I hope it's not to late for me to jump in.
My name is Amy. I've been overweight most of my life as well. After my dad passed away I really ballooned up and got to 230, I lost 50 lbs and then gained it all back a few years ago. I was in a wedding in June of last year. When the pictures came back I really saw how much weight I had gained. (I was weighing in at around 260 then). In August I decided to get healthy and lose the weight. Since then I've lost 70 lbs. I still have 30 more to go to hit my goal weight.
As of right now I am currently trying to negotiate/sift through contracts to go teach English in South Korea starting in August. I am super excited but really want to hit my goal weight before I leave. I've been doing pretty well but I definitely have a soft spot for ice cream, cookies, and creamy bubble tea. And I know that the further I get down the harder the weight is going to be to lose. So I'd love to add my name to a support system to talk about the rough days and congratulate the achievements.

I was actually at a "normal" weight until I got to age 16, which is when I was put on some medication that I had a bit of bad luck with. One of the rarer side effects is extreme weight gain, and me being the lucky person that I am, I got that side effect. I weighed 154 pounds, and by the time I finished high school, I was around 220 pounds. Then I went off to college, and gained a bunch more weight due to food being everywhere, and it has only gone downhill from there. I am no longer on the medication that started it all, but my eating habits are TERRIBLE, and they have been keeping me heavy. My highest weight is 300 pounds, and luckily I have managed to drop a bit of it without really trying, but my weight loss journey starts now! I made an account on MyFitnessPal tonight, and I think it should be helpful. Can't wait to get to know all of you!
