  • Happy Friday Guys!
Gosh, I have completely fallen off the 'posting' wagon this week. I have been so busy.
My food plan has gone pretty well and I am down 4 pounds. I have been working out consistantly and all has been going pretty good over-all.

My baby Boy is having his B-day party tomorrow and I am going to do everything within my power to avoid the fudge filled chocolate cake he has requested for his special day. There is no "Oh just have a little slice" with me..... no sir.... I will continue to 'nurse' that damn thing long after the party until I am scraping the remnants of the frosting off the bottom of the box.
No...for me I must have a plan in place to avoid it. V-8 juice, a big salad, a sugar free ice pop or something before the cake presentation.
Then, of course, I must deal with having it in my house. If I avoid it, it will be the first time ever in my life.
There is a first tine for everything..right!!

A quick prayer couldn't hurt either...
    Wish me luck
I will try to be more present on LWL next week
    Have an awesome weekend Guys!
    XOXO

  • Hi lwl,

things are starting to speed up again I see, welcome back to our lost souls and lurkers. I had a wonderful week, as my "baby" cousin (who's now 24) came to see me here from the Netherlands and as BF has some days off. We went and explored the neigbourhood, saw lots of Roman temples and medieval churches and et the local delicacies (mostly pig offal and beans, not typically French I'd say). In between (haha) I went to work. Still no news on the mortgage for the house which is making BF crabby and me anxious. I really want this to go through. I even went to church to light a candle and did smt I never did before and probably never will again: I made a promise to set up a little thank you shrine in the garden (and I am not a really religious person either!) if this goes through, with a little light in it, and of course with lots of flowers around. Oh Boy. I did laugh at myself but will go through, I never go back on a promise so I'm stuck...

Our Portugese neighbour is trying to fatten BF up, she fed him while I was away, no danger though: she's about 60 and incredibly nice.
No danger of fattening up BF either: in the 4 months we've been living together (is it only that long), he's only put on 9 pounds, at a smashing total of 166 pounds on a 6'3" frame...
Food wise I won't even start to lie I did well, but at least I got my exercize in lugging around and playing squash with the boys. Good news is I'm getting better fast and I love it, and next week the gym opens again!!!

I also did a translation of a very funny article in a Dutch newspaper which I will post both here and in the Library, of a Dutch journalist who did the opposite of "supersize me" and lost 14 pounds in a month on a McD diet, which I think is hilarious.
Meanwhile, I am still collecting recipes (and also the ones you post ladies...).

Oops, phone is ringing, gotta GOOOOoooooooo

    your customer service Frenchie,

    Lieke
  • ladies and gent, where are you?

I'm up and working alone at the call center this morning, so very busy.
Still, did have time to post the article "undersize me" in the Library thread.

I also saw the opening of the Olympics yesterday evening and got homesick. Called some friends in Greece for a short talk (2 hours).

    Nice day to all!

  • Happy Saturday, LWL!

Hiya Cindy! I've been wondering about you! I hope today to go back and catch up on everyone. It's good to be back because I lost accountability to myself there for awhile, but NOW it's coming back. Good luck with your den, kiddo. Got one last room to do myself, but I go up, look at it, and just close the door. The mood will hit me soon though, I'm sure. Since it's finally stopped raining here long enough for exterior wood to dry out, we are going to paint the exterior windows and I'm painting the deck. Both should have been done in Spring! Aw, the joys of home ownership.

L2L - best of luck with that chocolate cake! Sounds tempting from where I'm sitting, but as Mel always says, "P-O-I-S-O-N!"

Greek Girl - I'm obsessing too about a house, except we haven't found one yet. Where we are looking, and in our price range (2nd home) they are few and far between. I haven't lit a candle or a promised a special garden, but I do *have* to keep telling myself, "what will be will be" or "if it's meant to be." I surely can relate to your anxiety!

One of the bad habits I fell back into was lack of planning. I have a tendency to do that with so much summer away from home things going on, but I also fell short at the grocery store. I was in such a habit of buying all the same clean foods over and over so that wasn't a problem. The problem was allowing myself to get bored with them and not taking the initiative to try something new. So a little bad carb here or there snuck it's way in, and before I knew it, I was hooked again. I also allowed myself to get too busy and not have food ready at hand. Meg had reminded me so many times, "You know what works," but did I listen? Yes and no. SO the plan this week foodwise is to buy EFL and get cooking, devote the first 2-3 hours of each day to myself, my food and exercise, and my PLAN.

There - I've recommitted - please hold me to it!

Hope all have a great weekend!

    Best!

PS - New pics coming to the LWL album.
  • Diphtong, thanx for your nice words. 'm so nervous, I haven't got a nail that's not bitten...

Hi Jack, hope you had a good workout! I was in the field hockey selection of Greece for a while, but had to stop because of outside factors. What I did learn and what disgusted me, was the politics played behind the screen, so I feel doubly for the athletes, and proud when I see someone doing their very best and giving it all.
I love the Games, and will run home again to watch tv after work. My sister and dad will go to the fieldhockey game Netherlands-India (men).

    see ya all later

  • Good morning LWL.
I missed the opening events of the Olympics last night because I was glued to the TV watching storm damage from the hurricane in FLA. I don't know why, but I love watching storms- somewhere else. The remnants are supposed to hit here late tonight, but just mostly a ton of rain. Since we've had a tone of rain every second day this summer, it's not going to be much different.

