  • Spryng, girl, I feel sorry for you! I def. think the only person to be able to get through to them is going to be Dh. Don't let it get you down, although I know that is easier said than done. You only have their best interest at heart, so you are doing the right thing for being concerned! Like I said before, you want to do everything you can...no regrets. Maybe Dh could talk to his doctor...a good idea? At least he could let the Dr know they don't understand the situation. If I was concerned about my dad, I wouldn't hesitate to call his Dr! O.k. I've been in your business enough!!! Just can't help getting envolved, I understand your frustration! lol!!!
  • Good morning all!
I feel much better today, thank you all so much for your advice and for just listening to me rant, lol
Andrea, my Dh will be home this friday and I'm sure we are all going to have a family talk about it. I called him late last night and he didn't understand why they wouldn't even listen to what I was saying. SO he's going to call and talk to his dad today.
Geri, I hope you are feeling better today!
Hey did anyone watch Oprah yesterday?? It was so ironic because here i was doing alot of research on the heart and such and her show was about the human body and what a heart attack etc. They had actual human organs there to look at, like the heart of an obese person compared to a normal healthy heart, smokers lung and healthy lungs. They even showed an autopsy of an overweight person, and you should have seen the masses of fat INSIDE the body. They had to scoop it out just to get to the organs! The doctor said people are so worried about the fat on the outside of the body that they don't think about all the fat that is surrounding their heart and such inside. It was so gross. Oprah said she'll never have a problem with her weight anymore! lol. It was a great show. Very informative.
Also, did anyone watch 20/20 last night?? John Stossel did some more of his debunking myths we all believed growing up, and one was about homeopathic remedies. Very interesting. He proved they don't work and they are no different than plain water. (specifically the one for flu and colds) they bet one million dollars on it. Why does it work for some people? The placebo effect. But it was so cool to watch them prove it. I didn't know much about it so it was informative. He also said BCP's making you gain weight is a myth, popping your knuckles won't give you arthritis but what you hear is air being dispelled between your joints and is harmless. My grandma used to get on to me for popping my knuckles... so it was funny. Anyway, it was a good show. Just wondered if anyone else saw it.
Is anyone watching the super bowl tomorrow? Thankfully I won't have to this year because DH is gone... so I'm thinking of renting some movies instead.
Well, I bought a lean cuisine lasagna yesterday and I'm making it for dinner tonight. What is everyone else having?
Guess I'll get off of here. TTYL!
  • Good Morning,

Spryng, I'm glad you are feeling better. I did watch part of Oprah and I thought that show was too cool!!! I didn't catch 20/20. I was trying to get everything ready for Dh.

We had a fun night. We rented Finding Nemo for the kids and pulled out the couch bed and had a big party! It was fun to snuggle with Andrew. Since he is almost 7, he only gives "short hugs and kisses"! I def. got my fill last night!

To report my weigh in: I am 1lb down this week. So my weight is 158.5. I am very happy with that since TOM is due any day.

Hi to everyone and hope ya'll have a great Saturday!
  • Good morning all!

I'm feeling a little better. Just very tired and a little stuffy, but no headache like yesterday. I'm feeling so stuck in the house though!! It was -7 this morning. Supposed to get up into the teens today --woo hoo!! I need to go to Walmart or Target to pick up some stuff today so I'll have to go out. I'll wait for Dh to come home from work and go without the kids. Really don't like dragging them out in the cold although they could also use some fresh air. They're saying 31 on Monday with snow. Maybe we can get out for a little bit then.

I saw the Oprah show and thought the autopsy was very disgusting. Can't imagine what my insides look like but did it keep me from eating last night?????? I gotta get my crap together soon!! I will ... reading about all your successes really helps. Andrea -- congrats on the 1 lb loss and very glad that you got snuggle time with the family.

I also saw 20/20. Wanted to see the interview with Merideth Viera. I like The View so thought it would be interesting. The BCP thing surprised me...didn't know it was a myth even though I never gained weight because of the pill. The homeopathic thing didn't surprise me ...I have always been skeptical ... I agree with the placebo effect. A good positive attitude and open mind often does more good than medicine. The reason I liked the aromatherapy nurse was that she belives in combining it with traditional medicine.

I haven't decided what's for dinner tonight yet although I had better decide soon so that I can pull something out of the freezer. I really don't like defrosting in the microwave.

Well, have a great day today. Hope Dh can talk some sense into his father Spryng....

    Hello to everyone.
  • Hello again!
Geri I am glad you are feeling a little better and I hope you get to go out. I have to go shopping later too. I forgot to get milk yesterday and I was reminded this morning when the kids wanted cereal. So we all had oatmeal instead, lol. Yeah, I like the interview with Meridith. I always have liked her... I almost cried though when Barbara announced she was leaving 20/20, she is my favorite journalist. But it's nice that she isn't retiring... just giving herself some breathing room. And I LOVE John Stossel. I don't always agree with him but he makes alot of sense in his give me a break series.
Andrea, congrats on your loss!! And it sounds like you had some special family time last night. Me and my kids have been doing that lately... we put in a movie they want to see about 7:30-8:00 pm and that keeps the kids settled down before bed time (they can get so wound up) and gives us some time together in the same room, lol.
Well, I need to get off of here. Just been cleaning my kitchen this morning. TTYL!
