  • Quote: I LOVE steak, but since trying to watch what I eat, I have decided that if I want steak, most of the time, I will have Bison steak instead. The taste is similar, but from what I can find, Bison is quite a bit lower in fat and calories. I am fortunate enough to live in an environment where Bison meat is easy to come by.
I love bison meat! I was always so apprehensive about it, but it's so lean and tasty. Burgers, jerky, steak... it's all delicious!
  • Steak works very well as a healthy food on my plan. It's one of my go-to foods when we eat out.
  • Quote: small portions of grass-fed beef from a farm where I can visit the cows and rancher fit perfectly into my plan.
    Ditto for me.

I have steak every week. As a matter of fact, I have some forms of grass-fed beef, bison, elk, etc. a few times a week. Despite all that red meat, my cholesterol has come down 100 points in the last year without the use of statins. Oh, and butter is not verboten in our house either.

I think anything can be part of a healthy eating plan.
  • We eat a lot of beef in my house. I just try to not eat it for multiple meals in a row. I eat brisket, ground beef (I buy 93/7), and occasional steak. I usually have 5-6oz servings and I love it.
  • It's hard to avoid steak given who I date-- but thankfully we usually go to high end restaurants that serve tiny but high quality portions. It's hard to overindulge when the wagyu is $20 per ounce... my wallet prevents it. haha
  • Love it! Conveniently, I really hate the texture of visible fat in meat so nice, lean top round is my favorite. I don't eat it often (price helps this!) and buy organic. I also prefer cooking it at home as I know exactly how I like it - extra pepper dry rub, rare, NO weird sauce please.
  • Steak is one of my most favorite foods. I eat it pretty regularly and I've lost over 40lbs. I think with any food you have to be sensible about it. I watch my portions and keep it within my calories.
