Hi ladies...

Busy, busy morning. I planned on getting up early but Josh called last night at 11:30 p.m (8:30 Tuesday his time) and I was up until almost 2. Not talking, but he woke me up. This time difference is weird because he called yesterday at 11:30 my time (I missed the call) and it was 8:30 p.m. his time, lol. Anyway...point being, I didn't want to get up at 7 a.m. and ended up sleeping until almost 9. I did finally get out the door and to the park for my walk. Then came home, ate breakfast, went to IF and worked out, came home and then took Ernie to the park for a walk. Came home and cleaned and now on the puter but not for long, lol. I definitely got in a good work out.

SUE...keeping my fingers for an offer on your home soon. I read somewhere on average it takes a house about 70 days to sale. WTG on getting in the WATP and a bike ride. Now, do you wear a helmet when you ride your bike? I'm debating over getting one. I feel silly wearing one but it's all about safety and not looks.

JANE...that is sweet about the kisses. Aaah, poor Molly...didn't even think about her losing her buddy. Hope you had a nice visit with Joe.

IFONLY...okay, I knew it sounded familiar. I need to get one of those, sounds like loads of fun! Funny, I am the opposite...if I exercise before bedtime I will be wide awake.

NORMA...hope you are feeling better. WTG on the pound...even though it was from you being ill. Not the best way to lose but a loss all the same. Hmmm, didn't think about the yellow plastic type of ribbon. Don't really like the plastic stuff but I'll check it out and see.

Hi to everyone else

Have a good day ladies!

Hi ladies,

iflonly - I guess I need to get a DDR so I can move more, lol. Like Cristi, exercise revs me up.

Sue - wow, you're a woman with a plan to stay OP. Good going! Did the cabinet guys show? Neal and I were disappointed over and over when we got our house, at guys who were supposed to be here, then weren't. Grr!

Norma - glad to see you! Hey, a pound is a pound, no matter how you lost it, lol. Glad you're feeling better.

Cristi - glad you get to talk to Josh sometimes. With cell phones, web cams, and email, communicating with soldiers is a lot better than it ever was. When my first DH was in Germany, the only way we communicated was through letters. Even with air mail, it took about a week to get a letter, lol.

Little Makenzie is allergic to all nuts, and highly allergic to peanuts, almonds, and hazelnuts. She has to have an Epipen with her at all times, and one has to be left at preschool. Mary has to have a special session with the teachers about it, including a video the teachers should watch. I have rid my house of anything with nuts in any form from my house. This includes my beloved peanut butter that I usually have for breakfast. I'm just not willing to take any chance that she could get ahold of any nut product.

If that isn't bad enough, the twins had to be tested as cystic fibrois carriers , since their father found out he is a carrier of it. So they had to go have blood drawn today. I don't know much about the disease, and am afraid to research it until we find out more from the lab.

Also, Katie is thinking of moving in with her boyfriend, and I know kids do that, but at age 19, what are the chances she'll stay with him? They seem devoted to each other right now, but still. She's old enough to do what she wants, though, and she is a good kid. I've never had any trouble with her, so I should count my blessings.

In the meantime, my freakin' nerves are shot. I've had more to eat than I should have. I don't have any junk food in the house - you know how I feel about that. So I borrowed some from Mary. I got some chips and a candy bar from her, and ate them. At least I didn't go buy a bag of chips or a whole package of candy, but I'm mad at myself. I felt so guilty that they didn't even taste good.

Thanks for letting me share. Sorry this was so long.

Jane- No they never showed up. They better be there tomorrow. I just think it is so inconsiderate to not at least call. I know they get behind on jobs, but don't be rude. Geeze. So sorry to hear that you have been stressed. I can certainly understand! You will just get right back on track...so don't feel too guilty. I do know what you mean about food not tasting good when you know you shouldn't have it. (but heck..if I get on a binge I don't care if it tastes good or not...I just eat!)

