Once again....we see healthy eating habits and exercising are not always about numbers on the scale...we can do things that make us feel good without having to use a measuring stick to see if we should "feel" happy today
  • My best bud's dad ran a mini triathlon this morning! 2 hours, 17 minutes and 44 seconds! That's amazing! I'm so proud! I hope I can be awesome like that one day!
  • I almost missed this one! I'm definitely in again Thanks EZ!
  • i'm in!
  • So, how does this work. Are we going to all do this on Mothers Day and then post up times?
  • Cyndi and sws you both are in...have fun.

TBG ~ we all do a 5K (or whatever you are physically able to do...walk...hike...bike...exercise of your choice) around or on Mother's Day for this one. Because of the day and everyone's different schedules, we just do them when it works for us...some a week before...others maybe a week later. The actual time we get out is not the important thing. I will put up a results thread towards the end of the week...or as soon as somebody posts their time here. Have a great time.
  • bump....

    just days away...
  • bump....too close to race time to be on page 2!!
  • I'm posting a time! It's not a time I foresee ever matching in the near future, but it comes with a hilarious story...

I biked to work this morning, no biggie. I planned to go to a stability ball class and then bike home. So I'm walking back to work (it's about 100 feet from the mall where the gym is to the door of my office building) and I see the personal trainer who I had for my complimentary sessions (for getting people to sign up). He says, "I'm going for a run. Wanna come?!?" I say, "How long?" 5K. "Sure!" I was mostly bluffing. We walk to my building, and I realize, "You're totally going to kick my butt, aren't you?!?" But I drop my stuff at work, and off we go. It was brutal! He's so upbeat, even when I got tired and cranky, he was like, "Come on, just 200 metres to go!" But he finally figured out the secret--tire me out until I can't even talk, and I stop complaining.

In the end, our time was 32:30 for 5K, surpassing my previous best by two and a half minutes. However, I know we were going much more slowly then he would have without me dragging him back. That's okay--he said he likes running with company, and he was very nice about saying I really didn't slow him down that much.

Moral of the story: when you run into a personal trainer, run the other way!!

So, I'm planning to run to work Friday morning, and if I do I'll post my 5K time from that. I know it will be closer to 35:0, but it would be a little more realistic than the time I get when I've got a trainer running beside me.
  • way Cool Mango!

In fact I am going to get a results thread going right now so you can put it there!
