"Faturdays" as a reward. Thoughts?

  • I actually do this and have done this for a year and have been in maintenance for at least a year, i have a day (Friday) where i eat literally thousands of calories=usually high calorie foods w/out restriction.

    ~BUT~

I immediately go back on plan Saturday through Thursday and probably some of those days i eat below calories and i eat healthy and relatively low carb especially. I just do not deviate and somehow it works for me. I imagine it will not work for those who cannot stop at one day

Do you think someone actively trying to lose weight could do it, or is this more for people in maintenance mode?
  • So i'm still new here and figuring out how to use these message boards properly but this is directed to Eagle: My friend used this technique WHILE she was losing, so for her it worked. But others on here have said they wouldn't go for a whole faturday and would rather do just a fat meal.

So i think it depends on each person's personality. I know that I do not have an addictive personality (affinity for food aside) and I can easily stop myself at a certain number of beers or just not have any at all, for example, so I think i could probably handle the Faturday technique and I'm going to try it out this weekend (already planning for a Mac & Cheese dinner and Chicago Mix popcorn for desert... lol)

There was someone earlier in the thread who questioned what you would do if you wanted to go out to dinner on a Tuesday, well you would just move Faturday to Fatuesday instead - essentially let yourself have 1 day off of plan and not stress about it, it just so happens that Saturdays are a pretty good day for relaxing and enjoying simple pleasures.