Cristina..Yay for talking to Josh. Did you find out where to send his "goodies?" Neat that V's work gave you so much to send. Hey, you are doing great with all the exercise. I am like you, hoping the scales move on Mon. I am tired of trying and getting no results. (OK, it was only this week...but hey!)

It was gloomy and damp here this evening, but I did take the bike for another spin. The second time my legs felt wobbly...so I am going to have to work up to a longer ride. My plan is to ride in the morning and walk at night. When we move I will lose my walking buddy so I want to get used to riding for longer periods. That will probably be my main exercise. Oh, no I don't wear a helmet..eek, never even crossed my mind.
Nothing going on tomorrow that I am aware of. I will probably come in here and bug you all.

Hi all!
Been really busy around here. Trying to deal with a super moody middle schooler.

I wish I knew what I'm doing wrong/differently about exercise. In a way, though, I guess it does perk me up... the next day. But immediately after, I have no energy at all. I was locked out of my house weeks ago, had to walk a few miles to get a key. I just wanted to sleep when the door was unlocked.

Sorry about the snacking Jane. I ate way too much for dinner tonight: 2 grilled tuna sandwiches and frenchfries. Got that heavy, bloated, ugh kill me, feeling going on. Couldn't even do any DDR! But, tomorrow's another day. Should be able to get an exercise bike soon and some yoga dvds and books I've been eyeing. So, I think I'm sticking to DDR for kid-bonding/cardio, bike for cardio, and yoga for stretching that will hopefully evolve into pilates or some combo. One of my longterm goals is to be comfy enough to leave the house and enter a pool. I have real issues with jiggling in public, though, no matter how illogical.

Wink Hola Chicas!

Hola Chicas!
How is everybody? Good I hope!
Just finished watching Rescue Me, the Season Finale! They left us hanging again! lol.

Anyways, Sorry I've been MIA. I just have not felt like coming online lately. Tonight is the 1st night I've been on.

I just discovered on one of our cats today that he has fleas. We went through a very bad case about 3 years or so ago when we were living with the in-laws. It took FOREVER to get rid of them! So I ordered the Frontline Plus (Flea Treatment) today. We bought the flea spray and I bought them some baby shampoo to give them a bath once the flea meds arrive. (Our vet does not recommend using the Flea Shampoo, so we use Baby Shampoo) So whenever the Frontline comes it will be funtime here. Stripping down everything and washing it and all that crap. Plus washing the two cats too.........that is always lots of fun...................................

Anyways. That is the big "exciting" news here. lol. OH and went to the pharmacy today and they almost killed me. Thats all. Gave me the wrong medication. In the correct bottle, correct info and all that, wrong meds inside. Luckily I noticed they were wrong or I may not be here! Needless to say hub is furious! All I got to say is double check your meds before leaving the pharmacy or the store. Even if you've been going there for years and years and know the pharmacist on a 1st name basis, check it. It can happen to anybody. Lucky I noticed right away they weren't right. The pharmacy was closed but we went to a different pharmacy and they told us it was the wrong medicine. (it was the pharmacy my in-laws go too and have for many years that checked out the medicine for us)

So needless to say the pharmacy that gave us the wrong medicine will be getting phone calls tomorrow. Not only from my husband, but I'm sure from my dr as well once hub calls him letting him know what happened. As it is one heart surgeon that is our friends future fil knows about it and is furious about it and I'm not even his patient!

Anyways..........onto Individuals!

Jane -- OMG. You won't beleive what my husband did the other day. He had a small hole in his jeans. Instead of taking them off, he wore them out! At first he only put them on to go outside to smoke. Okay, I am okay with that, he had boxers underneath, so no big deal, but he did not change when we went out to eat! MEN! lol. By the time the night was over, the "small hole" was all the way down his leg. (luckily we were home by then) So now he is down to one decent pair of jeans.

