Good morning! I am trying to decide what to do. Justin's aunt is an artist...she draws wonderful things. She loves pottery though and wants to learn more about it. I have a degree in pottery and I want to learn more about drawing. We hit it off the first time we met and have found we like each other more each time we see each other. They live up in the mountains, and she has invited me to come up whenever, for the day, the week, and we can work on the wheel, go draw, and just play with art the whole time. It is awesome to have someone who is as passionate about art, and yet compliments my personality and style so well. I think we could be really good friends. So we were planning on my driving up there either this afternoon, or tomorrow. Tom was fine with it, until he started thinking about the bathroom remodeling project. Now he suggests I finish it before heading out. I think he is hoping my desire to go to the mountains and do art stuff will be inspiration for me to get the bathroom done. I could still go ... but I hate to disappoint Tom. So, I am trying to decide what to do.

I slept fairly well again. This could become a habit! I think the regular evening cup of Sleepytime Extra tea is beginning to be effective. My arms are really sore today from the time in the pool last night. I do love water aerobics...I may have to join the Y.

My glucose levels were awesome yesterday. Now I am worried about the increase in my lizard spit shot...I hope it doesn't make me hypoglycemic a lot!

TECH: I would have turned around too...no sense walking in the rain! At least you made it out for SOME time. I need to suit up and get out there this morning before I go get a new tire for my car...one of them is about bald!

BOB: It was hard to leave the rest of the sheets there, believe me! I will probably cut these in half, or some of them, giving myself more chances for paintings. I think I will do a series of mountain paintings to celebrate my recent trips to north Georgia... How is the knee today? Getting in the cold water actually helps mine some. I hear it makes you put out endorphines...natural pain killers.

Hi Ladies,

How is everyone today? Got to the gym last night for about 45 minutes. DD was tired and we had a dish cooking in the oven and DH was worried about it. Tonight I am volunteering at the breast cancer store again. Probably folding more shirts. So I won't make it to the gym.
I am having the worst time trying to decide what clothes to take to Nashville. Warm in the day and cool at night. Plus I hate my clothes. I think I could throw away my whole closet except for about 8-10 things.

Monet, how long will it take you to finish your bathroom? Glad you had such a good day with all your levels and sleeping well.

Tech, any walk is better than no walk. I would have done the same thing.

Thin, I bet Rachel is so happy. I love Sugar Daddy's & mostly Sugar Babies.

Bob, are you keeping that leg propped up? Hope it is feeling better.

Better do some work. Will check in later.

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!

It's a BEAUTIFUL DAY here on the WEST COAST OF FLA!!! No humidity (yet)
and the temp is behaving.

My knee seems better in different ways today. It's still popping and cracking (which makes me think there is more going on in there than what the xray said), but the swelling is better. Still hurts like the devil, but I'm sure that will take some time..

MONET...Where in the mountains does Justin's Aunt live? With the trees getting ready to burst, that would make for some beautiful paintings. Let us know what you decide to do.

KRIS..Way to go on going to the lighthouse!! Halfway that is! Enjoy your time with your friends this morning!

THIN...What a good surprise for Rachel...how long has she had them on?
SUGAR DADDY....Hmmmmmmmm. Tell her to be careful...she sure doesn't want to pull her teeth out (I'm sure they will be a little loose) after going through all that time with her braces on! Tell her CONGRATS!!!

I got new glasses ( I may have told y'all about them breaking) and they have broken three times since I've had them...they have broken one more time and this fourth time will be the charm. I'm going to talk to the Dr about this. I know she doesn't know anything about it or how many times I've been there with them in two pieces! I really think they are defective and this make them come apart. I want her to give back my benefits so I can pick out a new pair. It took a month to get them in the first place so I know it will be about the same time frame. I hope she values my business and does the right thing. FINGERS CROSSED PLEASE!!!

