Cool liziness, we have Battle Royale I and II! We just bought a couple of other Japanese films but haven't watched them yet - there is a place near me that sells them at reasonable prices
Here's the movies I've seen lately... Shrek 2-very good, bit nothing can beat the first one! Along Came Polly-I haven't seen anything that's good with Jennifer Aniston in it, and this was no exception. I did like the "sharted" scene... Mean Girls- my daughter (10) made me take her and it was very, very good-I was so mean in high school, so I can relate!
mauv- my hubby is japanese obsessed, but he's managed to suck me in too. I would love to see Battle Royale 2, but can't seem to find a copy. Really want to buy the first one. We've been getting the manga which are interesting, but I'm just not the comic type of gal i guess. He enjoys them more than I do.
Just watched 50 First Dates. it was great. we actually watched it two nights in a row. lol. first our date night. ( oh the life of married with kids, date night is rent a movie ) then the next night my SIL wanted to watch. I laughed my butt off, but also had parts where i teared up.
Hub and I actually went to a movie Friday in a real theater with the stadium seating!! A treat for us. Course it was matinee fare. We saw The Day After Tomorrow... Just watching that movie made me freeze!! IT was nice walking out into 95° weather after seeing that.
Recently saw "Day After Tomorrow" great special effects but quite far fetched. I can't find the library in NYC in a car in the daylight, but Denis Quaid(love him) finds it in the movie in sub zero, with the city buried under snow?
"Chronicles of Riddick" Ok for what it was. Would much rather see Vin driving driviing a fast car or as XXX.
"Stepford wives" I enjoyed Bette Midler and her gay side kick, the rest of it was just stupid.
"Dodgeball" I know alot of people don't like these stupid type Ben Stiller movies, but I gotta tell ya, it really was funny. When you hear everyone else at the movie howling with laughter it makes it even more fun..
Hub and I went and saw "Farenheit 9/11" last night...
It was sold out. It had sold out every ticket for every showing. I just happened to get lucky. When we got out there was a line around the corner waiting to get in to see it.
My take on the movie?? Humm... I was really choked up. Everyone in that theater was crying...GROWN MEN included. And the whole theater applauded at the end. It was weird...I don't want to say much because I am non-partial. I think it was a good movie, yes. But I will also go see the other movies that come out that are anti-Farenheit movies & other documentaries too to see what they have to say. I like seeing the variety out there and keeping an open mind on everything and letting people form their own opinon on what they believe, not what someone else wants them to believe because they think that their way/belief is the right one. Probably why I don't really vote or follow politics or organized religion much...I'm un-biased. I could never argue with a democrat or republican or any party for that matter. Just not my cup of tea. The only thing I probably would argue about is pet rats. Because I use to be one of those close-minded people that thought they were disgusting creatures...
One thing I found funny/cute was that there was a buncha senior citizens in line to buy tickets to the movie "White Chicks." hehehehe...
I am going to see Farenheit/911 for sure! I've have always like Michael Moore's films including Bowling for Columbine but I do take things with a grain of salt too. It is funny because a lot of the things he said in Bowline for Columbine were things that my friends and I have been commenting on for years - like the way the media and large corporations control a lot of things or manipulate the public - same thing happens up here in Canada and don't even get me started on our politicians up here
I am so glad that Farenheit is being released because people need to see that there are different points of view and that we aren't aware of a lot of things going on behind the scenes.
I will also go see the other films that are coming out because I would like to see there point of view although I wouldn't really describe them as anti-Farenheit - just as having a different perspective on the situation.

I tackled a really difficult movie this weekend. I saw Dodgeball. That movie was so dangon funny. I laughed until I hurt. Ben Stiller needs an Oscar for this movie. I totally disagree with the academy in that they rarely give comedy performances the trophy. A good movie that makes you laugh is every bit as good and worthy as a movie that makes you cry. I still think that Depp was robbed last year. I saw Pirates and Mystic and Depp did a better job.

We watched Equilibrium again on Sunday - love that movie- I think it has now become one of my top ten films
And Christian Bale is really yummy in this movie in a leather clad, repressed, angular cheek boned kind of way And another handsome man - Sean Bean- is it as well....oh, did I mention Taye Diggs?....
Speaking of White Chicks, Noodles, I think that movie probably won't be super funny. However, what WOULD be funny is Ben Stiller and Will Ferrel doing a movie called Black Chicks. Now I would pay money to see that!

Went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 last nite. A monday nite at 10pm and the show sold out and 80% of the audience was 25 & under which I thought was really cool. Hopefully they will vote. I thought it was eye opening but at the same time I think some parts may have been exaggerated. But for the most part, we also have been discussing and talking about for a long time what Michael Moore is saying. Unfortunately, that's all I can say as I don't feel educated enough in politics to say anymore. But I must say after seeing the movie I will start to pay more attention. Hopefully others will too.
I agree on Dodgeball, I thought it was really really funny. They just don't want to see oscars go to comedians it seems.
And for Johnny "Yummy" Depp, I thought he was excellent. I read somewhere that he fashioned the character after Keith Richard of the Stones. Think about it.
Went to the drive in over the weekend and saw "Two Brothers" which was a good movie, parts of it were tough for me to watch as I hate seeing wild animals hunted, killed or put in captivity but fortunately it had a really happy ending. It was a double feature(you can't beat the drive-in, comfy seats, you can talk, burp etc.... and 2 new movies for $5.00 ) the second feature was "The Terminal" I love Tom Hanks, but I've seen him in much better. It was still entertaining, but if anyone else played the part, they might not have pulled it off. I expected more. And Catherine Zeta Jones is just stunning. (hate her... )
