  • I had a really rough day today. Here's just a sampling.

It's been 2 weeks since DH and kids started summer vacation. The house is a wreck. Nothing is getting done except DH is practicing guitar and roller blading.

Kids are staying up until all hours of the night (DS, age 10, is sneaking downstairs after I go to bed to watch TV). I woke up at 2 am this morning to find DD in our bed and I was about to be pushed out. I couldn't go back to sleep so I just got up, and putzed around until I could leave for the gym at 4:30.

Got to the gym and none of the music plug-ins were working on the treadmills which meant I was at the mercy of the TV for my 45 minute workout. It seemed like an eternity.

Our downstairs air conditioning unit blew and we found out today it's going to be $1,200 to replace it.

DS had an ortho appt today. Hubby called to say he has made hardly any progress since his last visit (mainly because for the last 2 weeks since DH has been responsible for it, DS has not been wearing his mouth gear).

I completely freaked after the call about the ortho. I have visions of us paying for this stuff forever. Got into a big argument with DH about responsibility and parenting, etc. I just get so tired of feeling like I have to be in control all the time or things won't get done.

After that I was in such a crappy mood that I hit the vending machines. Did some damage there, to be sure.

Got a call from the in-laws and FIL is going in the hospital for tests. He had a heart attack @ 10 years ago and has done great, but a recent series of tests caused concern, so he's going in the hospital overnight for more tests on Friday.

The only good things about this day were:
    1. I went to the gym.
    2. Everyone ordered in chinese for lunch but I declined.
    3. Got to watch a tape of my friend/co-worker, Brian, who was The Weakest Link Monday night (lots of fun, even though he was voted off).
    4. I quickly got back on track after the vending machine debacle.

I'm going to try to focus on the positive and put this lousy day behind me.

Hope everyone else had a better day.

  • HI!!!Ladies I'm back. I used to chat often about a year ago but I went off program because I was discouraged. I just stopped ,losing, my leader tried everything she could, but with no results. I was gaining!!!! Everytime I exercised I would swell. It has been awful. So...... my leader advised me to stop and go to the Doctor to see if anything medical was going on. Finally, went to correct Doctor and he has put me on thyroid medication and diuretics. I am praying that this works. I am once again, going to rely on you all again, for your encougagement and support.
Happy to see so many old friends. I am so proud of you all. I look forward to getting to know everyone else. Everyone have a great week!!!!!!!! PLUMS
  • I had a better than good week this week. The journaling I did paid off. I lost 2 lbs & got my 75 lb bookmark.

Went to a potluck last night where we grilled our own meat & tried a lazy, but tasty alternative to burgers. I bought some pre-cooked & shelled shrimp at the fresh seafood counter; squeezed some lime & a little bit of olive oil on it; sprinkled it with Cajun seasoning & threaded it on bamboo stick. When it was time to cook the meat, I threw it on the grill long enough to warm it up (bonus- I was eating long before the folks with raw meat!). If I'd just been able to avoid that 2nd cupcake, I would have had a pretty low-point meal, but at least I didn't have steak & a 2nd cupcake!

Our weather has finally decided to settle into summer. It's been in the 50s here for the last couple of weeks, plus rain almost every day. Good thing too! I start an outside Aquasize class on Monday.

    Have a good week everyone!