I'm off to WALMART to hobble into the EYE DEPT...I want to know how much a pair would be there if I were to buy an separate pair. I went to Lenscrafters yesterday and the advertise all these specials...ALMOST $400 if you can believe that! No deal for me there!

I'll be back later!

Bob- Rachel got her braces on Thanksgiving week of 2004. So almost 2 years! I will tell her to suck on the sugar daddy and not do so much pulling!

This gets harder...I just got an email from Justin's aunt, and she is SO excited and can't wait for me to get there. How can I say I am not going to come this week? I think I am going to go....and will work on the bathroom today and Friday.

THIN: That is great news about Rachel's braces! I agree...go easy on that sugar daddy! After getting them straight, you don't want to pull them out or anything! I would have though popcorn would be the thing to have!

BOB: I can so relate on the knee....AND the glasses. I got new glasses last year in December, right before Jan. 1, so I could use my benefits. Then in April, I found out I was diabetic, and once my sugar levels were normalized, my vision improved dramatically! So, I am wearing my old glasses, and my new ones are not usuable. Tom and I go round and round on this. He went to America's Best, and got mad at them about how they handled insurance...but he got the club plan so he could get his eyes checked as much as he wanted for like two years. He made me go to Lenscrafters...and while I paid the same amount as he did, I can't go get my eyes checked again, or get new glasses without paying. If I had the club plan he does, I could have gotten my new glasses fixed and had my eyes checked again...grrr. We can't afford to pay out of pocket right now, so I am going to have to deal with these old glasses for another year, probably. Justin's aunt lives near Clarkesville, Georgia. Its above Gainesville.

Morning. I weighed this morning although I'm still just "slightly" puffy..at 168. And that was at 4:45 AM. Since starting this job in April my weight mainly has stayed in the 170's. These people love to eat around here and I obliged. When I started, my weight was around 165. I've taken off 6, but still have 3 more to go for my 1st goal. Then my second goal will be to get back to my all-time low of 159. Just taking it one day at a time. Tomorrow I have my pre-op testing that will take a few hours. No breakfast because I have to fast after midnight. I was just popping in to check the board. I'll check back this afternoon.

Howdy from Stinky head... (yep! got my permanet yesterday and boy am I curley...) I'm supposed to be packing but just can't seem to get motivated. Maybe later this afternoon. Had lunch out and I cheated yesterday but then again I didn't eat dinner because I wasn't really hungry because of a big lunch. But did have a nice afternoon out. Not much going on here right now. I need to get busy but I'm a slug this morning.

TONI: (aka Stinky head!) I know what you mean about getting movtivated! I still have not gone to get my tire, or the clay I am supposed to pick up to take tomorrow. I am missing you on the exercise board this week!

Speaking of MIAs...GINCON is missing this week! I wish KAYEC would come back...and I am also missing FILLISE, GATOR, and BETH.

just checking in..I only have the pre-op stuff tomorrow. The surgery will be next Wednesday. Just got back from lunch. I had the Starkist tuna fillet and brocolli slaw with tomatoes and cukes marinated in vinegar and seasonings. Then had the new crave control yogurt for my "dessert." Today is very boring, which makes for a long work day. Well, guess I'll check back in later!

Ok, here goes. I took Rachel to see the dietician today and she had a few good ideas, but mainly nothing I didn't already know. Her blood work has not come in yet.

Then we went to see the cardiologist. Both of them have cholesterol in the normal range. Sean is doing great. The cardiologist wanted to know why the endocrinologist had not put Rachel on glucophage yet and decided to do so himself. The physician's assistant, who is a very nice lady probably in her 50's, also mentioned PCOS. I was very impressed with that observation since I have read how much trouble some of those girls haveover on the insulin resistance board. However, Rachel is a bit young for that and has only had one period, so too soon to see how regular she will be, but they are going to keep an eye on her and see her in one month and I left their office relieved that they were really listening to us. They also mentioned that they are tinkering with the idea of having a class for kids starting in January that would be in conjunction with the hopital. They want to have doctors, psycologist, etc on hand and talk about fitness and nutrition with the kids. There would also be exercise and cooking classes just for them! They would split them into maybe 6-11 age group and 12-18 or so. They will have classes for the parents too. The kids could talk to each other and feel like somone understands. It would be maybe once a month meetings/classes and weekly "callin" weigh ins for about 6 months then some sort of maintenance after that. I thought it sounded great, so we'll see how the new year comes together.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

