  • Hello everyone,
this signing up for the SB 3FC is giving me alot more work.
I want to be like Cindy I am drying green pepper and jalapenos and today bought a huge pumpkin which I guess I will cook and puree sometimes during the week and then can.
Also, sometimes on the agenda I have to get together with a friend and have our annual varenyki making day (known to the rest of the world as perogies). We make them together every year rotating kitchens. This is her year and she gets to do all the clean up after. I usually wind up with about 200 which I freeze on baking sheets. My family loves them and its nice when they come home and ask for them.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  • The apple cake turned out freakin' fantastic. I ended up going shopping with MIL afterwards while DH went to his friend's house to watch football. It's been years since I've had a home phone, so I got a nice new cordless with another satellite handset.
  • sophie, my mother's best friend is from Poland, and every year they get together to make perogies during Lent. They've been doing that ever since I can remember, and it sure does bring back memories of how good they smelled while sauteeing in butter and onion. Very unhealthy, but oh-so-good!
  • Heather - Thanks It was time for the egret to go south. How was the craft fair? A long time ago, in another life, I used to work craft fairs. I loved the people watching.

Jenks - hope those antibiotics kick that infection out asap!

Full Steam - I am so not organized about most things. I only manage some semblance of organization in the kitchen because I live in a small apartment with very little kitchen space. I have to be organized about it or I'm out of room fast (just about out of counter space with the crockpot & dehydrator going)

Sophie - I want to be like someone else and have a relaxing weekend

    Zeff - Recipe??

Well I made it through most of my list today. I made crockpot refried black beans. They came a little too thin for refried but so very yummy that I don't care. I also picked a bushel of apples, mixed heirlooms mostly and dried 10 trays (about 1/8 of my booty!), cooked chick peas for the week (peanut butter hummus is on the horizon), and completed a wide variety of rather dull household chores. I am now officially exhausted! The one thing I didn't get to was the pumpkin bread and it may have to wait for tomorrow night. I'm not sure I have another cooking project in me today

Mods - what do you think, can we add a crockpot thread to the recipes?

I think we used to have a crockpot thread in our recipes, but maybe I'm mistaken. But I think it's a great idea. Let's try it for a while and see how many people respond.

Okay, I tried to get a tab for it in our recipe board, but I think Mother Ruth is going to have to do it.