And speaking of vets.........When we take our cat to the vets for his annual visit, he is an absolute mess by the time we get him there. He drools, pukes, pees, poops, the works! lol. I usually hand him over carrier and all to the vets office and they have to clean him up even before the vet sees him! lol.....He also has to be given Kitty Valum when he travels any great distances! lol. (like when we moved to NY)

Marti -- I hope you enjoyed your 4 day weekend! I so want to do that. But I know next month we are taking a whole week off. So just have to wait I suppose.............Yeah I think we could try working out after work and see............We haven't gotten a chance to get over there yet and also hub injured his arm pretty bad. So I think we're waiting for him to see the dr first before doing anything. (he sees the dr on Thurs.)

Cristina -- TY for the card! I got it yesterday!!!!!!! Hub and I took mil to Hallmark a couple weeks ago to get her annual ornaments. I got a few myself althought not sure if we'll even put up our big tree this year or not. We didn't last year since there is really no room for it.

Hub's arm is hurting him too. His is his elbow that he broke years and years ago (before me) so not sure what he did. He has an appt. Thurs. I don't know why I was coughing. Don't know if it was my acid reflux or what. I'm fine now. Very weird. I went through about 48 hrs of you know what and now I'm fine. Must have just been a flare up or something.

Sue -- with the house!

Ifonly -- Hello.........not sure if I was here when you were here??? anyways. I'm Sassy, hello to you and hope all is well.

Okay I think I'm caught up now. I did read everything but sorry if I didn't reply to every single thing.

I have been doing pretty darn good (if I do say so myself) with eating. Even fil is onboard with healthy eating. Now I just need to get my butt in gear and get to exercising!!!!!!!

I did "Splurge" and have Hot Fudge Cake lastnight...............But I was good, tonight, hub ate his piece and offered 1/2 of his to me, I said, "no thanks"

I think I figured this thing out finally..............If I do want something that I really shouldn't have, then I can eat a small portion of it and just modify the rest of my day. EX: if I want a piece of hot fudge cake, okay. But eat a small piece, and cut back on some of the other foods during the day or in my case, night. Also I noticed that eating better makes me feel better. I know that should have been a "duh" but okay so I am a tad bit on the slow side. lol.

We even ate out lastnight. I had shrimp and scallops with Garlic Mashed potatoes, but I didn't even eat 1/2 the potatoes. (only had a few bites) I did eat some bread though. I had a nice salad with Italian Vinegrette and NO DESSERT!

We even bought some stuff to make our own pizza's so we can control what goes on it! I got Roasted Red Peppers and Canadian Bacon for mine.........So what we'll do is the rest of the day we'll make sure we eat "better" so the pizza won't put us totally over.................I think I got the idea right???????

Tonight we had Grilled Chicken and mac. salad. (small portion of mac salad) I should have eaten a veggie but we forgot to pick one up. (my bad)

So this is what I have had for today:

1 hotdog (w/ reg. mustard and onions)
1 small soda

2 small grilled chicken
Mac. Salad (about 1 cup?)
Water

and now I'm drinking a beer. Okay not a good thing, but I rarely ever drink and I doubt I will drink it all.................

That is all so far...................

Question................Do Zucchini's have Carbs???????????? I almost got that instead of the Garlic Mashed Pot. lastnight but wasn't sure if they would be any better???????

Okay I have rambled a bit, eh? Sorry about that............lolllllllllllllll

Have a Good Day/Afternoon/Night Whatever it is in your "neck" of the woods! lol.

Jane: I don't know what I'd do if the grandkids had that type of allergy to nuts. How scarey. As for the cystic fibrosis, I had a friend whose daughter had it. I will pray to God that the test comes out negative.

Cristina: I'll bet you were on cloud 9 with the call from Josh. I loved hearing from my boys when they were over there. When Larry was in Somalia and they dragged that soldier through the street I about had a heart attack. My son knew that since he was in the area, that I wouldn't be doing well, so he called me collect. It cost me $75 for 3 minutes to know my son was alive and well. Best money I ever spent!