I went to WALMART and the glasses there would be $218 plus the cost of frames. I decided to go and talk to my Eye Doc and she what she had to say. Of course, she didn't know any thing about what i've been going through with my glasses! She let me pick out anything I wanted (frames) no matter what the cost and my glasses are now in transition to the lab to be made. She told Julie (in the glasses dept) not to even fool with my insurance company but to send them to their lab and they will pay for them.
I should have talked to her in the beginning. So hopefully, I'll have my glasses in about a week or maybe two. With that behind me, I feel better about the whole thing!

THIN...I think a young girl can get PCOS very early on and not even know it until they are grown so this is a good thing that they have this in the back of their mind to check. When you see the Endocrinologist, have them check her for this...it all ties in with insulin resistance. I'll be anxious to hear..

LAURIE...I know you've probably already told us about your surgery, but tell me again...what kind are you having?

TONI...That the worst part of a perm...THE STINK!! And not being able to wash your hair right away doesn't make it any better!!

MONET...check on the price of glasses at COSTCO next time you go out there. I bet they are a LOT cheaper...

I've decided that while I'm home, I'm going to grill up some chicken and when I get hungry, I'm going to snack on that. The protein will help me to get started on my weight loss better...I went to ALBERTSON'S and got ten whole breasts...(bet they weight over a pound a piece) and that will be four meals right there. Got to get my scales down and start weighing my food again. PORTION...PORTION ....PORTION!!!! The green beans suck right now and I'm hoping that when I go to NC at the end of the month to see the new Baby that I can find a late garden or two and bring home about a bushel.
I've been having a hard time finding good fresh veggies so I've been buying frozen and just barely getting them hot through to eat so I don't lose the nutrients. All of our lettuce and such comes from MEXICO and I'm afraid to eat any of it after that Spinach scare. Ecoli effect all the leafy veggies if it's in the soil and I'm just not going to take a chance! I quit buying the bagged lettuce a long time ago. We've moving into SWEET POTATO season and I'm hoping to find some good WHITE SWEET TATORS...I love them so much better than the orange ones, but will eat the orange ones if I can't get anything else. They are good for a treat every now and then.

I've rambled enough...anyone watching THE BIGGEST LOSER? They take them on a cruise tonight and that ought to be interesting with all the food that is available on a ship. Also LOST starts tonight but I'll tape that...at 10p.m PROJECT RUNWAY is on ...I just love that show...AND we're getting closer to TOP CHEF which starts on BRAVO on the 18th...I bought another VCR to hook up in the LR so catch some of the shows that conflict...I'M REALLY ADDICTED!!!!

THIN: That is very encouraging news. The glucophage might be just the thing. I take it. If it IS PCOS, it would be good to catch it early and find ways to keep it from becoming worse. Tom has a cousin that had it for years before she was diagnosed, and the poor thing weighs about 350 or more and has a terrible time losing. If they had caught it earlier, she might have been able to keep from gaining so much. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the support! They warned her that she may have gas and some diarrhea for a few days, but to keep taking it. It will get better! I don't know a lot about pcos, so I'm off to surf and see what I can find. I meant to mention that the dietician seems to be overly concerned with portion control and not so much with the high fiber ww part. I know portions are important, but doesn't it matter what you are portioning! She challenged us to fine one more day a week for Rach to walk or do something and wants her to shoot for 5-10 lbs off by January. I guess we'll see how it goes!
