  • Misti, that hoop is just like the Curves hoop, the multi-colors and all. No, you don't have to leave the cellophane on there. Its a protective wrap, just like they put cellophane over the glass cover on your cellphone, calculators, etc. I had it on the front of my dishwasher and pealed it off too when it got a bad spot in it. Just protects the surface longer.

BTW, I was GOING to mention that you sure didn't look 60, til someone beat me to it. LOL
  • Ha phantastica, at least I will not be the only one entertaining the neighbors. I didn't do it this afternoon as I was exhausted and crashed away the afternoon!

Almostheaven thanks for letting me know I did not destroy my hoop! That is just like something I would do. Yah I thought it was like the stuff they put around your lamps, etc.... but then the picture on the site showed people using it with it still on there.

And thanks... I am TRYING not to look 60. But that is one thing... when I lose weight it will take the puffiness out of my face and wala... instant wrinkles! But oh well if it happens it happens... I'd rather be wrinkly than fat ha!
  • Since I posted, I have been trying to figure out which size/ weight to purchase. I found this article and it was pretty informative. Enjoy..

  • That is a super site! Thanks! AND it was encouraging as I held up my hoop and it is just the right size I am supposed to have.

I did it tonight for 7 revolutions... several times... LOL that is a new record. I think I will be able to do it more when I get to where it doesn't hurt.
  • I don't have one of those weighted ones, but I can do my lightweight one frequently enough that I no longer count revolutions and could count minutes! It's fun to do it in the garage during a thunderstorm, listening to some music.
  • Oh I would love the thunderstorm stuff too! I might buy a regular one too just so I can get the motion better and work up to doing more on the weighted one. The thing is heavy and ends up HURTING so I can't do it. Also I would be safer doing the lighter one indoors. I am not sure I will EVER be able to do this heavy one on my arms and legs, etc.
  • That is such a good idea! I used to love hula hooping! I jump rope for exercise but I never thought of hula hooping, I think it is a great idea!
  • so, i bought a hula hoop the other day, just to see if i could do it...and i can't yet lol, but anyway, i was wondering if most people hula clockwise or counterclockwise?
  • Lee Ann! ha ha ha. I do clockwise. Should we be reversing it? Can anybody do it the other direction? I can't.

Misti, I thought about buying a heavy one too so I can work up to it. I'm visiting a friend this weekend who has one and I'll try hers.
  • I've ALWAYS hoola'd counter clockwise. Until I saw a gal at Curves doing both directions. I was already spending 5 minutes on the hoop. So I tried doing clockwise. Just like when I first picked the hoop up again, I had a few false starts. But I eventually could do it both directions and spent 5 minutes on each.
  • Wow that is interesting that you can do it both ways! I am impressed! I read recently that generally right handed people do it counterclockwise and left handed clockwise. Not sure how accurate that is.

I can't do much with my regular one or my heavy one either, ha! Actually I can do more with the heavier one but I can do the other one in the house. Except -- and I didn't know this when I bought it -- my plain one is called a "wave hoop" and has a little bit of water or something inside it... which you have to spin that around too. I think that might make it harder, not sure. I may stick a knife in it and try to drain it out LOL. I just read on a website that the water makes it easier... we shall see
  • I'm ordering mine Friday when we get paid! YAY!!!! Can't wait!
BTW, my Long haired Siamese had 4 kittens today.
  • My mother swears that hula hooping when I was a teen gave me a tiny waist. Hey I have TWO, maybe I should get busy again! ha.
  • Hula Hoop
Anyone know where to get a weighted hoop? Mine both have the rattle sound in them... I ignore that, but doesn't help like the weighted would.
  • Diva, I can't wait to hear how you like your hoop! It will be fun when we all get better at them LOL. And congratulations on your new grandkittens.

Arizona, I don't know what happened to me, if your mother is right... LOL I did it by the hours as a kid and barely have a waistline at all. But lucky you!

I am sure there are places online to order them; I lucked out and found mine at a yard sale.