Lieke- Crossing my fingers and toes for you! I remember how terribly nervewracking buying our first house was. You're so right about all the politics behind the scenes in athletics (and I guess everything else in the world). I was a back-up for the first US whitewater kyaking team and my dd played women's lacrosse for Team Canada. Even in those TINY sports, there was so much politicking and backstabbing.

Dip- So Glad you are back and physically better! Hang with us, we've all meandered a bit a times.

Jack-My legs are STILL sore from Wednesday. I think I'm falling apart more quickly these days. Hope you can walk later today and tomorrow. And probably no bike rides- we'll both be underwater from the sounds of it!

L2L- So how did you do? Remember "I am stronger than a (insert goodies)"

Cindy- You're almost done your house? Come on south and visit me!

Mette- One days I lift really heavy, I starved. Actually, it's really the NEXT day. After leg days, sometimes I need to eat 7 small meals or I go out of control. The hunger is real!

    Morning Ilene!
Hello everyone I've missed- I'm off to the gym for a few clients, then to make up back and bi's. I was still too sore from Wednesday's and Thursday's workouts to lift anything yesterday. It's the first time in a long time I've put off a workout, but I may be about ready for a gym break. I'm just not recovering very well right now.

    Have a good weekend

  • desk-jockey
OK, I admit it, I was bored.

no-one's calling right now, my colleague who's has even fewer calls on this gorgeous Saturday is dozing in his chair, so i decided to invent my own desk-a-robics, which actually is a very good workout. It consists of all my favourite exercizes like squats, bolshewiks, etc but also of the desk-push up and the "high heel". Most 3x max, no breaks.

What do you think, new market crasher?

    Just-Joking GG
  • Just a shortie

Thanks for the support Mel and Jack

The desk-a-robics workout was better and harder than I thought, although I would rate it fairly beginner for me. I did several things for an hour or so and had to be careful not to pant in my mike while talking to customers. I actually feel better and much more alive than I did this morning. Amazing!
    Exercizes:
    squats
Leg raises combined with knee raises
    Bolshewiks
    Calf raises

    1/2 Desk Push ups
    water bottle biceps
    wall triceps

    Back: diagonal leg lifts alternated

Total time (not counting customer calls where I had to sit down) about 40 minutes

Not ideal, but at least something!

  • Hi all,

I'm at work today which is a rarity but sometimes only certain things can be done on the weekends. I had to get up at 5am, do some prework at home, then get to work by 7am. I made time to make some oatmeal before I left so that was good. I actually didn't get sleep last night for a really weird reason. My ex bf (of 3 months) sent me a picture of this girl he is dating (who he asked out less than a month after we broke up). I don't think she is all that pretty, she is alright. I thought it was kind of funny that she is super thin and blonde, both of which I'm not. Anyway, I didn't think it would bother me and I really didn't feel bothered about it, but I couldn't fall asleep last night! I'm hoping I can go home and take a nap sometime soon because I need some sleep.
  • Just a very quick note to tell you that I’m back from London with a light head and far, far better hair! And that I’m off to my parents for about a fortnight. Wish me luck as I wave away the crumble and cakes.

Dip, it’s lovely to see you back. I’m so pleased that the micro-surgery worked so well. I’ll see you in the gymn when I get back.

Mette, Teapot and Nelie – how do you do? I’m glad you’ve decided to join us and I’m sure we’re going to learn from you too. Nelie: your ex’s behaviour was out of order, plain and simple! Hope you’ve managed to catch up on some sleep now.

Brussels sprouts and chestnuts are a very good combo – not sure how they work out in terms of calories.

Iron wills, everyone. We can do it.
  • Hi LWL –

First of all: thank you all for good ideas for how I can eat better and stop being so hungry all the time. I was hoping you would tell me that the hunger will pass ( ), but giving suggestions on how to deal with it is very good too!!
I haven’t been eating many small meals throughout the day, so I’ll try to do that this week – try to eat every 3 hour or close to that. Eat lean proteins: omelets – cottage cheese – whey protein shakes – good suggestions. And also Ilene’s oatmeal pancake! (an all-time favorite!)

You’re all right of course: there’s no way I can go around being this hungry all the time.

Robin: no I’m not the same mette that’s on Airedale-L (which I had to google to find out what was – and now I’m guessing you have an Airedale Terrier or two? And that your username Airegrrl has something to do with that too? )

    Meg and Jack: great photos!
Lieke: a good and funny article about losing weight at McD – and good luck on the house!

I spent the weekend with family I don’t see or visit often, and of course I tried to be polite and eat the food I was served. Came back home starving from trying to eat well on bad (white, no-grains, full-fat, sugared, dressing on everything…etc) food. Looking forward to my oatmeal and cottage cheese now!
  • Mette -- Isn't it wonderful that we now think of oatmeal and cottage cheese as a comfort food? Our habits they are a changin'! And that's a good thing...

Nelie -- Just be happy he's now an "ex" and out of your life for good... Considerate people don't do such things...

Silver - Have a nice trip... Is a fortnight 2 weeks? Think P O I S O N when you see the cakes and goodies...

My day was very good... Biked 25k or 15.5 miles... It was a gorgeous day, a nice breeze no wind to really speak of... Food has been spot on too, today anyways... Yesterday, well, we'll leave yesterday there and forget about it!!

I watched Cold Mountain last night I really enjoyed it... Other than that life is pretty simple and easy around here... Oh, but I do go back to work on wednesday ALREADY, I can't believe how fast the summer has gone!!
