Jen – I hope you feel better. They might not do much, but when I feel like that I always take an Emergen-C which is a high dose vitamin C and other vitamin drink. You can get them at Trader Joe’s, Vitamin Shoppe and other vitamin/health food places.
Katt – As Ayanna said, it is Labor day – the official end to summer. It doesn’t feel like we have too many. If I were to choose I might go for the UK – they have all those bank holidays.
Kenya – I hope you are feeling better. I know it has been awhile, but is your hubby back from his trip? I hope school is going ok. I used to be in the library late at night studying and the other people there were always the nursing students (you are in nursing – right?). All of that memorization looks really tough.
Kim – Do you have an iPod or similar? Music really helps me stay with it through the whole workout. Congrats on being down another 2.5!
(wow – all those K names)
Brenda – Actually I am planning on going to a buffet soon – either this week or next. It is a sushi buffet, but still. Also my favorite Indian food in the area is in a buffet (although we haven’t been there in awhile). The mentality of “I paid X amount and all of that looks really good so I want to get my money’s worth” is hard to break. That is great that you are recommitting though. If the planning worked for you, then that is probably the way to go again. I have really wide feet too and like New Balance shoes.
Ayanna – I know that some people do a lot of things to not eat at events (bring their own food, eat before they go, etc.) From my point of view, unless you are going to events every weekend, the important thing is to have a good time. I try to pick something I like and have a modest portion of it, put it on my plate and walk away from the food table. Also, I will give myself choices – have either the pasta salad or the potato salad but not both, and try to get veggies if they are available. Most of all I try to eat until I am just satisfied and not stuff myself. The important thing is moderation and making generally better choices. Also, it can be great to reflect back on the day (in a non-judgemental way) of how you could have done better. Something like “I stood next to the chip bowl for too long and ended up taking more handfuls then I meant too. Next time I can put some on my plate and move away”.
Valerie – We are glad you are home! Are you going to be looking for a job then? It would be great if you could work with horses. Having tapes around is good. I don’t use them very often, but they are great in a pinch.
Misti – Congratulations on hitting 60 pounds lost! That is fantastic! Only 4 more pounds to being half way there.
Michelle – I totally agree on the routine stuff. The weekends are hardest for me because I am out of my normal routine. It will take time to build it though, so don’t be too hard on yourself.
Ammi and Sharon – are you back yet?
I took my measurements this morning – 1 off each of my waist and hips and a half inch off my calf, thigh and chest. Pretty cool! Nothing off my arms though although I have been measuring loose not tight. Does anyone know which way I should measure? Or I suppose I could do both.

I had THE most wonderful time in London, but boy was it exhausting. I guess that comes from trying to squeeze a lot of things into the short time we had there. We went to Madame Tussauds, The London Dungeons, Westminster Abbey, The Globe Theatre, The Science Museum, The Natural History Museum, Harrods, Hyde Park (to see the memorial fountain for Princess Diana) we went to the Dominion Theatre to see a fab musical called We Will Rock You, and we, well Caleigh and I, went on the London Eye. Daren doesn't like heights so even though I pre booked the tickets thinking he would feel safe in the 'pods' he couldn't do it
Anyway I will put some links to some pics on the pic page when I am done here.
to them now,
to those of you with NSVs or scale victories, and
to those that need them. It's good to be back and I hope I can keep up from now on.
The numbers on the sodium actually made my jaw drop on some of the things I used to consume. And I really need to be watching my sodium intake due to high blood pressure. So yeah I am happy to be learning I'm just quite in a shock to realize what type of things I have been eating and the amount. No wonder I always felt horrible after some of the junk I ate. The good thing is I really think twice before eating or wanting the junk. Especially now that I know how bad it really is and what it contains.
