The worse question you can get ever.

  • I have both been asked that and asked that question when the woman wasn't pregnant.

Just don't take it personally, honestly, she didn't mean any harm.
  • My mom asked someone that once.... they weren't pregnant. She felt so so so bad! She honestly is a good person and didn't mean to hurt them! Please understand that maybe the person meant no harm. Maybe it was just the clothing you were wearing? Or maybe they were meaning harm I don't know I wasn't there. But I'm sorry it happened I would feel bad if it happened to me too. HUGS!
  • Clearly this person was nuts. There is no way you look pregnant! When I first clicked on this thread and saw there were 3 pages, I figured that it had to have been an OLD thread from when you did weigh more. But now?? No way.
  • I must say that I am guilty of asking that question. I was a server many ages ago and this customer- that was a regular- is standing up and she kept rubbing her stomach (normal size girl, wasn't any bigger than usual or anything) so I asked her "are you pregnant???!!" And she quickly said "no way" I apologize and I was sooo embarrass! I told her that I saw her rubbing her belly so I just thought she was... After that time I never, ever ask that question, even if they look 9 months pregnant!!!!!

It's very funny now, because I am pregnant and I see people looking at my belly and smiling but they don't ask anything! Haha it's almost like its uncomfortable for them to see me like that! Lol

Anyhow... Back to you Don't take it personal. You know you look amazing
  • Mimsy,

That was so rude of that individual to ask. I would try to not take it too personally because as some of the other chicks say, which is so true, a lot of people just don't know when to keep their mouth shut. Personally I would like to take them to get their mouth wired shut though! Until then, all we can do is deflect the comments and realize that some of these budybodies have some serious psych issues.
  • How rude. NEVER EVER should anyone ask if you are pregnant, no matter how pregnant you look! I have been asked too. I think she was more horrified than I was when I said that I wasn't!
  • I have been asked this too! TWICE! It's incredibly hurtful. Some people are just dense and rude. You probably don't even look pregnant. People can be so ridiculous.
  • As most people have already said, throwing that kind of question at you is inconsiderate at best and makes you wonder why some people simply can't take a second to think before they start yappin'.

That said, as bothersome as it may be to immediately, turn it into added motivation going forward. Use it the same way that lots of us do when we see a picture of ourselves and go: "ugghhh..." Instead of letting you feel hurt or discouraged by it, let it make you think: "that's right.. that's why I'm working so hard to get healthy, and this stupid comment is just another 'reminder' why."
  • The worst for me was "When is your baby due?" Lol I didn't mind and laughed it off because to me it was funny. First time was after I had my second but was still wearing a maternity shirt, and the second time was many years late, was just wearing a big shirt, don't know how to describe it but I guess it could have been mistaken for a maternity shirt, lol.