Sue:Sorry about losing your walking buddy. Can you listen to books on tape? I don't have an outdoor bike but it sounds like fun, especially if the weather is nice.

Ifonly: I'm with you on the bathing suit. Maybe one of these days I'll feel confortable. I hope moody schooler is doing better.

Sassy: Thanks for the pharmacy tip. I picked up my blood pressure pills and they were the wrong shape and color. I was terrified to take one. I couldn't get back until the next day to ask the pharmacist. They changed suppy companies and the generic was different. I'm glad I asked though.

Sue: A soak in a hot tub will help the wobbly legs. I hope the cabinet people show up soon.

Marti: Where are you? It doesn't take that long to go to the store!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I feel much better. I still don't know what it was. I got a perm today and I told my hairdresser that I want to go blonde next spring when I've lost all this weight. No more grey. I'm going to be called Grandma Hottie!

Bless wishes to you all

Good Morning Ladies!!

Getting ready to go to work. I absolutely LOVED my four days off. I need to schedule more of those!! At least it's only three days and then I have a three day weekend due to Labor Day. Although, I may go in to catch up on stuff.

Cristi--I didn't know that Hallmark hosted open houses? When do they do that? We have a couple Hallmarks in Eugene and that would be fun. How wonderful that you got to talk to Josh. Even if you did lose some sleep I'm sure it was so worth it!

Jane--You are an amazing grandma! Clearing the house of all nut products. Poor little MaKenzie. We've had many children getting tested for Allergies, and I've noticed a lot of positive nut allergens. I can't begin to imagine what all contains nuts! Give her some hugs for me would ya? And don't beat yourself up so much over the snacking. As you said, you didn't buy your own bag.....and it's understandable w/the stress you're going through. And, you said it didn't taste that good, so now you got it out of your system and will do fine from here on out. We're all going to have slip ups. And we're all going to feel guilty. We just all need to learn from them. Hugs to you Jane!

Sue--I can't believe you're getting rain! Our temps were down yesterday....high was 78 or so, but by the weekend, it's suppose to get up into the 90's again. I wouldn't mind seeing a little rain. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you get an offer on your house!

Norma--Glad that you're feeling better. Nothing like spending all day in bed. (although, that sounds great to me right now!) Love the "grandma hottie" thing. I'm thinking of going in and getting a color done professionally when I reach goal too. That's if I EVER reach goal!!

Ifonly--I hate that kind of feeling that you described after eating too much. I feel that way a lot it seems. Should give me a hint that I'm overeating and to mellow out! Glad to hear that the DDR is giving you lots family bonding time and exercise to boot!

Sassy--Wow, a whole week off from work! I would LOVE that!! What are your plans for that week?? As for the carbs in Zucchinni, I would have no idea. I wouldn't think that it had much. Possibly less than potatoes. I'm sure there are carb counters out there, maybe google it and check it out.

Hello to all our MIA ladies!!

MaryKate, Angie, Jules, Robin, Michelle, ......ok, so I started to write the names individually, but I can't remember them all! So if you're reading this.....Hello and hope to hear from you soon! We miss you!

Ok....I need to get off of here and get some things done before work.
You all have a great Wednesday!

Hi Nixxie!!

You posted while I was writing my novel. You can write what ever comes to mind when posting. Take your time and just read for a bit if you want...and pop in when you're ready!

Glad to have you hear!

I'll try to be back later tonight after I work out at the gym. BTW I quit Slim-n-Tone and started at Gold's on last Friday--I am really liking it.

Smile

Hello ladies and a good Wednesday to you all...

JANE...hugs to you I can relate to the stress for sure. You'll be fine though, just remember what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. I am praying that the cystic fibrosis tests come back negative. I have to say about Katie moving in with her boyfriend...I moved in with DH#1 when I was 19 (turned 20 a month later) and we were married for 12 years until of course you know what happened. I think Katie has a good head on her shoulders and she will be fine. But I know too as mothers we will always worry and stress over our babies. And they will always be our babies.

