle - that weather sounds pretty darn awful, and you hardly have any day light either. Good job you don’t suffer from SAD.

Excellent news on the NSV. Fitting comfortably into those pants again must have been wonderful. I tried on a pair of jeans I bought in July and they are swimming on me now. It’s only times like that when I realise just how much weight I have lost

Valerie - I love your friend Barb because she said exactly what I feel after reading your post about how things have been in work. I won’t be at all surprised if you post again soon and say that you DID get those pipes up and over the truck and that you WERE sitting proudly on top of the truck with them when your instructor turned up. You really strike me as the kind of person who WILL do what they set out to do, be it losing weight or proving to men that not all women truck drivers are going to be Fluff Chicks. I really am proud of you for being so determined

Excellent news about the weight loss too, and for being strong enough not to have eaten those two pumpkin pies at McDonald’s. You are one amazing lady

Seattlegrrl - hello and Great to have you hear. I am sorry that you had a stint in hospital recently, I hope you are all recovered now, I am guessing so seeing as you have such a good exercise routine going. You are better than me, you made the decision to change your life and lose the weight not long after realising how much you need to after being in hospital. With me despite really suffering in hospital because of my size it took me 3 long years to feel well enough both physically and emotionally to get my life on track.

Congratulations on giving up smoking. I have never had to do that, but my sister often tries and unfortunately fails. Whereas I used to use food as my comfort thing, my sister uses cigarettes. I have learned that food isn’t the answer to my problems, I just wish my sister would learn that too about her ciggies. Any tips I could give her?

Raven - I am sorry that you saw a gain on the scales. I really hate those horrid things. Or more to the point I hate the power we let them have over us. We have to learn and really believe that when we see gains that are undeserved that it ISN’T our fault and we are doing great at our diets. I hope you don’t let it keep you down for too long because soon enough you will be getting on those same scales and seeing a wonderful loss!

Your step dad sounds a bit loopy if you ask me, if not paranoid. For one, how can it be his fault even if you were a lesbian, and secondly, why freak out about it anyway? The only thing that would upset me if I found out either of my girls were Lesbians is that I know that although it’s much more widely accepted now there are still some bigots out there who would give them a hard time. Anyway, I am sorry that your SD got the wrong idea and gave you grief over it. Has he calmed down now enough to listen to you explain why you wrote what you did on your Blog?

One last thing, lol, I am jealous, you are the same height as Sharon (voodoo) and I wanna be that tall!!! Where was my mum when they were handing out the tall gene

Patti - oh wow, was that me you dreamed visited you? I am getting around a lot lately, Australia to visit Zelma and the US to visit you! Now if only the real me could make these visits

Ok I have now caught up on two threads, one more to go, phew I am going to post them all separately because I don’t want to do one massive post

Bye for this part of my post,

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • Ok here I am with the third and final catch up post….

Quiggs - hello and I am the same as you, when I am bored with the exercise I am doing I just have no motivation to do it. I bought a Gazelle Rider which I LOVE and which I never get bored with. But just to keep the rest of my body in shape I was also alternating between 3 different exercise DVDs. Unfortunately I got bored with them, and add to that me getting sick, and then having a week of social activity and I just couldn’t be bothered to exercise at all. I only just got back on track on Monday and what has really helped me is a new DVD to work out to. You know you are bored with Curves, so is there anything else you would like to try? Getting motivated to exercise is half the battle when it comes to sticking OP. I mean you aren’t going to wear yourself out working out and then go eat something naughty, or you will be less inclined to anyway

You can do Weight Watchers without it costing the Earth. Honestly if you can just go to one class so you can be weighed and find out how many points you should be on, and if you can buy yourself a points calculator which will come with instructions on how to use it to work out points in foods, then you are sorted. You don’t have to pay to go to any more classes, there is no special food you have to buy, and for me it’s the best diet in the world. It works for me Your dad nags at you about your size, so maybe you should get him to do something to help you like pay for that one WW class and the calculator!

Xena - good grief, what a tactless, thick, insensitive boss you have. Surely even an imbecile would realise that it’s not nice to refer to somebody as BIG. I guess you should just feel for him, he mustn’t have been in the queue when they were giving out brains Seriously, I am sorry that you had to deal with that

How did it go a the WW class? I hope it wasn’t as bad as you expected. If it was though, don’t worry about it too much. You are back here now, you are back on track, and we are all here to help you stay OP and start shedding those lbs again!

Kymberly - I am still at the size where if I go into a shop like Gap I can’t help but think people are wondering what an earth I am doing in there. I sometimes go in shops like that to look for things for Beth and Caleigh, but I hate every minute of it. I look forward to having a time like you had today where you could go in that shop and not feel uncomfortable or like you shouldn’t be there.

Starbucks is a killer isn’t it, I love going there but all that delicious food is just soooo tempting. I normally have just a skinny caramel macchiato to drink, and I watch hubby have a cup of tea and a muffin, or something else equally delicious. Sometimes I give in and have something too, but I try so hard to be strong. It’s just so difficult, and I don’t think I could say no to that 7 layer cookie. We don’t have them here but they sound positively decadent. I am glad you had it and then got back OP. One treat doesn’t have to mean a week of them, learning that lesson helps me keep on track for most of the time

Katt - I hope the job interview went well. that you get the job.

Lavendel - do I count as having lost a lot of weight, or do you mean people who have actually reached goal, or are not far from it? If I count, so far my legs are fine. My tummy is a little saggy, and my upper arms are awful, my boobs have definitely sagged, but my legs are ok. I think we are all different though, not just in how much we lose from each area, but also with how elastic our skin is. Some people will lose weight and the skin will look just fine, others will notice the sagginess.

Jill - I posted to you on my other catch up thread and didn’t see your latest post. I am glad the insurance problem is all sorted out now and that you will be getting your car fixed pretty soon. What a relief for you.

Thanks for posting the pics, I always love seeing photos and I loved seeing another one of those adorable penguins.

Crittle - isn’t it weird how we can end up in more pain as we lose weight than what we were at our biggest size! I am sorry your knee is giving you some bother, perhaps you need to strap it up for support while you exercise. With me it’s my back that I suffer with. It has improved with my weight loss, but I still have days where I am laid up with it. It really annoys me because I think to myself WHEN is the pain ever going to go. The doctors are positive it’s all caused by my size and although I have lost a lot of weight I am still obese. So I will wait to get into a normal weight range and then if I am still suffering with my back I will be going back to the doctor and will be keen to see what excuse they give me for my back pain then.

Lori - wow another lb off, that’s fabulous. I bet you are still smiling about it now

Angel - sorry to hear you are feeling unwell, I hope you will be feeling much better soon. It sucks being ill, but it sucks even moreso when you are trying to lose weight.

Ok now I have FINALLY caught up with you all, I can go do some emailing LOL. Take care all, bye for now,

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • Just wanted to drop in and say thanks for all the replies everyone, I'm just heading out the door though. Hopefully I will be back with some minutes to add! Later chickies - stay OP!

  • Darn it I pushed the wrong button and I was'nt finished yet, here goes part 2...
Xena - If I had a dollar for every insult....well you know how it goes. Your boss is a insensitive, thoughtless jerk. Thanks for the cyber hug.
Jill-I was a fat kid too. When I was teased about my weight I went off to play by myself a lot. Now I'm an adult that still keeps to herself somewhat but I'm getting better.
Ammi-It's easy to keep track of you now...a crush on Gopher?!
