When I lived near Industria Superstudio (on Washington Street in the West Village) the assistants were always running to the drugstore to get tubes of this for the photo shoots.
Oh, sorry, I did not mean to diss at all, that was not my intent. I suppose I should have said 'inexpensive' instead of 'cheapo'. l love the Maybelline mascara and I have used it for over a decade, and I am not planning to switch to a different brand. I am very happy with the fact it is available in non-waterproof "flavour" and at one point, it came in a very dark, eggplant-y colour that was called "Verry Berry" (or something like that). Unfortunately, that colour was discontinued quickly but it was the perfect match for my fair skin. And of course I am happy with its low price because I think no mascara needs to cost $18 or more.
And yes, I am aware that this it the weapon of choice of many professional make-up artists.