JULES...I am SO HAPPY to see you posting again! I have really missed you. And how are you liking the gym? And having a persoanl trainer? I'm so jealous...would love to have a persoanl trainer to whip me in shape. Anyway, glad you are back.

SASSY...UGH! I hated the ending of Rescue Me! Of course we know thought that Tommy can't die because he is the show. But the whiney cousins wife, ugh. I think her time is up. We'll see...but I do love that show, my favorite...too funny. Glad you caught the mistake of the meds...that is too scarey. A whole week off eh? Yeah, what do you have planned? Can't answer anything about zucchini...not a fan of it except in the bread I had a couple of times, tastes like carrot cake.

IFONLY...I know the feeling all too well also. Why do we do that to ourselves? I haven't in a while, which is good. But when Josh first joined the Army I was a wreck. About being tired after exercise...do you take vitamins?

SUE...well, I hope those darn cabinet men made it today. I don't know why they never seem to call. If they say they are going to be there then they should be there or at least call and say they are not. WTG on your biking but sorry you will lose your walking partner.

NORMA...glad you are feeling better. All this talk about coloring the grey when I decided no more coloring for me! We'll see how long that lasts, lol. I only have a little grey at the temples and my hair is light colored anyway it just kind of blends in, not so noticable. I agree about the phone calls...I don't care how much it cost it IS money well spent! hearing from Josh puts a smile on my face that lasts for days!

MARTI...glad you enjoyed your four days off and that you have a short week this week! Most of the Hallmarks around here always have an Open House in July for the Christmas ornament preview and if I remember correctly, I think they have another one in November. They send me things in the mail because I have one of their member cards. It's free and you get points for buying anything. I usually get 3-5 certificates a year. Once you get so many points. The certificates range from $5-15 depending on the points you have. The crappy thing, sort of is you get points for buying anything in the store, more if you buy Hallmark products but the certificates can only be used on stuff with the Hallmark name. Still not bad because I buy a lot of cards and they come in handy. And yes, it was worth losing sleep over just to talk with Josh. It is so good to hear his voice and I think he misses us so I know it's good for him to hear mine.

HI and Nixxie!as Marti said...feel free to share anything with us. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi to everyone else!

Again, I didn't want to get up. For some reason I wake up at about 5 every morning (but not completely awake) and toss and turn until my alarm goes off at 7. Turn it off and then turn over and go to sleep and not want to get up-ugh, it's killing me! I should just get up when I start doing that but it is too early and I don't think I would make it through the day. Anyway, got up and went to the park for a 1.5 mile walk, came did a couple of things and then was off to It Figures. I am really getting pumped up about exercising-it's about time! So feeling pretty good about that. Now I need to go vacuum and start a load of laundry. Try to get that done before gettingon the computer but it was lunch time and I got on while I ate my tuna sandwich, which by the way was very good. Anyway, going to go do that now and then later get a couple of packages ready to send to Josh...got his address and I hope it doesn't take too long to get there. He's heading out to do some icky business the middle of Sept. A lot of praying going on in this house. Anywho...

Take care ladies and I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Talking Hi Ladies!

Hi Ladies!

Norma -- YW hon. Wow how scary, at least yours wasn't a mistake! Hub called and talked too the Pham. Manager today and she was shocked (she wasn't the one who filled it) and was VERY appologetic and said she would replace it immediately.

I want to get a perm. Only thing is I haven't yet found a hairdresser in OH (I'm originally from IN) that I trust enough to give me one......lol.

Hello and Welcome, Nixxie! This is a wonderful place so just feel free to take your shoes off, grab your fav. beverage and be right at home!

Marti -- Glad you had a good time off! As for us on our vacation, we have decided to just jump in the car and go wherever it may take us!!!!!!!! So we do not know exactly where we are going! lollllll.

Jules --- *Doesth my eyes deceive me?* JULESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Glad to see you! We missed ya! I hope your 'puter didn't catch the "bug"........

Cristina -- I know that is exactly what I said too. There is no way they will kill off the main character! But hub thought maybe he might get injured or something like that?????? I dunno.......have to wait to tune in next season! GRRRRR! That show is SO addicting!!!!

The answer to the Zucchini Question.............It has a total of 9 Carbs for one large Raw Zucchini, but 4 of those is Dietary Fiber, so I think don't you subtract those? Anyways, not a lot of carbs. Esp. since potatoes have 26 g. for one Med. Raw. and they have 3 dietary fiber.

So you learn something everyday, eh? Here is the link if you want to look up your fav. Veggie: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/prod.../list_veg.html

Hi ladies,

Jules!!!! I'm so glad to see you posting. You have been Very Very missed! Gold's Gym, huh? You Go Girl!!! That sounds great, and it will make you feel better, too.

Nixxie - omg, I live about 35 miles north of Evansville. What took you all the way from E'ville to Sweden? I'm appalled at the way Eastland Mall has gone downhill! All the good stores are moving to Burkhart Road. Just went to Gordman's for the first time last week, and got some decorations for fall. I wanted to go to the new Pier 1, but ran out of time.

Sue - these darn contractors are just too independent! They know they have us by the short hairs, and are in such a demand, that they can do whatever they want. Phooey! Hey, girlie, get a helmet, ok? Don't want to be reading about you in the Indianpolis Star!

Ifonly - middle-schoolers should all be shipped to an island somewhere until they reach about.... 25, lol. I truly think middle school is the worst for kids. They're trying to find their own identity, and yet fit in just like everyone else. About the pool, I finally got to the point where I just go have fun. If nothing else, I serve as the one who makes everyone else feel slim. One of these days, I hope that changes.

Norma - I keep thinking I'm going to go grey. In fact, I told my stylist today that I was going to let it go. But then, I get too scared to do that. What to do, what to do????? Did you get ahold of your DIL? Hope she joins us soon.

Marti - ty, friend. Oh man, I'm so glad you got 4 days off, and have 3 more coming up. Any special plans for labor day?

Cristi - all the JLs will be praying for Josh, Cristi. And you can come here any time and we'll share your worry, ok? About Katie, yes, you're right, she does have a good head on her shoulders. I think she and Clint are a good couple, and they have so much in common. It's just hard to think of the "baby" leaving the nest. <sniff> I wake early, too, sometimes, and have learned that I feel better if I go ahead and get up, then take a nap later. That might work for you.

Sassy - my old neighbor had a 4 y/o son who needed a liquid med, and the pharmacy forgot to delete the elixer!! Yowza, that caused lots of trouble. You just don't know who to trust anymore. Wow, you get lots of vacation time. I'm happy for you. Yep, portion control is key.

Hello to everyone else reading this.

I've calmed down quite a bit from yesterday. There's no use borrowing trouble, and if worse comes to worse, Mary is going to need me to be strong. We don't know how long it will take for the lab to get the results.

I got my hair trimmed today, and it feels a lot better. I do think I'm going to start using temporary dye, so that if I decide to go grey, it can just eventually wash out.

Reminder: tomorrow is our last day before Friday's weigh-in, for anyone who joined Suzanne's August Forum-wide Weigh in challenge.

Have a good one, ladies.

Well, I didn't come here and bug you gals. Got a little busy with riding the bike, WATP and walking. Also had a good friend come over for a visit this afternoon. Then Mom came and left me her little dog, which I am sitting for this week-end. Such a cute solid black pom, weighs 5 pounds.
Yes, the guys came today and we are in the process of getting counter tops. So far it looks good.
Almost moving day here....finally!

Welcome to all the newbies and I do hope you have found a home here with us.

Individuals tomorrow...I promise.
